1 out of 5 eggsGarbage quality control

Pros: None, I'm two kits in with this specific model and it doesn't work.

Cons: Until late last year, I bought and recommended Mushkin products religiously. Recently, however I've been beginning to feel stupid. I originally bought an 8GB kit. One of the memory sticks turned out to be defective after intensive testing, so I bought this kit because I wanted more capacity anyway. My first kit had one bad stick. I RMA'd the first kit through Newegg, and got two bad sticks in return. Thus far I've paid ~$130 for the memory, and $20 in shipping. I've also lost about 8 hours testing both of the bad kits. I'm not sure whats happened to Mushkin in recent years, but this isn't acceptable.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately abandoning Mushkin memory products for future builds after 4 consecutive bad kits.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sticks

Pros: Fast. Set to the default XMP profile, they bench around 25 GB/s with my 3770K. CAS 9 at this speed (9.6ns) achieves better latency than CAS8 @1600 (10ns) and CAS7 @1333 (10.5ns).

Very solid heat spreaders, in fact, some of the best I've seen. They're certainly not the cheap lightweight aluminum ones on other brands, these things are heavy. They seem to run cool as well. Did I mention the red looks bada** in my system?

Cons: First pair I got seemed ok at first, but they threw errors at a few addresses in memtest's random number sequence. It was enough to cause Intel Burn Test to fail with large data sets, but not enough to initially affect stability since the bad cells were several gigabytes into the address space. Mushkin tech support was very kind and helpful with eliminating any other possible conflicts but we ultimately decided that new sticks were needed. Newegg had no problem exchanging them within the intial warranty period.

The new sticks are running perfectly. Since defects occasionally slip through, and since the Mushkin tech was very cool, I don't see a reason to dock an egg.

Other Thoughts: Cozily nestled in a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H next to an i7 3770K.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Choice

Pros: Heatsink super solid, great timings, run cool, worked xmp on both Z77 FTW Board and Gigabyte 990fxaud3 rev 3 board.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Ran them at 10-10-10-31 2188 @1.65v. My dominator platinum sticks wont run that. Mushkin is top notch as always

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Kit

Pros: Heatsink is very solid (rivals dominators)
Factory timings are really, really good
XMP plus this RAM makes for great performance, high speed, low latency, and enough RAM to run lots of VM's or easily any game in the foreseeable future.

Cons: Height of course. I can only fit one kit in my motherboard, but that's partially my Heatsinks fault, and also ASUS for not giving me more room.

Other Thoughts: I personally don't like to push RAM too much, because it's the hardest to get absolutely stable IMO. Spending a couple of extra dollars on a kit that has some very speedy factory settings makes for a great workstation that you can rely on, and also provides good gaming performance without having to push to 2800+ etc.
