5 out of 5 eggsSolid for light computer users

This review is from: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This SSD has been installed for about 7 months now, no problems. It is perfectly adequate for users who do nothing but internet browsing, email and office applications. Also nice that it came with a mounting bracket.

Cons: It's a bit small but buyers will be aware of their needs.

Other Thoughts: I installed this on a SATAII interface and it still feels quick. Be aware that after installing Windows, all of it's updates and some essentials, you will be left with 40~50 GBs of free space.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well on a 8.1 HTPC

This review is from: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Real life performance feels as fast as any of my more expensive SSD's that benchmark higher. i.e. fast boots and program start-up.

Plenty of space for my 8.1 HTPC configuration. After loading all my apps and doing the SSDReview optimization 72% of the disk is still available (43GB of 59 formatted free).

Currently the lowest priced 64GB without any promotional tricks.

Includes a download of Acronis True Image for cloning which the Egg listing does not state.

The ADATA SSD toolbox is nicely done.

1 out of 5 eggsDied within a year

This review is from: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This was a cheap and affordable solution for my mothers home computer when her hard drive died. She noticed the speed increase and it was great, while it lasted. Bought in March, it just died now. Not recognized, can't install anything to it--its a brick.

Cons: Seems like a number of reviews show the product life span for this is not very good. Wish this was within return period but I guess an RMA will have to do.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry that your SP900 is not working properly. Unfortunately, DOA does occur from time to time and that is why there is a warranty on our products that covers this issue. Please send it in for an RMA exchange and you will receive a working replacement. The ADATA RMA process is a simple and painless procedure. Please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you,

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from ADATA

This review is from: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Very good price.
The ones that didn't fail on build are still working for the moment.

Cons: Bought limit of 5 and 3 of them failed upon build.
The ones that didn't fail are still working.

2 out of 5 eggsCheap Short-Term Solution

This review is from: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast as an MLC SSD would be expected.

Cons: Died after 2 months of usage in an always-on light use office desk computer.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully the RMA process is fast. We're stuck buying a new SSD to eliminate down time, all of the other brand ssd's we've used haven't had an issue. And yes, power management was turned off since installation.

5 out of 5 eggsFaster than expected

This review is from: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Really fast, i knew the system would be fast but i had no idea it would be this fast
The boot time using this drive and the systems only storage device is between 2 and 2.5 seconds after post.
Has anyone seen my socks?

Cheap at 49.99, a week after i got it the price when to 44.99 and newegg gave me a $5 gift card for the difference via the iron egg policy

These drives no longer have the warranty sticker on top of the mounting hole.

I benchmarked the read speed of this drive, the average speed is infant as advertised on the package at 430MB/s and the seek time appears to be about 0.1ms
* Unused space on the drives reads at the SATA III max of 550MB/s
* I did not check writes speeds, as i don't want to put any unnecessary wear on the drive

Cons: Newegg has the wrong speed specs, this drive is rated at for 430MB/s and 70MB/s write
Writes are a little slow for a SSD, but read speed is the most important IMO, even though it is only 70MB/s writes it is faster than and mechanical drive's write speed
* This rating is on the packaging

The 3.5 to 2.5 inch bay adapter does not work with the tool-less mounting rails on the case, but the case supports 4 2.5 inch drives using its own adapters

Other Thoughts: If you are using windows, you should look at some of the 240GB SSDs, they are getting very affordable now priced at about $100 or at the very least a 120GB SSD, I am running linux so even 32GB is plenty of space for everything. IMO 64GB is cutting it too close for 64bit windows.

I have used 2 of the 32GB versions of this SSD, only issue i had was the firmware on the 1st one, but that was one of the original versions of this series, after that firmware was updated it has not given me any issues
* when updating the firmware on these drives you will loose any data on the drive and have to reinstall/restore your stuff

Part List for this build:
DVD: LITE-ON DVD Burner SATA Model iHAS124-14
RAM: Team Elite Plus 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
SSD: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB
CPU: Intel Pentium G3220 Haswell Dual-Core 3.0GHz
PSU: SeaSonic SS-300ES Bronze 300W ATX12V
MOBO: MSI H81I LGA 1150 Intel H81
Case: Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced
OS: Xubuntu 14.04 64bit

I have the drive partitioned using a GPT partition table
1MiB - Unformatted (current Gparted version does not allow the 1st MiB to be allocated)
1MiB - BIOSGRUB
15GiB - ext4 (mounted as /)
40 some GiB ext4 (mount as /home)

I have /etc/fstab mounting both the ext4 partitions with the noatime and discard options
I have /tmp mounted a ram disk like this:
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults,noatime,mode=1777 0 0

I have used SSDs in other builds, i usually use them in combination with a 7200RPM hdd. Every time I purchased a adata SSD it was based on price. this unit was partly based on the fact that the 32GB models i have installed over a year ago are still working
*The 32GB model is not worth using in a SATA III system due to its SATA II class speed

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good.

This review is from: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I am not having any immediate issues. The boot time with a bare Windows 7 64 on a 4670k is 9.12 seconds. Fast enough for me, I no longer scroll through twitter on my phone when I power up my PC, I don't have the time.

Cons: Sort of cheap feeling, but it only needs to be handled once, then it never gets moved again, for my situation anyway.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely get this SSD again in another build.

It probably doesn't show in the numbers, but it seems just as fast as my Samsung 840 series 120GB SSD in boot, and general operation.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent for Computer LAB

This review is from: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Good performance and disk capacity. Bundled with Limited version of Acronis True Image HD 2013 which came in very handy for migrating partitions.

Cons: The price per gigabyte is a little high but it's still a low investment for a smaller SSD.

Other Thoughts: Good little SSD for testing and general stuff, not really big enough to replace an OS drive but big enough for LAB computers and stuff. The inclusion of Acronis made the product even better.

5 out of 5 eggsNice buy, works great

This review is from: ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Used in a retrofit build. Put Win7 64b on it and use it as the programs drive, while big-capacity spin disks hold user data. Allows my PC to boot super fast. Also included a tray adapter to fit in the HDD bays in my tower - nice touch.

Cons: None here.
