1 out of 5 eggsIncompatible

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: N/A
since I was not able to get it to work.

Cons: I bought this product for my new rig with ASUS MAXIMUS HERO VII. I verified compatibility issue from Crucial website.

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/maximus-vii-hero/CT5874770

However, when I equipped this product on HERO VII, DIMM slots' ejector tab did not shut.

Other Thoughts: I really do not have any issue with this product, it probably is a great memory. I am more disappointed in how Crucial for posting false information on their website.

5 out of 5 eggsUltra low profile DDR3

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: Extremely low profile, extremely low voltage, extremely tight timings. Is so low profile, that it not only easily fits underneath my Noctua NH-D14, I can actually install/uninstall them, without moving the heatsink at all.

Cons: Quite expensive for 1600/12,800GB/s

Other Thoughts: Buy some, before the price goes even higher. DDR3 prices are going up, not down.

5 out of 5 eggsBest memory I've owned

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: Low profile, cas 8, AND low voltage. I did have an issue with the XMP profiles dropping the memory to 1333 in the bios, but manually setting the memory to 1600 works fine. Stable @ 1.35V. Waiting for a good sale to pick up another pair.

Cons: Price.

5 out of 5 eggsCrucial is the best

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: By far the best PC memory on the market. I've used most of the brands out there and can tell you without a doubt that Crucial delivers performance and quality.

Cons: NONE.

Other Thoughts: It just kills me to see others commenting about purchasing low voltage memory for the power savings or otherwise ranting about the memory not working properly. Please to your research - the memory is low voltage for compatibility with newer design processors. It will not work in systems that were designed for 1.5 volt memory.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS P8Z77-V PRO: Some hiccups

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: Solid, low profile, fast so far
Decently priced
Arrived very fast, as usual - thanks, Newegg

Cons: Failed to POST when installed into the A2/B2 slots, which ASUS recommends for "best compatibility." Installing into the A1/B1 slots works fine so far, with proper clock speeds & timings. Chalking this up to a BIOS issue for now, which I haven't updated in a long time

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from my old Corsair 8GB kit because my system was pushing 7+ GB of RAM usage with multiple content creation programs open. Now I'm free to load whatever I want and not have to worry about swapping. Everything also feels a bit snappier now, which is a nice bonus.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent DDR3 RAM

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: The Crucial Ballistix Tactical DDR3-1600 RAM is excellent low voltage memory and had zero errors. I have run it at 1,666 MHz effective with 8-8-8-20 timings and 1.345v. It will also run overclocked at 2,133 MHz effective with 11-11-11-30 or better timings with a bump in voltage. I'd definitely recommend this RAM to those looking for flexibility of speed, timings, and voltage with good performance.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: So far in gaming and limited benchmarking that doesn't require absurd amounts of sheer memory bandwidth, my new Haswell-R build seems to prefer tighter timings vs higher frequencies.

2 out of 5 eggsBad Ram

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0

Pros: Low profile, low voltage, low latency

Cons: I was pretty excited to try this ram, however, it's been years since I've used Crucial, and now I remember why I switched companies. One (or both) of these sticks was bad and causing me constant freezes, crashes, lockups, etc on my new build. After racking my head for days on this checking everything from hardware to software to drivers, to bios settings. Finally, I decided to try ram from my old system and instantly the problems went away. This will probably be my last time purchasing Crucial. They used to have such solid products back in the day.
