5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Still works, got a great price and I am ALWAYS happy with OCZ ram.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: For those complaining about it not showing up as 1066... contact your MOBO manufacture, they made the board which is reading the memory not the other way around so if the board assigns a voltage of 1.7volts instead of 2.1volts is it really OCZ's fault? I didnt think so.. This is the 5th set of OCZ ram I have purchased for different builds, all are still working great.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: It is very nice looking. shinny. fast, 1066mgz!!! it's just awesome. i would recommend this to anyone who wants to upgrade their ram.

Cons: When i got the ram and installed, i thought it'll automatically be running at 1066mhz, but it didn't. It was running on 600 something mhz. I have to manually change it my self on bios.

Other Thoughts: It was because of my motherboard won't support 1066mgz of ram.
I think that the company should make it automatically run at 800mgz at least...

4 out of 5 eggsNeeds some tweaking to work

Pros: Fast DDR2. Works with Biostar TA790GX 128M, AFTER some tweaking (see cons).

Versus 800mHz, I was able to boost my FSB clock. Added a full 1/2 point to the memory benchmark on the Win Experience benchmark over 800mHz to 7.5 (versus 7.0) after boosting FSB speed.

Cons: Minus 1 Egg, for having to manually alter BIOS settings for speed(timings), as well as voltage. Had to manually overclock the memory as it defaults to 800 speed. Once speed was manually set, timings were grabbed automatically. My Biostar mainboard auto sets this memory to 5-7-7-20. Haven't tried tightening the timings to listed spec-as reseting the CMOS jumper is a PITA on my mainboard.

Other Thoughts: 1066 DDR2 might be common now, but it might not autodetect even if your board states it is fine with 1066 memory as my Biostar claims. Ergo, buyer beware it may take tweaking and CMOS resetting to get to work at advertised speeds.

1 out of 5 eggsOCZ PC2 8500

Pros: Price

Cons: When ram is sold as PC2 8500 it should run at rated speed without having to extremly alter the bios settings.
This ram will only run stable as PC2 6400 on Asus M4A78 Plus and many other motherboards.

Other Thoughts: This is not right.
Buy a different brand of ram!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you are having problems. We will be happy to assist you with settings to get you running properly on our support forums. Please visit us and post in the memory section.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsUsual Review

Pros: They are shiny, and looks cool when you have all of your slots filled with them.

Cons: Really can't enjoy the shinyness when you're looking at the top of them. Unless you have a bench case, that would be cool.

Other Thoughts: Was able to get my to run at 1066 on a Asus M3A78 PRO, which is actually only rated for 800 but does list the capability to overclock to 1066. I only mention this because I know some people are having a hard time getting these to run at there rated speeds. Like most, all I had to do was change the voltage and manual set the clock speeds and they were good to go.

3 out of 5 eggsLeaning towards good deal... BUT...

Pros: - Looks cool
- Runs great at 1066MHz after increasing the voltage to 2.14v as the packaging suggests.
- 4GB for $48 seven months ago... Fantastic deal!

Cons: - One of the sticks failed after seven months. Luckily I had two sticks. This accounts for the removal of an egg.

Other Thoughts: - This will be my first experience with OCZ in the RMA process (NewEgg policy was 30 days, OCZ has a lifetime limited warranty on RAM). Hopefully they will let me ship only the faulty stick back instead of the pair, which would leave me without a computer!
- Seems like all the RAM manufacturers are having quality issues with faulty sticks lately. What gives?

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry for the problem. Memory must be replaced as complete kit to insure full compatibility between sticks. Please inform our customer service staff about your situation.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGood RAM for good price

Pros: |

Cons: |

Other Thoughts: It works flawlessly at the speeds given. Remember though, it runs @ 1066mhz with ONLY 2 Sticks of RAM up to a maximum of 4GB. This means that you can have either 2 sticks of DDR2 1066 RAM of 1gb a piece or 2gb a piece. Meaning in other words, you can have 4gb of 1066 with 2gb sticks but not four 1gb sticks, it'll only operate at 800mhz.

Also, most motherboards run RAM at 1.8 volts, make sure you research before you buy. Some boards allow you to tweak your voltages in the BIOS and if that's the case, you can just bump up your ram to 2.1v and it should automatically run at the original set speed.

3 out of 5 eggsCan't recommend

Pros: value, price.

Cons: The first 2 sticks (4Gb) of this RAM work perfectly as rated in my system. OCZ memory will not run 4 sticks of 1066 memory in a Phenom II system. Do not buy this RAM if you are wanting to go from 4GB to 8GB. It will not work as rated.

Other Thoughts: If you are building a Phenom II system from scratch, you can purchase this RAM and it will work solidly, however, you will have no upgrade path. For this reason, I cannot recommend this as a viable purchase.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you have had difficulties upgrading to 8gb of memory. All kits are tested and speed rated as sold. In other words this kit was tested as a 4gb kit. Your memory controller sees a much heavier load with 8gb, and this is what is causing your issues. Some systems may need to have the speed lowered to 800mhz to run properly, and you may need to make additional voltage and timing changes to achieve full stability. Please visit our support forums at the link below and post in the memory section for assistance with settings. We are always happy to help.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value for the money!

Pros: Excellent memory for the money and runs very stable as long as your motherboard can handle it! It's currently running at 1100 5-5-5-15.

Cons: If your motherboard does not support the frequency, you'll need to run it below 1066. I have another machine with ASUS P5QL/EPU and could not get it stable at 1066. The best I could do was 1026 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1v.

Other Thoughts: Running it at 1100 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1v stable with Prime95 running overnight.
Motherboard is ASUS PQ5 Pro Turbo
Q6600 OC'd to 3.2 GHz

5 out of 5 eggsReal Ram that works Real Hard! Real Fast!

Pros: like the name suggest, overclocker's ram! or if you want real ram that is stable, compatible, durable, can take a beating by your wife (and the elements), and if you still have a DDR 2 setup and is relunctant to upgrade to DDR 3 setup, get this NOW! I originally purchased this for a customer build, but was suprised when I tested that this pair actually works in perfect harmony with the older OCZ Platinum edition 2x1GB kit that I had for over a year now, (yes these are 2x2GB kits) I ended up keeping the ram and now have 6GB of ram (more ram than I know what to do with, I'm a retired gamer mind you), lags, freezes or lockups are a thing of the past, 64 bit apps and everything else runs and works the way it should. the only alt+ i'll be using now is alt+tab instead of alt+ctrl+delete. :)

Cons: not a con, but windows 7 experience rating for memory jumped from 6.5 to 7.0. half a point increase that translates better in real world apps. windows booting up and login is significantly faster.

Other Thoughts: If you can't get this to work at it's specified speed, or it won't boot. Don't get mad thinking you bought PC 6400 ram for the price of PC 8500. Try disabling C1E Enhanced Halt State and C2E in bios. I have an Intel Chipset Gigabyte board, and had to do this (besides setting the timings manually myself) to get my E8400 Wolfdale rig to boot at 3.6ghz, 1600mhz FSB, and 1066 mhz DDR2. ram could probably hit 1200 with further OC, but haven't tried yet. remember to set the memory voltage to 2.1!!!!!!!!
