5 out of 5 eggsGreat Customer Service

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2K4G3D169DS3

Pros: Cheap and reasonable performance. I bought my RAM for my machine in 2013. Recently my machine keept blue screening which was very RARE. My jaw dropped just by the fact that my machine got a blue screen. I always assumed I was much more likely to discover a unicorn than a BSOD Stop Error. Anyways after a total of 7 hours of testing the ram sticks in various RAM slots to confirm that it was only the RAM stick, I was able to come to the conclusion that it was a bad RAM stick. Called Crucial support in the morning, had a wonderful easy to understand accent. The rep asked for basic information that is glued on the the RAM module, in less than 7 minutes he had approve my RMA. New RAM stick arrived in 2 days. Tested the new RAM over and over to confirm working condition. I was happy and satisfied!

Cons: The RAM heatsink is weird. I love the blue color none the less. I was able to place 4 stick next to each other on my GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3. They do not touch each other but they are basically breathing on each other.

Other Thoughts: The RMA process is weird in my opinion.
1.) I paid about $30+/- they sent me another memory stick via UPS 2 day shipping. They said they would refund me the full amount after I ship the defective memory back to them. I use the same packaging to ship my memory back to them. I went to USPS and went with the cheapest shipping method which cost me under <$3.00

2) Option two was I ship the ram to them and they ship me the new ram at no cost.

I went with option 1 in order to get shipping materials and get new RAM asap. They will refund me my $30+/- soon hopefully. If they don't I will come back and change my review.

5 out of 5 eggsAffordable Gaming Ram

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2K4G3D169DS3

Pros: -Cheap gaming Ram.

only thing you need to watch out for is what mother board your putting your ram into. I had to up the voltage to make this ram work in my motherboard, but I dont think that was the RAM's issue. ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 is the motherboard that im using. The ram works in it but needs you to ajust the power settings.

Cons: Read above, not really an issue with the game, just my motherboard.

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2K4G3D169DS3

5 out of 5 eggsSolid RAM

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2K4G3D169DS3

Pros: Solid RAM. It worked right out of the box: fit perfectly into the slots, and the motherboard recognized it immediately and at the proper speed with no advanced configuration or tweaking needed. I've been running this RAM for around 4 months now with no issues.

Cons: None, really. I've had no problems with it.

Other Thoughts: Before buying this RAM I used the tools at Crucial's website to make sure the RAM was fully compatible with my motherboard selection. Crucial's tool seemed more complete and useful than those I've seen on other RAM manufacturer's websites. They listed it as compatible with my motherboard and it worked correctly right out of the box.

My Setup:

AMD FX 6350 CPU
MSI 970a-G46 Motherboard
nVidia GTX 760 GPU
8 GB (4x2)Crucial Ballistix Sport XT RAM
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750B 750 watt PSU
Lian Li PC-K7B Case

3 out of 5 eggsWorks, then Dies

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2K4G3D169DS3

Pros: Worked just fine for four months.

Cons: Now it doesn't.

Memory Management BSOD, needs to be replaced.

Other Thoughts: It was fine in the morning, played a lot of Skyrim, went out, came home to play a game of League, and I got multiple blue screens. MEMTEST reported back thousands of errors, and Windows Memory Diagnostic told me that there was a problem with it, and to contact the manufacturer. I hope I can either fix this or get an RMA soon.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective or not compatible

This review is from: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2K4G3D169DS3

Pros: It's a pretty color

Cons: Either defective or not compatible with the ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer AM3+ motherboard. After reading the reviews I'm pretty sure it's not compatible.
