Intel Solid State Drives (Intel SSDs) represent a revolutionary breakthrough that delivers a giant leap in storage performance. The high-performance storage for notebook and desktop PCs, Intel X25-M, is now made on 34nm NAND flash memory featuring the Intel Solid State Drive (Intel SSD) Toolbox. With sustained sequential read speed up to 250MB/s and write speed up to 70MB/s, the Intel X25-M mainstream SSDs are designed to satisfy the most demanding gamers, media creators, and technology enthusiasts. These drives bring a high level of performance and reliability to notebook and desktop PC storage, at a fraction of the cost of the previous generation of Intel SSD products.

  • newegg Wait less. Do more Why wait for a traditional hard disk drive to spin up? Unlike traditional hard disk drives, Intel SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in a quiet, cool, highly rugged storage solution that also offers faster system responsiveness. And for laptop PCs, the lower power needs of Intel SSDs translate to longer battery life and lighter notebooks. Higher performance with more durability means you can be truly mobile with confidence.
  • newegg Better by design Drawing from decades of memory engineering experience, and now on new, industry-leading compute-quality 34nm NAND flash memory manufacturing processes, Intel Mainstream SATA Solid-State Drives are designed to deliver outstanding performance, featuring the latest-generation native SATA interface with an advanced architecture employing 10 parallel NAND flash channels equipped with multi-level cell NAND flash memory. With powerful Native Command Queuing to enable up to 32 concurrent operations, Intel Mainstream SATA SSDs deliver higher input/output per second and throughput performance than other SSDs on the market today – and drastically outperform traditional hard disk drives. These drives also feature low write amplification and a unique wear-leveling design for higher reliability, meaning Intel drives not only perform better – they last longer.
  • newegg Intel SSD Toolbox with Intel SSD Optimizer The Intel SSD Toolbox with Intel SSD Optimizer provides a set of applications to easily manage the health and optimize the performance of your Intel SSD. The Intel SSD Toolbox includes a powerful set of management, information, and diagnostic tools, and is designed to work best with 34nm Intel SSDs. The Intel SSD Optimizer utilizes the new ATA Data Set Management Command (Trim Attribute) to help maintain your SSDs performance at "fresh-out-of-the-box" levels, and is specifically designed to run with Microsoft Windows 7. The Intel SSD Optimizer also works with Microsoft Windows Vista and XP operating systems as well.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: 1. Faster then my other SATA II hard drives (not ssd).

Cons: Price, $200 for 80GB? Actually 70GB in Win7 64bit. Way too expensive.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these, one for wife and one for myself. We have MMOs on here, and that's all these are for. WOW loads a tad faster on her computer. However, it loads super fast on mine. Who knows why ...

Either way, a worthy investment.

5 out of 5 eggsno problems here

Pros: No problems with installation and no problems after four months of heavy daily use. Still gets higher than the advertised speeds at 263 MB/s / 81 MB/s sequential read/write in Crystalmark (Windows 7 64bit). Anything running from this drive loads noticeably faster.

Cons: I don't believe the manual mentioned anything about setting your drives as ACHI, which you have to do to get the best performance out of it.

Not much storage for the price. Would be great if hard drives were eliminated altogether but its not economically feasible yet.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper fast. Buy it now!

Pros: - Very fast
- Very small (physically...)
- Uses practically no power
- No noise at all

Cons: - Very small (storage wise)

Other Thoughts: To anyone building a new machine, I highly recommend picking one of these up. They make a much larger difference than any other upgrade you could possibly make.

5 out of 5 eggsGood drive

Pros: It is fast, noiseless, and small

Cons: No 2.5-3.5" bracket, but that was to be expected with an OEM drive, only 80Gb

Other Thoughts: Buy one, I am going to buy another since they are so small

1 out of 5 eggsChanCEConflict

Pros: Incredible low latency.
Rocks for Hi IO gaming, or hi IO design work.

Cons: For the hype dirt slow performance <100MBPS , Raptors and even 7K.C Deathstars out perform it in linear access.

Under XP / XP tablet there is no noticeable speed improvements over the Black 7200 RPM laptop drives.

Less then a Second speed up for W7 boot (compared to raptors) and they may be from running the system in IDE vs AHCI RAID.

Between 500 – 1000H of operation the drive reduced it self to 8MB by establishing an HPA of 74.5GB and changing the serial number to ChanCEConflict.

Intel Support Sucks.

Other Thoughts: I got this drive from Intel Retail Edge, you would think they would do every thing in their power to make sure we got a good unit.

CAN NOT RMA IT. AS THEY REFUSE TO AGREE TO A NDA, OR SUPPLY A UTILITY TO ERADICATE THE DATA.

Even with the ChanCE failure and the HPA being enabled for no reason at all. The DATA is still accessible and intact (with the right tools) :( as some of it is related to NDAs I’m part of I need to destroy the data in a way that the warranty will still be honored, which Intel refused to provide.

DO NOT USE THIS FOR DATA THAT NEEDS TO BE SECURED. THE WAY THE FAILURE PROFILE IS IT LOCKS DOWN THE DATA, AND LOCKS YOUR WRITE PRIVILEGES AWAY. SO IF YOU PUT NON SHAREABLE DATA ON IT YOU ARE F’ED IN THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT. G. D. IT.

5 out of 5 eggsWow.....

Pros: Install your operating system on this and you will not regret it. Turn your computer on and windows, startups, everything is already loaded dang near instantly.

Cons: So far none.

Other Thoughts: Price could be better, but the moment I put this bad boy in I felt like I had just bought a new computer. For
$209.99 this thing is most definetly worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsMakes Nice Notebook Upgrade

Pros: Speed, Low Power Consumption & Heat, Intel Reputation, Sale Price on Black Friday!

Cons: Didn't come with spacer to equal size of 2.5" HD.

Other Thoughts: Installed in Dell Mini 10v running Snow Leopard 10.6.2. Drive is fast and solid so far. Flashed newest firmware (release date 11/30/09) before cloning existing HD. SSD didn't come with the black plastic spacer seen on other Intel SSD's to match dimensions of standard 2.5" HD, so had to improvise to fit into system. Also, HD temp. sensor does not function now as drive is not thick enough to contact it. I'm sure sensor could be relocated to correct this. Came in OEM type packaging consisting of bare SSD only.
