1 out of 5 eggsWorst Ever!!

Pros: None

Cons: Lasted about 4 days, I actually think I was able to load windows 10 from it on 2 computers before it bit the dust.

1 out of 5 eggsgarbage!

Pros: 64GB storage.
Free (with purchase of SSD)

Cons: SLOW
lock up Windows explorer for 45 sec. +

I received 2 of these FREE with 2 SSDs I purchased. This allowed me to troubleshoot and I lost only time. When ever I plug into either a USB 2 or USB 3 port, the computer takes about 45 sec. to recognize the drive. And whenever Windows scans drives (like when u plug in another flash or external HDD, when it gets to this flash drive, wait another 45sec+. Once recognized, you can open and close the drive quickly.
SLOW - sequential read - 111.6 write - 31

I got the exact same results with both drives.
All other USB 3 devices (even 2 PNY 32GB flash drives (same exact drives as these but 32GB) 3 external USB HDDs, Corsair USB 3.0 flash all work normal. Quick recognition, and rates abound 150 read and 50 write (HDDs were faster obviously)

Other Thoughts: If I paid for these I'd be MAD!
My problem is I can't bring myself to toss them, but I don't trust them for any use....

maybe keep them for OS installs? (I'll have to test them on boot up) (too bad I used my old 2.0 USBs for that)

5 out of 5 eggsBoot drive

Pros: Never lose another cap again. Became my boot drive for the optical-less build. USB 3.0 means its super fast.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Rig set up
Asus Sabertooth Mark 1
Intel i7 4970k
Corsair Vengance 8g 1600
Samsung 850 EVO 500gb SSD
WD Black 1tb HDD
EVGA GTX 970 4gb SSC
NZXT Kraken x60 water cooling
NZXT S340 case
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

All seem to work effortlessly together. Build went off without a hitch. First build in 6 years. First time using SSD and water cooling. All the info I needed was found on YouTube and the manuals that came with the products.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Flash Drive No Led Activity Indicator

Pros: Preformes well on USB3 or 2 as per specifications. Pricing excellent. PNY is a reliable memory company and name.

Cons: No Indicator LED for transfer activity and knowing the drive is active.

The Landyard holes thru the top & side at 45 degree angle makes it difficault to mount rings or clip and looks like the plastic could break easly causing loss of the Flash Drives

Other Thoughts: Transfering large files, it's nice to know by visual indication the flash drive is not active and still transfring date. Upon eject a LED activity indicator prevents corrupt files and possible corruption of the whole drive and it's contents.

I would select other Flash drive over this one due to the lack of an LED Activity indicator.

5 out of 5 eggsHas Blinking Light

Pros: If I had known these were still made with blinking activity lights I would have got alot more. Sliding cap ok speed is fine by me, in the 3.0, even when I use it in my 2.0 usb port.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Hope to see more colors to help organize.

4 out of 5 eggsGood transfer speeds

Pros: * Large capacity.
* Good transfer speeds.
* Current pricing and 99 cent shipping, very affordable.

Cons: * Sliding cover will permit dust and dirt inside the contact area of the connector. Not the best option for keeping in a linty pocket or dirty environment.

* Warranty could be better. Only 1 year in USA.

Other Thoughts: I did an unofficial test comparing this flash drive to my old PNY USB2 16GB Attache flash drive using the same two image files totaling 7.81GB.

* New 64GB..... read 115 MB/s write 27.7 MB/s
* Old 16GB...... read 15.6 MB/s write 9.7 MB/s

I noticed after several reads and writes the 64GB drive felt warm. I then let it cool and recorded a 70(F) temperature. After 20 minutes of continuous use the temperature rose to 74.5(F). Not an unbearable temperature, but worth noting.

3 out of 5 eggsLasted just over a year.

Pros: Was very large and cheap storage at time I bought it.

Cons: Warranty was only 1 year, device lasted 14 months 8(

Other Thoughts: Spend another 5 bucks, go with another company or name that will back up their products with a 5 year or lifetime warranty. Companies that only offer 1 year do it for a their devices stop working shortly there after.

Pros: It does exactly as it advertises.

Cons: The plastic sliding cover was tough to move at first but I've broken it in since then and it's fine now.

2 out of 5 eggsNot what it should be

Pros: It's better than USB2.0

Cons: Not getting the expected USB3.0 speeds. CrystalDiskMark reports 127MB/s seq read and 30MB/s seq write, 106MB/s 512k read, 14BM/s 512k write. These write speeds are at least 4x lower than expected. Not good....

2 out of 5 eggsUnrelyable at best

Pros: Sliding Cover is nice.

Cons: Almost unusable after 2 months:
It all began fine - recognized in 3.0 port for about 2 weeks, then started to "not respond" in any 3.0 port. Found that it worked fine in a 2.0 port... for about another 2-3 weeks. Now, I have to unplug and plug it back in several times in a 2.0 port before it shows up. When it does show up, data transfer rates vary consistently between 70KBPS - 1200KBPS with sudden and infrequent bursts of 2-5MBPS. This occurs on any PC's. Other drives and devices work fine in the same 2.0 and 3.0 ports, transferring over 70MBPS on the 3.0's.

Other Thoughts: 2 eggs because it hasn't completely failed. I use it in the field at client locations just to move a few docs between systems. I'll be getting a replacement drive this weekend, since this one is becoming so problematic.

Sorry PNY - This was my 1st of your thumb drives. Unfortunately, probably my last...
