Ballistix Tracer memory is specifically built for performance enthusiasts and case modders who want to push the performance envelope while adding flash appeal to their boxes. The Ballistix line of high-performance memory modules features advanced speed grades, low latencies, and integrated aluminum heat spreaders.

Ballistix Tracer memory features a black PCB, black integrated heat spreaders, and two rows of eight chasing red and green LEDs atop the module, circulating at varying speeds proportional to usage. A custom-designed circuit relays bus activity to the LEDs, allowing them to accurately reflect usage of each memory module. In addition, eight blue ground effects LEDs emit a constant glow near the pins.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, while it lasted

Pros: Very fast memory for gaming and so on,bright leds will light up your case.

Cons: after two years the memory decided to BSOD every 10 minutes. This memory has been set at 4/4/4/12@2.0v sense it was installed on ECS P45T-A Black Series MB.

Other Thoughts: I have always used crucial memory sense I started building PC's way back in 1996,never had a problem until now.Memory is with Crucials' Lifetime Warrenty on defects and failures.RMA'ed through Crucial website.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy!

Pros: For me it worked great without a hitch. I purchased in December '09 to put in my main desktop. Installed easily (what RAM doesn't) have had no problems running 24/7/365 overclocked on Asus M2N32 board, AMD64x2 5000+ Black Ed CPU.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsWent bad after 8 months

Pros: If you like RAM with lots of LEDs on it that lights it up like a firetruck, here's your RAM!

Cons: Only RAM I've had in ages that went bad on me. And I administer hundreds of computers for a living.

Other Thoughts: Bought this by mistake originally....it's for an office computer. Regular Crucial RAM was out of stock, so I bought this instead without noticing the obnoxious LEDs. Memory only lasted 8 months before the computer started crashing like crazy. Swapped it out with other RAM, and computer is now fine. Guess we'll see how good Crucial's RMA process is.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM, but Needs Attention

Pros: Blazing speed and looks nice. Also, I have to hand it to Crucial: their RMA department is very professional.

Cons: One thing not mentioned on here, which I believe indicates that they need to implement a better heatsink, is that this RAM pretty much requires a dedicated memory fan. During my call with their RMA department, the lady recommended this. If my case was cluttered and had poor airflow, I would understand why this isn't included with the RAM. However, even with all of my wires tied down, I still had one stick go out on me, presumably because of the heat.

Other Thoughts: 1) Make certain you get a memory fan if you get this RAM.
2) Make certain you manually set the timings to 4-4-4-12 at 2.0v
3) In spite of a stick failing, I'm leaving a positive review for Crucial. Their RMA department is very professional (and based in the US) and they took care of my issue very quickly, even without a receipt.

Pros: fast as hell Window's rate's it at 7.1 and the Led's look cool

Cons: 1.The timeing's where 5-5-5-18 But a just used my bio's and put it at 4-4-4-12
2.I wish crucial would put Blue LED's on Thare DDR2 line Of RAM not just thare DDR3 line
3.RAM duz get hot to the touch

Other Thoughts: All in All Very "GOOD" DDR2 RAM a good buy

5 out of 5 eggsGood, solid memory from Crucial

Pros: Very stable under use. Red LEDs contrast nicely with blue LEDs from case fans.

Cons: Price could be lower.

Other Thoughts: I bought 4 of these kits last year at a lower price figuring the price would go up once Windows 7 was released (and it did). Windows 7 Professional 64-bit runs smoothly on both boxes. I'd definitely recommended this kit to anyone looking to upgrade their memory.

5 out of 5 eggsNo regrets

Pros: Bought this about 3 months ago in order to max out the ram capacity on my motherboard, this ram has run phenomenally, it has allowed me to run almost all of my games at max the LEDs also move around according with how much the RAM is being used, a great resonalbly priced buy for anyone looking to max out a 2 slot DDR2 motherboard

Cons: should of been blue LEDs :P

2 out of 5 eggsPowerful but unreliable.

Pros: Fantastic memory, runs fast and was easy to install. The flashing LEDs are a nice touch. This RAM worked great for for a few months.

Cons: I have bought two 4GB sticks of the crucial Ballistix Tracer memory with over 3 sticks going bad at an average of 5-8 months. I'm not sure what is causing them to corrupt but I believe it is a heat issue.

On both cases two chips were immediately corrupted with Memtest86 displaying thousands of errors.

One stick is still functioning but has intermittent memtest errors and BSOD's.

Other Thoughts: While this RAM is great when it's properly working, I have experienced too many issues with reliability with this brand.
