Excellent RAM!
- Pros: Fast RAM, extended heatsinks, rebate
- Cons: Had to set timings manually, but I was using a non-EPP motherboard so that would be expected.
- Other Thoughts: I'm using 8GB with a Core2 Quad system and Vista 64-bit and after manually setting the timings and the voltage these run reliably (which is what I need as this is a video editing system I make a living on). I have run each of the OCCT tests for 8hrs or more and it passed without errors using the 4-4-4-12 timings and 2.1v.
I'm glad I bought them 2 months ago when they were cheaper, but they are still a great value when compared to the alternatives. BTW- just received my rebate check this past week, one of the faster and least problematic rebates I've submitted in a while - thank you Patriot!!
Not 4-4-4 By SPD As Claimed
- Pros: They function. Memtest doesn't show any problems.
- Cons: The SPD is not programmed 4-4-4 as claimed. CPUZ and Memtest both say 5-5-5.
I plugged these sticks into my GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P board and they did not register as 4-4-4. Instead, they are read as 5-5-5, which many others have complained about here.
Also, when I took these to my buddy's house and plugged them into another DDR2 board, the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P, they also did not register as 4-4-4.
So, DO NOT buy these thinking they are 4-4-4.
- Other Thoughts: Newegg, as always, was fantastic!
Stay Away--Don't bother
- Pros: None. Patriot RMA process is underway, so they're pretty responsive.
- Cons: Could not even POST on two separate machines. The GSkills worked fine on the same machines. No overclocking. Don't bother with these, get some GSkill/AData/Corsair.
- Other Thoughts: Look at the reviews on here that have the same problem, and don't ignore them like I did.
There has to be something wrong with this line of Patriot memory for it to have this many problems. I worked at a memory manufacturer a few years ago, and saw a few really bad batches go through because of some engineering mistakes, or maybe a bad chip supplier.
Stay away.
