Brian 8/9/2012 9:44:40 AM Tech Level: 5/5 Ownership: 5/5	Rating: 2/5Lasted for a while Pros: Fast, cool, low power consumption. Cons: Just doesn't last. Died after 15 months of low use. Other Thoughts: I had issues with this drive being picked up in the BIOS from the beginning. Neither ADATA or my PC manufacturer could help with this issue. At about 12 months of use I started getting BSOD about twice a month. At 15 months the drive is simple unrecognizable by any system. I have the S599 installed in a Asus U43JC. I ran this system, on average, 2 hours per day. In comparison, the OCZ, which I installed in my workstation, has ran almost continuously for 20 months. Did you find this review helpful? Cons: One of these drives failed on me as well. It started failing early on completely sporradically, about once every two months or so. Then this week it just died and did not want to come back up. Plugging from SATA port to SATA port has provided some activity, but only enough to maybe move some files before it dies again. Had this RAID'ed up with another one. Now I have to ditch them both because this is an obviously poorly made product by my experience and those other comments left above. Only pro is the other drive still works fine. Yes it took a while for them to release a firmware update but overall im really happy with this purchase. From the time I hit my power button to when windows 7 ultimate is fully loaded and useable is 29 seconds. Its so amazing. Cons: None of my other drives can keep up! :l Other Thoughts: Write now this drive is only $65 that is only about $1 per gigabyte. That is really good seeing I paid $100 for mine. I say jump on it. Yes some people get DOA drives but hey no company is perfect. Yes the fail rate could be lower but you wont be dissapointed. Did you find this review helpful? I know that it probably just needs a firmware update, but it's not possible to do when ADATA's own firmware upgrade tool won't see the drive. SHAME ON YOU ADATA for selling a known defective drive to people and not offering any easy way to contact you to resolve problems. Other Thoughts: I called the support # given in other posts here over 10 times, but nobody ever answers. I left messages every time and have not received any reply. ADATA is a JOKE. I have two of them currently in a stripped configuration for my gaming rig (OS/Game files only) Cold boots up in about 30 seconds to a usable desktop, very happy, though wish the price would drop so I could add two more for a 4 drive stripe :D Cons: Price on these has dropped from $109 to $104 since I bought them a year ago, been waiting for them to drop more substantially so I could pick up a couple more. Cons: one of my raid ssd's died within a month. so i lost all my data. replaced it and now 9 months later the other drive is failing. NOT HAPPY ADATA!!! horrible quality control. Initially it worked well but it was not as fast as stated. After 3 month, there was IO errors once a while. I need power it off and restart. And It hapened more offten. I contacted AData for exchange. The support was good. I got a new one 2 weeks later. The new one worked well for about 2 month. And now it stop working. I lost all my data. Other drives mounted in the same machine have no problem at all. I also tried different sata port - no help. Other Thoughts: I moved out of USA. I am not sure if it is worth to replace it again.
