Crucial 240-pin DIMMs are used in DDR3 memory for desktop computers. DDR3 is the latest generation of memory with an improved architecture that allows it to transmit data more quickly.

A dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a DIMM are not connected to each other.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Used this RAM for my first ever PC build and I couldn't be happier with the results, System boots fast, runs fast, and hasn't let me down yet. Happy customer here

4 out of 5 eggsIt finally works!!!!

Pros: It finally really works!!!!

Cons: The SPD doesn't seem to work with the ASrock extreme4 z77. The bios defaults to cl9 timings causing BSOD, most specifically IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL in Windows 7. Because of that I knock one egg since its not detected in CPU-Z either.

Other Thoughts: Overall the memory is fast and low power. I like that It doesn't run hot, therefore doesn't need a heat spreader. There has been some confusion on this ram as far as timings. Some websites show cl11 while other show cl9. MAJOR difference. Make sure its cl11!!!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Value

Pros: Works as advertised. It's Cheap!

Cons: I guess the timings are a bit weak by enthusiast standards but everyone else won't notice that in the real world.

Other Thoughts: I'm putting together 5 servers and this stuff is so cheap and effective that I was able to get 32GB/server rather than the 16GB I had originally budgeted for. I bought 24 single 4GB sticks of this stuff before I realized they sell it in a 2 stick combo for 33% cheaper!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It remembers stuff! It's also pretty quick, at least according to my OS.

Cons: Not sure if this is a fault of the RAM or my Motherboard, but the Mobo didn't detect the speed correctly.

Other Thoughts: I had two packs of these (16GB total) installed, but my OS didn't detect it all: it came up with 14 GB (12 Usable). Fixing the speed in the BIOS settings on my motherboard (to DDR3 1600) corrected this. Weird, but maybe will help someone else.

2 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrival

Pros: Inexpensive, high reviews, low fail rate.

Cons: I just happened to be one of the few unlucky guys to get memory that was DoA. Installed the memory into a virgin machine, and immediately was encountering a multitude of Page_Fault_in_Nonpaged_Area from Windows. Memtest found a bunch of unwritable bad sectors.

Other Thoughts: Being issued a replacement, but I know it will take at least a week just for it to ship back to newegg, to process, then another week for it to arrive.

It's a darn shame, now I have a giant paper weight of a newly built computer until the replacement memory arrives.

5 out of 5 eggsGood low power budget ram

Pros: Fast, low power, easy on the wallet

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this ram for a budget server where low power consumption was a big factor. 1.35V doesn't seem like a big difference from 1.8V but for a build designed to run 24/7 it will add up over time.

When I got the ram I put it in an existing rig and ran memtest on it for 3 days, passed with flying colors.

Another plus is since its low voltage, it should have a good overclock potential without going above 1.8V

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect upgrade for Optiplex

Pros: Used these to upgrade Dell Optiplex 380's and 390's running Windows 7 64 bit. Worked perfect, no problems.

Cons: Not free

Other Thoughts: These were for business use, not for gaming, not doing any over clocking, so I can't speak for their performance for that purpose. If you run Windows 7 Pro with XP Mode, you're gonna want the extra RAM. By default, XP Mode is allocated 512Mb of RAM, but you will want to give it 1Gb - 2Gb if you run much in it, which means you need extra RAM in your PC. 8Gb...wow! That's 8192 times the amount of RAM in the first PC I built! :)
