Watercooled OCZ Platinum CL7
- Pros: Great price for CL7 memory if you can overlook the heatsink. I'm not using these watercooled yet but the giant heatsink design allows the memory to dissapate heat very well with just air. Also there are no issues with these heatspreaders being use on adjacent slots... that was an issue with an older design heatsink. Also @ 1600mhz this memory is defaulting to 7-7-7-16 timings on my DX58SO motherboard. This is like OCZ Platinum CL7 with a much better heatspreader.
- Cons: Very tall. Might not fit under some CPU heatsinks. Not an issue if you're watercooled.
- Other Thoughts: Antec Ninehundred
Intel i7 920 D0 2.66@ 4GHz Cogage True Spirit w/ AC PWM push/pull Intel DX58SO "smackover" 6GB OCZ Flex Ex DDR3 1600 7-7-7-16 XFX 9800GTX+ OC
Great Deal
- Pros: Memory is great oc'er, and runs great at default timings and speed. As far as the water coolling blocks, all one has to do in order to make sure that they work properly is remove side panels and seal with silicone gasket material. This water cooling 101, and it does not void the warranty from what I have read, and for 116 bucks who cares. Never had memory go wrong that I did not short by OVing, and the warranty covers up to and including use of 1.95, which is more than you will ever need.
- Cons: Not really a criticism directed towards the memory, just the documentation. I had no problem installing these sticks in adjacent slots, and the documentation states that due to thickness, this is not possible. When I purchased, gave me some concern, and if I had read that blurb on OCZ's web site, I would not have purchased.
- Other Thoughts: Would be nice if manufacturers of components did more R&D on height and spacing. Even if one goes by measurements, it is a gamble as to placement and config of other cooling components. If you produce a water block equipped memory set, why not supply the splitter necessary to allow connection to chain.
So far so good
- Pros: Booted first shot on p6t mb. Ran memtest for 7hrs/ prime95 1hr without any errors. I also put 2 sticks in adj. dimm slots and it fit tight but just fine, so ya you can run 6 of these. Have not overclocked yet just whatever timings my mobo sets by default.
- Cons: Don't see any so far.
- Other Thoughts: Just running air cooled, no comments on water cooling. You can populate all 6 dimm slots with this ram, it will fit.
