OCZ knows enthusiasts and how to satisfy their performance cravings. The new OCZ PC-3200 Platinum Edition offers the best speeds, optimized with leading-edge Enhanced Latency and Bandwidth technology to deliver the highest overclocks and tightest timings to today’s hardcore tweakers. Clocked at a 400MHz stock rate, take the voltage up and the latencies down for your best speed results!
The higher the data transfer rate, the faster you get on the field! This 184-Pin DDR SDRAM system memory facilitates lightning-fast operations. This module utilizes the latest OCZ XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreader design to keep your system cool during the hottest action. This allows increased ventilation and heat dissipation due to an innovative honeycomb design more open to the actual memory ICs.
When you’re not duking it out somewhere in virtual reality, it is highly useful for other multimedia, graphics-intensive and other high-end applications. OCZ also offers the unique Extended Voltage Protection feature, which allows the memory modules to handle voltages up to 2.8V ±5%. This memory has been rigorously tested and comes with OCZ’s technical support for unparalleled peace of mind during intense fragging sessions. This is a perfect memory upgrade for your favorite box!

Tight Timings
- Pros: Timings worked without configuration, slick and sturdy heat spreaders, price. Excellent product support by OCZ, and overclocking support/warranty. Timings are superb for the 2GB capacity.
- Cons: The bulky heat spreaders might have little or no space between them if placed side by side on a mobo with really close DIMMs.
- Other Thoughts: As advertised timings (2-3-2-5-1T) worked without any configuration on my Asus A7N8X Deluxe. I was able to slightly overclock my FSB on my CPU from 333MHz to 400MHz with this RAM, which was previously unstable/non-booting with my old Geil 2x256MB set (which had good timings also).
To the other reviewers: if you're going to give an "average" rating, give it the average based on what other reviewers have rated (for this, 5 eggs). Also, if you picked up the SPD to be CAS 2.5, that is probably due to your motherboard. I have picked up CAS 2 as the default for this memory. If anything, it might say CAS 2.5 just for compatibility sake on low-end motherboards. Mine worked CAS 2.0 without any adjustments though.
"Wow!" memory
- Pros: I hesitated to buy, initially, because I'd heard there were compatibility issues, occasionally, with certain ASUS mobos I use. I've been using Cxxxair for a few years, quite successfully, and until I made this purchase I was running some Cxxxair Twin-X in my machine.
Well, I took a chance on this OCZ because of the price and because of other peeps' reviews here about the OCZ. So I plugged the stuff in, set my bios to CAS Latency of 2 and the rest to "Auto", and my machine just rocketed. I am totally sold. Totally. When I'm done puuting together my A8N32SLI system today (I'm typing this on my A8V Deluxe system right now) I'm going to overclock this stuff.
- Cons: None so far.
- Other Thoughts: The OCZ package says, "The best performing DDR Memory on the Market. Period." I'm not in a position to argue that. :)

New speed for finicky old system
- Pros: Pairs are well matched
Works great on old AMD Athlon 64 boards/CPUs that are very particular about matched memory Hit advertised timings without issues Pretty much the sole surviving retail "performance" DDR out there
- Cons: Bit pricey compared to DDR2, but way cheaper than 2gb would've cost back in the day
Bulky heat shield can cause fit issues
- Other Thoughts: My old Shuttle's got an nForce 3 150 mobo that wouldn't run at DDR 400 with a pair of Corsair sticks. Compared a lot of different kinds of RAM, finally went with these. Glad I did because I'm finally running at 400. If you're refusing to fall for the latest and greatest upgrade trap, these things will tide you over and then some
Beware if matching existing pair
- Pros: works independently just fine
- Cons: doesn't work with the existing pair of OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K
that i already had. (2 x 1GB).
- Other Thoughts: The packaging says that it's OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K
but my computer identifies it as something different (using System Information for Windows, for example). So i don't know if it's something somebody else returned to Newegg and they turned around and pawned it off on me or what, but with their no return policy i'm stuck having wasted 80 some bucks on memory i can't use. I have a DFI LN4 Lanparty UT motherboard and apparently they need to be exact matches, which these aren't despite being labeled as exactly the same. Buying from Newegg is no better than buying from some stranger online these days it seems.

Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are not sure what info you are seeing, but this memory should be as marked. When running 4 sticks, be sure to turn CPC OFF in your BIOS. This may solve your problem. Having owned your motherboard, I can say that sometimes you must have exactly the same memory, right down to the chip revision level, or it may not run all sticks together. Over time chips can change, in part due to availability. If you are still having problems (after turning CPC OFF in BIOS), please visit the link below and create a support ticket. Mention your issue, and let them know that you were sent by the OCZ rep at Newegg for help with getting a matching set of four sticks. Thank you

Really Quick
- Pros: Took out the stock memory and put this memory in and what a difference it made in performance. I ended up buying more so that I had 4 gigs and this stuff really sped up my system. No need to go purchase another one anymore.
- Cons: None.
