OCZ Vertex Turbo Series provides a cutting-edge design for enthusiasts looking to transform their desktops or laptops. Enabled by proprietary firmware and 64MB of 180MHz DRAM cache, the Vertex Turbo Edition ramps up performance levels to new heights, while providing the snappier computing, longer battery life, and shorter boot-ups users have enjoyed from the original. The Vertex Turbo delivers best-in-class read and write speeds clocking in at up to 270MB/s read and 210MB/s write along with the lower power consumption and superior durability compared to conventional hard drives.

Perfect for notebooks and desktops alike, the Vertex Turbo Series is ideal for energy-efficient mobile computing to extend battery life, increase the speed of access time, and provide a durable alternative to conventional hard disc drives with superior shock resistance. High capacities and low power consuming NAND flash technology provide the necessary performance and battery life boosts generated by the proliferation of mobile gaming and new ultra-thin laptops.

The OCZ Vertex Turbo drives feature a durable yet lightweight alloy housing, and because OCZ SSDs have no moving parts, the drives are more rugged than traditional hard drives. Designed for ultimate reliability, Vertex Turbo Series SSDs have an excellent 1.5 million hour mean time before failure (MTBF) ensuring reliability over the long term.

  • newegg Optimal performance The tried-and-true architecture and performance of the original Vertex has been upgraded to meet the demands of enthusiasts and other performance-seeking users who benefit from SSD technology. The Vertex Turbo Series maximizes the potential for ultimate productivity and state-of-the-art computing experience, by increasing both the host clock-speed and the SDR DRAM Cache to 180MHz versus 166MHz on the original series.
  • newegg Cool, quiet and durable operation Because OCZ SSDs have no moving parts, they run faster, cooler and quieter than traditional hard drives. Available in capacities of 30GB (32), 60GB (64), and 120GB (128), Vertex Turbo SSDs meets the needs of users looking for a quality boot drive replacement.
  • newegg Ultimate reliability Designed for ultimate reliability, Vertex Turbo SSDs have an excellent 1.5 million hour mean time between failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. Vertex Turbo SSDs come backed by a 3-year warranty and OCZ’s exemplary service and support.

1 out of 5 eggsdidn't last long

Pros: fast, cool

Cons: After spending a day loading windows 7 and many applications, I let it burn in for 3 days. When I started to use it, the system locked up and I got the BSD. Then, it could not bee seen by any machine I attached it to.

Other Thoughts: Love SSD's. Don't buy OCZ

Pros: TRIM, Hardware Garbage Collection. No need to run GC software at regular intervals. This drive won't slow down on you over time like cheaper SSD's. The OCZ site mentions idling the PC for a few hours every few weeks as that is when the hardware GC runs. If you run Win7, your recycle bin empties do the same thing however.

Cons: None, worth every penney it cost.

Pros: Performance is good, but not great. I get in Windows 7 faster and can use it instead of waiting 5 mins for it to dink around with it's startup. If the below con of it taking forever to delete a file doesn't clear up, I foresee sending it back.

Cons: I don't think it's worth an upgrade for the price. When I delete files it takes forever, but that can be something I could be missing since I haven't used it a whole lot since I got it.

Other Thoughts: Irritated that I waited for some better deals before I bought this drive just for the OCZ Agility to go on sale for $239 four days after I got mine in the mail.

Shipping. I paid for shipping and it takes NewEgg 5 days to get it to me because they needed to verify my information. They verified my information three days after I placed the order. Their reasoning was that I changed my shipping address, but they didn't bother calling the day after I placed the order, they waited for that day to pass and the weekend to go by and called me on Monday. Needless to say I was going on vacation the end of that week and barely got the drive before I left. If I would have known they were going to drag <a word I can't say> I would have paid for faster shipping. Never had this problem when I got free shipping oddly enough .....

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent drive

Pros: this is an excellent drive. ran a few benchmarks, didnt get quite the advertised speed, but i did not update the firmware, and i am not really sure which one it is at... cause i am lazy... but any ways, wish i had a picture at time of posting.

but my average was read of about 250 mb/s and write of 200mb/s

windows boots fast. i can log in and be ready to go in about 20 seconds. (my board has a long post time for some reason... need to flash the bios on that too...) apps are fast and games are just as fast. games like dragon age origins, empire total war, age of empires. all these games load very fast.

Cons: when i first got my drive, lasted about 20 minutes, rma'ed no problem... not really interested in messing with the firmware out of sheer laziness... my speeds are soo much faster already doesn't matter...

i should probably take off an egg for the defective drive and firmware updates that are necessary to keep your drive at the bleeding edge of speed. that bit comes to laziness again...

Other Thoughts: W3520 Xeon overclocked @ 4.2 GHZ
EVGA X58 mobo
6 gigs patriot 1066
GTX 280

its a great little drive.

3 out of 5 eggsSpecifications list lifetime warranty, not so?

Pros: Fast, low energy

Cons: Warranty listed as being lifetime limited. Hopefully by the time you read this it'll be fixed. I bought it in part because of this warranty (not unlike warranty on RAM, the other solid state memory white meat).

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are sorry that you are having problems. The warranty on this drive has always been 3 years. We do not have any SSD drives that come with a lifetime warranty. You should still be fully covered, so we can arrange for a replacement. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to start the process.
Thank you

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive - terrible rebates!

Pros: I have 2 - OCZ Vertex Turbo's, running in RAID 0. Great performance!

Cons: Rebate model is the worst!

OCZ uses a 3rd Party Vendor to handle their rebates.

Literally takes 4 months to get your rebate, then you will find out, it is not a check, but a Visa Gift Card.

This whole rebate idea to trick consumers into thinking their saving money is a terrible way to market products.

I don't understand why they don't just discount the product to star with and finally get rid of this deceitful way of doing business!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are happy that you a pleased with your purchase. We offer rebates as an opportunity for our customers to save money if they desire to follow the instructions and file. Our direct competitors also use 3rd party rebate houses, and offer similar rebates.
Thank you

2 out of 5 eggsNot has happy as I would have liked.

Pros: Easy to install, takes care of itself. No hassles no fuss.
A nice drive.

Cons: Not as noticable as I was expecting, especially for the money. If I would have known it to be like this I never would have purchased it.

Other Thoughts: I use to run 2 raptor drives in raid 0 so this might be why it is not what I expected. I should have bought 2 more raptors and ran 4 in raid 0, would have had a ton more space and a lot less cost. Though I bet it is wonderful in a laptop PC.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, in a single drive configuration SSD drives are quite fast, and in a situation where you are comparing a single SSD to a single standard drive it's a fair fight that the SSD will win hands down. Now, if you run 2 of these drives in RAID 0, and compare that to your 2 standard drives, we think you will be amazed.
Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsSSD is worth the money

Pros: Unbelievable fast and thanks to no moving parts completely silent. Liked this one so much I ordered the 80 gig version for another laptop.

Cons: A little high on the price but well worth the investment.

4 out of 5 eggsFAST

Pros: It is very fast. Easy installation and great support. Big enough for most users. A great upgrade. Windows 7 loads in under 40 seconds.

Cons: Bracket not included. They are expensive.

Other Thoughts: I am not seeing the speeds others are getting. I have only been able to get 170 m/s out of it so far. It gave me a 7.1 in the windows performance rating.
