5 out of 5 eggsCrucial M4, the best in general use SSD

Pros: Easy install, cloned from an image I previously made using Acronis. Booted the first time. When I first received it I ran a full error scan using HDTune 2.55 and found no errors. Ran a quick scan afterwards with no problems. It runs cool unlike the Kingstons, and is very light. You can also update the firmware without losing information on the drive.

The system is a Toshiba Satellite with 1GB DDR2 and Celeron 585 at 2.16GHZ running 32bit Windows 7 Enterprise (my customer purchased this used, you explain this to me)

Using HDTune 2.55 I received:
• Average Transfer Rate – 207.8MBs
• Access Time – 0.1ms

Boot times
• Boot – 45 seconds to desktop, 55 seconds until all software loads.
• Shutdown – 8 seconds

The slow boot time is due to the lack of RAM in this system, please look at “Other Thoughts”

Cons: None! Crucial makes a great product. Of all the SSDs I have installed I have only had one defective from them.

Other Thoughts: At the last minute my customer approved upgrading the RAM to 2GB. Though I was unable to take the time to measure the difference, it felt as though it was at least twice as fast booting up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD and comes with all the accessories.

Pros: - Fast!
- Came with a 2.5" to 3.5" bracket and a cable.

Cons: - Purchased at $80. It really should be cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, Fast, Fast

Pros: Super Fast
It's fast
Holds files
Crucial's reliability (i think)

Cons: It's expensive (but you knew that already)

Other Thoughts: Using this in a HTPC with an Intel G850 2.9 GHz. Everything is so fast, which makes for a good experience.

I noticed some of the reliability complaints in here and wanted to throw out that I've been using a 256 Gb M4 in my Lenovo x220 for over a year without issue. So far, I've been really impressed with crucial's products.

3 out of 5 eggsFast, but failed after 6 months

Pros: Very fast, good build quality - all the normal SSD advantages

Cons: Failed after only 7 months of use. This is less than the OCZ I bought before - that lasted 10 months before dying. Drive became intermittent over the past few weeks, with frequent hanging of the entire system, and sometimes it wouldn't even recognize the drive on boot. Upgrading the firmware seemed to make it a little more stable, but it then died completely after another week.

I am a mobile worker so I can be hard on laptops and drives ... but the point of SSDs is no moving parts, right? Come on Crucial ... very disappointed.

2 out of 5 eggsFailures are not just for hard drives with moving parts

Pros: Nice and fast as advertized. Booting Windows XP with this drive takes just a few seconds.

Cons: The drive starting failing intermittently after 7 months. I couldn't believe a drive with no moving parts could fail so soon, so I moved it to another system, and sure enough, after a little while it went south. Thankfully, after power-cycling, it stayed up long enough to clone the contents to an old HDD I had lying around, so I was back up and running on the old reliable spinning platters of a drive from 2007--and it didn't seem that much slower either. Now we'll see how Crucial's warranty response is.

5 out of 5 eggsgood SSD

Pros: -crucial's SSD reliability

Cons: -price of course

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for 90bucks, I dunno what's the difference between this and the other crucial 64GB ssd for 80bucks but for 10bucks difference I went for this and figure maybe this one got something better than the other (paper wise they got same specs)

I bought this as OS boot up and still had 35Gb free space left after all the updates and essential stuff is installed (i.e. jave/adobe flash etc. etc.) that's enough space to install a few games to make them load faster.

This was my first SSD and normally on a mechanical SSD installing OS and all the updates/essential programs takes 3-4hours easy, with this it took me under 2hrs to do all that (your internet speed would be your limit) there may be some other SSD that got higher seq. write out there for a bit more money but really? if your gonna buy a 64GB SSD it's prolly for OS boot up so do you really need that much write speed when your just using it for boot up, not to mention others got reliability issue.. go crucial for 64G
