5 out of 5 eggsWhy discontinured?

Pros: Excellent ram. Been working perfectly for 2 years. Moving them over to my new Intel build this week :)

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: Why was this ram discontinued? And why has the price gone up more than double? I paid $39.99 in Feb 2012 for these.

4 out of 5 eggsWhats up with RAM prices?!!

Pros: These have been running rock solid since summer of 2012, The heatsinks didn't move a budge when I got them and are still intact. Good speeds, and keeps nice and cool. And I got em for $43!

Cons: $90 freaking dollars for 8gb? WTH? Giving 4 eggs for ridiculous price rise in memory.

5 out of 5 eggsGood RAM!

Pros: Nice heat spreaders, looks great, decent latency. Both sticks were recognized and my mobo had no problem clocking them to their rated 1600mhz. Also got them on sale for $61! If I have the $$ next time they go on sale I'll buy another kit for a total of 16gbs. I'd recommend this kit, solid reviews and the least amount of DOA reviews of most of the kits I've looked into buying. Crucial seems to have a lot more DOA issues than most other companies.

Cons: No cons really!

Other Thoughts: Remember to check your RAM compatibility list for your Motherboard. WIntec was not listed on my ASRock 990FX Extreme3 mobo but I was pretty happy that my system fired right up and the ram works great!

4 out of 5 eggsHeat sink was loose, but worked ok

Pros: Runs smooth at 1600 - if you can get the memory installed without the heat sinks separating. Once I put the heat sink back on the memory and firmly held it together to press into memory slot it was fine.

Cons: Heat sink is designed to open from pressure on top, about the same pressure required to seat into memory slot.

Other Thoughts: Memory is good, took one egg for having to reassemble memory.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looks great
Cheap
1600Mhz dual channel

Cons: Heatspreader came off in shipping. It snapped back on fine, but I'm concerned that it'll fall off and short out my motherboard or video card.

1 out of 5 eggsHeatsinks fall off

Pros: Chips seem to work fine according to MemTest. The heatsinks look good and it feels like they're heavy duty.

Cons: On the first day of use, the heatsink on one stick fell off. I noticed it was crooked and when I touched the stick to see if it had somehow come unseated, it fell off in my hand. It could have easily shorted out the motherboard if I hadn't noticed it. The heatsink on the other stick was loose when I jiggled it. There is nothing but a piece of double sided tape to hold each of the two halves of the heatsink onto the chip faces. When the chips heat up, the tape glue softens and they fall off. Astoundingly poor design.

Other Thoughts: I had to pay the return shipping for this defective product.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: - Heatsinks are poorly secured or wrongly installed. Of the two, one had the heatsinks fall off immediately, the other had one side applied so low that it wouldn't seat in the slot properly.
- Despite being advertised as 1600, my motherboard detected these as 1333. They seem to run fine at 1600, but I haven't verified the timings at that speed.

Other Thoughts: I had purchased this set of memory because it was the cheapest available at the time. I would not likely do so again.
