1 out of 5 eggsDead after 1 year

Pros: Acceptable performance.

Cons: Failed exactly one year later.

Other Thoughts: I have SSDs for OCZ, Samsung, Corsair, and Mushkin. The Corsair Force GT has been the best overall. The Mushkin is the only one that has failed.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Drives

Pros: I have 2 of these drives running in raid for a year now and Windows 7 still boots up in about 5 seconds. Windows scores them at 7.9 . Games load real fast. Video editing and recording is smooth with no pauses or frame drops.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: These drives help keep my tower cooler and quieter compared to my old raptor drives.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: Overall, great SSD. Going from my mechanical, 7200RPM WD Black HDD to this SSD...very noticible difference. Of course, this is only my boot drive...most software and all other items will be stored on my RAID array.

Cons: None, Yet.

Other Thoughts: Newegg needs to pack these in a small box when shipping. My drive came in a padded envelope, which was dropped, bent and crushed by the shipper(UPS). The plastic packaging from the manufacturer was cracked and busted. I didn't want the hassle of returning the drive, and it seems to be OK.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Luck

Pros: Lightning fast. 6 seconds from power off to desktop on a fresh windows 7 64 bit install.

Cons: 1 out of 2 arrived DOA. Quality control is atrocious. I bought 2 of these because I have had good experience with Mushkin in the past. Definitely have not this time, and if this is not resolved in a timely fashion, properly, they will never see another dime from me. I hear good things about newegg's replacement policies so I guess it doesn't seem that bad. This is still a huge pain to have to go through this though. $11 to ship this thing back after getting free shipping on the order in the first place.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if I'm ready to give up on Mushkin entirely yet, but this is certainly unacceptable.

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Again, fast, fast, fast.

Cons: Still not sure about reliability

Other Thoughts: This is actually an update to a 2-egg review, as this drive died on my a few months ago. I tried several suggestions about connecting only the power for 30 minutes, then disconnecting for 30 seconds, etc. While this didn't seem to have the desired result, I kept messing with it until finalize the PC saw the drive, and I removed all data from it, installed a partiion table, and so on.

What ended up working is I installed into a external 2.5 drive bay and just kept connecting and reconnecting the drive with the power to the drive bay on. The drive bay has a blue light the comes on initially once the power is turned on, but if no drive is installed, it eventually turns red. Well, even with the drive correctly installed, the light would turn red in just a few seconds. But after having the drive chassis out, and the internal drive connections exposed, I could keep connecting and disconnecting the drive by physically removing it from the chassis connections. Finally, after several tries, I actually got the blue power light to stay blue, don't ask me what the difference was. But as soon as I did that, I connected the USB data cable, and wouldn't you know it, there was the drive. I currently have it under close observation with a Linux install, and so far, it's speed is stupifyingly fast.

If the trend continues without further failures, I will increase the eggs. But if I have to do this every 6 months or so, then it will probably go back down to 2 eggs, as this is in no way convenient, even with the added speed.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked while it lasted

Pros: Worked as advertised, very fast read/write speeds

Cons: Completely dead after about 6 months. Trouble with SSD's is there's no limping along like there is with a conventional hard drive. At least with a conventional drive you can retreive data in most cases. When an SSD is dead, it's dead, no limping, no retrieving data, no nothing. Techs want to tell you to update firmware. Yeah right. Can't update what wait ain't there folks. It's a pity but finally getting around to contacting support. Some folks suggest connecting only power for 30 minutes, and disconnecting for 30 seconds, and repeating. Some folks have had luck with this. Not me. Maybe it's a little different process with Mushkin. Hope so.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked well until it didn't

Pros: Allowed Windows 7 and Windows 8 to start from a cold boot in less than 20 seconds.

Cons: The drive now shuts down after 20 minutes of regular use.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat drives

Pros: Easy to set up, faster than older ssds I own/vertex 2s
Have mine set up in a raid 0 using a Z77 mobo/3770k cpu With Z77 you can have raid 0 with trim!
ATTO benchmark was at or near 1000mbps for larger files with a lowest at around 300 mbps for small files. Shouldbe better with larger versions of deluxe - 120gb and 240bg.

Cons: I wish I had more money to spend. 240gb drives are very reasonably priced. No cons.

Other Thoughts: This is a real alternative to Vertex 4 which uses the same Toshiba memory. Prefer the Mushkin though.
