2 out of 5 eggsCompatibility Issues

Pros: Small, new tech.

Cons: not Compatible with my Z97-A ASUS board.

Other Thoughts: Intel and ASUS could do better.

4 out of 5 eggsM.2 is incredible...

Pros: First time using an M2 SSD. Very easy to install and even easier to setup. I used Acronis to restore my OS - no problems. Found - restored - and was up and running within 5-10 minutes. Boot speed is not even something worth mentioning, by the time the BIOS beeps W7 is up.

Benchmark was slower than my M5 Plextor SSD, showing 99 write and 391 read. Thats on paper. Real world I cant tell a difference.

Inexpensive and more importantly, 5-year warranty.

Cons: None (yet).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, easier to install than SATA SSDs, low profile

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If you have a motherboard that supports m.2, there is no reason to get a 2.5 inch SSD over this thing. There are no cables, it's very small, it's very fast, I can't think of a single disadvantage

5 out of 5 eggsForm Factors

Pros: I do not own this product yet. Purchasing for a MSI Z97-Gaming 3 mobo.

Cons: I had to dig to find the compatibility information for the motherboard, posted below.

Other Thoughts: Form Factors: M.2 80 mm (single- and double-sided)
− 2280-S2-B-M (80 GB and 180 GB)
− 2280-D2-B-M (120 GB and 360 GB)

The 2280 form is 80mm long.

5 out of 5 eggsSpecs are easy to find

Pros: Newegg carries a vast amount of products and sometimes are unable to completely fill out all the information someone might want. A simple Google search for the product by the consumer can provide more detailed information that they "NEED".
The following information is provided straight from Intel's website and gives a clear listing of all product details. No hyperlink left due to Newegg's review policy but it was the top listing from a Google Search "intel SSDSCKGW080A401".

Although this drive appears to have decent specs, I do not own this product yet so can not attest to it's performance.

Cons: Before you buy a product, if it does not have all the information you require, do a search for the product and if that proves unsuccessful, contact the vendor directly, otherwise it is your own fault for buying a product without doing proper research especially if you have a Technical Level 5 knowledge base.

4 out of 5 eggsIts a new SSD!

Pros: It is thin! It is 22mm X 80mm. Fast read and write speeds.

Cons: Will not fit in the M.2 combo card in Asus Maximus VI boards, their motherboard coolers get in the way you need 22mm by 42mm at the most (refer to asus motherboard manual).
Had to buy a M2PS Dual M.2 (NGFF) SSD to SATA Adapter to use this with my Maximus VI Formula (Needed PCIe x1, because the x4 adapters require me to remove the ROG armor to use)

Other Thoughts: Vendors like Newegg should give out better specs, like dimensions (there's 30mm to 110mm) and connections. This card has an M and B key that can only fit in certain sockets (Socket 2 and 3 types). You NEED to know these things before hand it isnt like mxm 3.0b that has a uniform dimension and socket.
I feel like the only thing uniform in NGFF M.2 form facotrs are that they are 22mm wide.
