Quality Control??
- Pros: DDR3 at what used to be a fair price ($80-ish)
- Cons: The first customer rig I sell to a customer with this ram crashes and BSOD after about one month, just long enough to loose my ability to RMA with newegg...
After an hour or two of fighting to try and get the computer to load to login, i finally test the ram, and boom! another BSOD... Took the stick out and the computer ran perfect. Had to swap the memory out with a spare set I had on-hand, dealing with PNY's iffy RMA process, waste of my time... Won't be using PNY in my builds anymore.
- Other Thoughts: Great looking heat sinks with low profile height.
- Pros: Cheap, worked pretty fast in my computer with everything installed as stock. Have a Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3P, GA-R4650OC-1G PCI-E2, 500GB WD HDD, 700WT OCZ PSU.
- Cons: Computer began to freeze up in a few weeks, kept BSOD on me and went through random reboots. Ran memtest and one of the sticks failed. Did RMA with newegg and got it replaced pretty quick. Ran fine for about a month this time and same thing again. This time I had run out of RMA time with newegg and so contacted PNY, sent my ram in and saw that they received it but I haven't heard from them since.
- Other Thoughts: Memtest did not show any errors after I had installed the second set when I ran it for the first time. after the BSOD it showed errors. I enjoyed the other PNY video cards that I had in my older computers but will definitely buy something else than PNY Ram.
Avoid This Product
- Pros: It was cheap, it came as a combo deal with my ECS motherboard.
- Cons: My build never worked right from day 1. Weird errors installing apps and each time Windows XP started up. I was convinced it was the graphics, the motherboard and even the Vertex SSD. Swapping out those components did not fix the problem. I finally discovered memtest+ and started using that to diagnose. Both sticks displayed errors after just one pass, and they kept erroring through more passes. I wish to heaven I had paid closer attention to the reviews on this product before I bought it; that would have saved me a lot of grief.
- Other Thoughts: Had good luck with GSkill memory on another build, so I bought a pair of Ripjaws to replace these. Ran nine passes of memtest+ on each stick and zero errors. Popped them in, installed all my apps and the machine is now running flawlessly.
