Alright
- Pros: I have them running at 1600 but i had to set them myself after talking to support. OCZ tech helped me set correct timings also but referred me to AM3 platform type of memory so going to be switching soon.
- Cons: Not sure if its ram but keep getting corrupted window files. The tech next store thinks its from memory or hard drive velico-raptor 150g had a few errors when checked it so going to rma both back and see what happens.
work fine
- Pros: Price is better than some comparable sticks.
- Cons: NOT a con, but make sure you Motherboard supports the full speed, or your wasting your money. (unless your like me and like the added stability of underclocking your RAM a little from its max settings).
- Other Thoughts: Running 4 GB at 1600 with 1:4 ratio to AMD 955 BE @ 3.2 Ghz on MSI 790FX-GD70 (can't go higher w/o overclocking cpu a little). 9-9-9-30 @ 1.9 volts. Everest benchmarks it at 11,901 MB/s read, 4,201 MB/s write, with a latency of 17.1 ns. I could get better timings, but I like mega stability, and it is plently fast as I have it set up.
AMD Dragon Platform Rocks!
- Pros: i hope this review helps anyone that owns this or thinking about purchasing this. i have been building computers since the mid 90's. I have
overclocked and gamed (is that a word) on this computer for over a month now with total stability.
SPECS: MSI 790FX-GD70 BIOS 1.3 / FSB 250 / North Bridge 2500Mhz (250*10) @ 1.275v / CPU 3.75Ghz (250 x 15) @ 1.4875 volts / HT 2000Mhz @8 Multiplier
AMD X3 720 Black Edition overclocked from 2.8Ghz to 3.75Ghz with the AMD oem heatsink/fan (250FSB * 15 multiplier with 1.4875 volts)! When my room
gets hot i bump the multiplier down to 14 (3.5Ghz). Yes, you read that correctly! The stock heatsink/fan never gets over 45*C
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 2000 Model OCZ3P20004GK / running at 1666Mhz (250 front side bus) 1:4 ratio @ 1.93 volts. Timings verified with
CPU-Z: (CL) 6 / tRCD 6 / tRP 6 / tRAS16 / tRC 27. This motherboard will not post beyond 1666Mhz memory (at least with this memory). i sometimes clock
down to 1333 with C
- Cons: the AMD AM3 platform doesn't gain much performance from increased memory clocks like Big Blue's i7 chipset. But, i purchased this mobo AND the cpu
for the same price as one of Big Blue's i7 cpu's! Plus, i don't have to buy pricey triple channel memory. My gaming frames per second are equal to
the i7 920 in everything but Farcry 2. Read the Anandtech X3 720 review.
- Other Thoughts: SPECS CONTINUED:
two (crossfire) PowerColor 4890's overclocked to 1Ghz GPU / 1.2Ghz memory = pwnsauce :-) i'm going to buy a third card.
one Western Digital VelociRaptor for my C drive. i dont need raid because im not video editing on this computer.
LG Blu-ray/HD DVD-ROM Model GGC-H20L OEM for watching Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Dazed and Confused on HD-DVD.
Antec 900 with three COOLER MASTER R4-L2R-20CR-GP Red LED Case Fans (replaced the stock blue fans) in the front (all 3 hard drive bays) and one on
the side and back. i got the 3rd hard drive cage from my other Antec 900 so this computer has three fans in the front. the case looks red beast
this way! i'm running the LG DVD drive externally (e-sata).
ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ1300 1300W power supply. i'm going to replace the blue LED's in it with red LED's. So my AMD Dragon Platform is totally red!
i turned the blue LED's on the motherboard off with the BIOS option.
