5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly

Pros: This RAM does exactly what is expected. I haven't had a problem with it so far (about a month) and installation was easy. This worked with my Early 2011 Macbook Pro 15-inch 2.0 Ghz computer running OSX 10.8.2.

2 out of 5 eggsReceived Dud Pair

Pros: Fairly fast shipping
Good price

Cons: I bought these modules to double the RAM in my Asus U43JC-X1. These are the same speed, etc. as the modules that were already present so that wasn't the issue here. I installed them and turned the laptop on, I was then presented with the linux mint loading screen for a good five minutes, I also experienced a much longer boot time with Windows. When either operating system finally booted, everything was very laggy - it was as if I was running a full load of programs. The weird thing about this was that the machine still booted and even detected that I had 8GB of RAM installed. I ran a memtest and it just froze after a few minutes so I'm assuming that's because these modules are bad.

Other Thoughts: I usually go with G.Skill but, because these were on sale, I decided to give crucial a try. Very disappointed with the quality/reliability of crucial products, I think I'll stick with G.Skill.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Alien Memory

Pros: Fantastic and stable memory upgrade kit. Planted these in an Alienware M11x R1. At first the alien would not POST because the innermost memory strip was not seated well. Once I pulled it out I tried booting each one individually and they worked. The reseated them both and booted fine. For this machine I would avoid heat spreaders. There is a little foam thingy on the cover which cradles the inner memory module. Not much play room in there. Happy to have 8gb. Thanks Crucial!

Cons: Had to be very careful with the packaging. Seemed like no matter how I pulled on it there was too much pressure. I ended up using a tiny screwdriver protected with rubber and pulling it out of one side of the plastic where the cut out is for the metal retainers.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks...but not as advertised...

Pros: 8 GB Memory Kit from Crucial installed and is working normally in a HP Touchsmart 320. Immediately improved Windows rating to a 7.2 (from 5.9 with stock 4 GB RAM). Also solved low memory warnings which were popping up multiple times a day.

Cons: Purchased specifically from Newegg because the picture of the product with this kit confirmed that it was 4-1 GB chips per stick and made in USA. The kit I received, while it is working, has 8-500 MB chips per stick and made in China. Was really hoping the product would be as pictured...I suppose the picture is no guarantee of the actual product shipped.
