Update BIOS after all
- Pros: Works like a charm on GA-P35-DS3L (Intel P35) !!!
- Cons: Slightly higher then normal voltage - 1.9V instead of 1.8V.
- Other Thoughts: I just wanted to make an update to my earlier review... In the end I had to update the BIOS of GA-P35-DS3L from F3 to the latest F9b (beta) in order to make the system perform as it should. I did not try any other BIOS versions, so I can't tell if F8 and older would work.
Works on P35 chip sets
- Pros: Allows me to use 16 GB of RAM (I bought two of these kits) on an existing Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L board using XP64. I did not even have to upgrade the BIOS.
This is for a machine that runs Cubase and East West Play Symphonic Orchestra Platinum sample library - all in native x64 mode, so we can use all the RAM we can get...
- Cons: None really.
- Other Thoughts: I had initially wanted to go with the OCZ P45 Special Vista Upgrade since it's cheaper and uses 1.8V instead of 1.9V, but that product is always on back-order. When these became available, I jumped on it.
Now, who needs a 4x2GB kit? :)
Awesome Gaming RAM!!
- Pros: Excellent for gaming and extreme multitasking, popped two sets into my new build and Vista ultimate 64bit recognized all 16gb immediately without a problem. Easily overclocked and they look awesome in my windowed case with those black heat spreaders!!! ran memtest for 48hrs 0 errors on all sticks I would recommend this ram any day 110%
- Cons: if I must say something I would say that you should be careful with the height on these as they would not fit with my Thermaltake Ruby Orb (RAM touching heatsink) other than that it's good cheap RAM in huge amounts!
- Other Thoughts: I like mustard on sandwiches...... :p
