2 out of 5 eggsWarranty not correct?

Pros: Good price at the time

Cons: Both drives are problematic now. The newegg site lists 3 years warranty but OCZ is now saying only 2 years.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for the problem and the warranty information issue. This product officially has a 2 year warranty, and we will notify our staff of the incorrect info on the Newegg product page. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to discuss this with our support staff. Thank you

3 out of 5 eggsfalse advertising

Pros: cheap, fast for most tasks

Cons: I own this driver over 6 month and tried on 2 laptops, desktop and my server (withraid cards), all running on AHCI mode, non of them show NCQ enabled, this is not a SATA II interface HDD.

Other Thoughts: unless heavy IO during multi-tasking, most parts are fine.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, these drives are indeed SATA II compliant. Please visit our support forums at the link below for more information, and for suggested settings. We do not recommend running in ACHI mode with these drives.
Thank you

3 out of 5 eggsFailed *RMA Experience*

Pros: The RMA drive shipped was new and not a refurb, props to OCZ for that.. after 6 months most drive failures get RMA'd with a refurb with other brands.. Also shiped replacement w/2nd day Air. Whole RMA process took about 2 weeks. Going to give them an extra star for this.

Cons: Still failed after 6 months, had to pay to ship it to them.

Other Thoughts: As long as this new one lasts several years I will be extremely happy with this drive, despite its small capacity.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry for the problem, and happy that our RMA service took care of your needs. Drive failures are uncommon. Your replacement drive should give you reliable service well into the future.
Thank you

2 out of 5 eggsFailed

Pros: Quick drive, low cost SSD, USB port has been handy, no problems getting a RMA from OCZ

Cons: Failed after 6 months of Desktop/Wokstation use, IO errors over SATA and drive would fail to register over USB. if it did register it would error on any attempt to access. Was my boot & apps drive, failure had extremely poor timing and the downtime likely cost more than the drive its self. Luckily backup's were available and working fine.

Other Thoughts: I am not the only one who has reported this problem, I have a Mtron SSD running in a production server that see's alot more use... its been running for almost 2 years w/no problems and it is just as fast. However I paid alot more for it so go figure.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry for the problem. We have a good reliability rate overall with this product, and your replacement should give you reliable service into the future.
Thank you

2 out of 5 eggsGood While it Lasted

Pros: A Computer is only as fast as its slowest component. This SSD drive offers you Fast Shut down.. Good start up time. Lightning quick to start programs after the necessary adjustments the mfg recommended. I bought it for my (Compaq V3000 w/ 1.6Ghz Turion64 X2. 2Gigs RAM) laptop to remove the very obvious bottleneck OEM Hard Disk and to help bring it up to date for my needs. It made a noticeable difference.

Cons: About 6 months of ownership and 3 months of daily use, It Died.
After removing it from my laptop and let it cool down, I tried to retrieve some of my data from it through its USB connection. but the drive would go in and out of accessibility.
Luckily I am a back up freak and only lost a few emails and photos.

Other Thoughts: If you have the money, SSD are the future drives so have fun with the costly prototypes. I am going to wait a year or two before I get another one. Too much money to keep throwing away for a few months of actual use.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry for the problem and the inconvenience. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to start the RMA process for a replacement drive.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Raid 0

Pros: The big advantage of these 30 GB SSDs is Raid 0. Typically, whith HDDs the more you configure in your Raid the higher the access time gets. With these, there is no appreciable increase in access time - just too cool! Additionally, there is little problem with decreasing probability of failure, given the long MTBF for these drives. Of course there is a huge gain in read times, as you add more drives to your raid.

I recommend buying two of these to start your Raid 0, rather than the one 60 GB drive recommended by the tech rep. Then you can add more drives as money as the economy gets better and funds become available (you will need a copy of Acronis migrate easy).

Cons: Some tweaking may be necessary in XP and Vista, but Windows 7 is optimized to take advantage of these drives.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best! After dealing with them for a while, all you have to do is dream about some computer equipment and it shows up on your doorstep in short order (I have five of these drives already). I have tried to explain to my wife that I cannot control the content of my dreams, all to no avail. What's up with that?

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible!!!!

Pros: This thing takes a licking & won't stop ticking! The 1500 G-force protection is NOT a joke...I've tested it. We went through 3 hard drives in 4 months due to using the computer to vent our frustration. Had this thing for 5 months same behavior and still good. Windows seems to start up a few seconds faster, not much difference since the main use is internet surfing and some home office work.

Cons: The one slight hitch was installing it. The hard drive is in a slim line desktop, so it was too small to stay in the slot. No adapter comes in the box, so you might want to look for that when buying this. Luckily, we had an unused 2.5" hard drive external case to stick it in and jerry-rig it in there.

Other Thoughts: This thing is small, light-weight, and has no moving parts. Now the storage isn't much, but it's perfect if you just use it to install your operating system on it and put your media on an extra separate hard drive (external or internal).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Relatively inexpensive and fast. USB is handy for aligning and formatting drive.

Cons: I agree with some others that the drive could come pre-aligned, but really that only takes a few moments.

Other Thoughts: Currently SSD drives are a bit of a pain. Lots of little tweaks necessary to make everything get along, but I've enjoyed making my music server snap and consider it a worthwhile upgrade. May consider putting one in my Photoshop machine. I'm betting it would work wonders there.

4 out of 5 eggsNot big enough for Windows Vista

Pros: The drive worked right out of the box. It works in raid, (flawlessly?), with standard 7200 RPM SATA drives, and only a few BASIC settings really need to be changed.

When I set this up by itself as a boot drive, it booted Windows Vista 64 in about 20-30 seconds from power off on a fully loaded machine. That is FAST....

Cons: It is not big enough to install Windows Vista on this drive. Granted, the initial OS install is less than 20Gb's on Vista 64, but once you install the drivers and service packs and needed updates (all of which must be on the boot drive with the OS), there isn't enough room for even the updates, much less any other program files.

Also, I've noticed (some) stutters and one freeze. (However, I am not sure if it is the drive, a not 100% stable overclock, or games being run on such high settings).

Other Thoughts: This drive is silent, uses less power, and booted windows at least 3X faster than a conventional 7200RPM drive.

My only advice is this:
Get the 60 GB drive in the OCZ (Vertex?) Series. I don't have it, but from what I've read, they're a bit better all around, and one 60 GB in the vertex series will be more reliable and cheaper than trying to run two of these in RAID0. (Then you will need to get a cheap 7200 RPM drive formatted as a new partition for your program files/ itunes library/ family pictures, etc...)

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we suggest that Vista users purchase the 60gb and larger drives due to the size of Vista including updates.
Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsa bit small

Pros: this drive is amazing! the only thing that can even come close is the VelociRaptor from Western Digital and it only inproves on this drive in one part. it's noiseless, it's fast, and by far one of the best ideas for loading on the operating system for a clean and fast OS.

Cons: 30 gigs is a bit small. after you update at least vista and load on the few necessary programs that are pretty much vital to surfing the internet your left with a little more then 7 gigs to play with. considering things such as Steam don't run on portable harddrives and games take up a minimum of a gig each. i'd take into consideration getting a secondary internal drive or an E-Sata drive that are apparently thought up as an internal for people who like to have all their games accessable to them at any given time.

Other Thoughts: **IN SHORT**
-Good as a OS drive
-Suggest getting a secondary smaller drive as storage for games, music, movies, and files
