5 out of 5 eggsASUS P8Z77-V PRO: Some hiccups

Pros: Solid, low profile, fast so far
Decently priced
Arrived very fast, as usual - thanks, Newegg

Cons: Failed to POST when installed into the A2/B2 slots, which ASUS recommends for "best compatibility." Installing into the A1/B1 slots works fine so far, with proper clock speeds & timings. Chalking this up to a BIOS issue for now, which I haven't updated in a long time

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from my old Corsair 8GB kit because my system was pushing 7+ GB of RAM usage with multiple content creation programs open. Now I'm free to load whatever I want and not have to worry about swapping. Everything also feels a bit snappier now, which is a nice bonus.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent DDR3 RAM

Pros: The Crucial Ballistix Tactical DDR3-1600 RAM is excellent low voltage memory and had zero errors. I have run it at 1,666 MHz effective with 8-8-8-20 timings and 1.345v. It will also run overclocked at 2,133 MHz effective with 11-11-11-30 or better timings with a bump in voltage. I'd definitely recommend this RAM to those looking for flexibility of speed, timings, and voltage with good performance.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: So far in gaming and limited benchmarking that doesn't require absurd amounts of sheer memory bandwidth, my new Haswell-R build seems to prefer tighter timings vs higher frequencies.

2 out of 5 eggsBad Ram

Pros: Low profile, low voltage, low latency

Cons: I was pretty excited to try this ram, however, it's been years since I've used Crucial, and now I remember why I switched companies. One (or both) of these sticks was bad and causing me constant freezes, crashes, lockups, etc on my new build. After racking my head for days on this checking everything from hardware to software to drivers, to bios settings. Finally, I decided to try ram from my old system and instantly the problems went away. This will probably be my last time purchasing Crucial. They used to have such solid products back in the day.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat fast memory

Pros: This memory is much faster than the g.skill stuff i replaced it with. It's expensive, in my opinion, but worth it.

Cons: non that I can think of...

Other Thoughts: Regarding the "low profile"- these things are much better than the g.skill sticks I replaced. As other reviewers said, it's low profile enough to use a massive heat stink and fan.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware!!

Pros: Great ram works perfectly but i received a 2x4 kit not a 2x8 kit. the box was labeled correctly but the ram inside was not correct. Double check your ram sticks the box may lie!!!

Cons: Great ram works perfectly but i received a 2x4 kit not a 2x8 kit. the box was labeled correctly but the ram inside was not correct. Double check your ram sticks the box may lie!!!

Other Thoughts: I suspect someone scammed new egg by retuning the wrong ram.

3 out of 5 eggsWaiting............

Pros: I didn't say it before but the low voltage (1.35) is why I bought these.

Cons: It isn't worth buying "low voltage" memory if you'll never recover the higher cost because they are way over priced.

Other Thoughts: I'm still waiting to see if the price comes back down on these. I'd like to buy at least one more pair.

5 out of 5 eggsI could've probably bought cheaper RAM...

Pros: Very fast, compatible RAM. You can't go wrong with this if you need DDR3-1600 RAM, unless you were trying to save money - cuz this isn't your cheapest option...

Cons: Not really any negatives. This is not the lowest of the low-profile RAM, because the heat spreaders add a few millimeters of height. Not a problem for me.

Other Thoughts: Used in GIGABYTE GA-Z87N-WIFI motherboard, no problems.
