5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This drive is fast!! This is the best upgrade for a PC in a long time. 480 Mbytes/sec transfer rate is fast.
Black Saturday Newegg special 300.00.

Cons: Newegg didn't buy enough of them and they are out of stock.

Other Thoughts: If you want to see an appreciable difference when you update your PC, then this is it. Buy a good SSD

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible SSD

Pros: Was very fast compared to standard hard drive.

Cons: Worked great till I had to reformat. Used OCZ's tool to do so and it ended up crippling the drive, start ups took well over a minute if ever. OCZ was absolutely no help, basically kept telling the SSD was fine and could do nothing. I then tested the machine with two other SSD's and everything worked fine. I then bought a Samsung 840 pro and now im back to blazing speeds. OCZ should take better care of customers, very disappointed.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your time with this drive, get the 840pro its cheaper and faster.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anonymous Consumer,

We are very sorry to read about your experience with the Vertex 4. A simple Secure Erase with the Bootable Toolbox will return the drive to a like-new state and should not slow the drive. The drive should only slow under very rare circumstances (full format, etc). We are happy to investigate and resolve this however possible. Please visit our Support Forum where we can examine screenshots and send you the approriate files to resolve this.

Kind Regards,
OCZ Support

5 out of 5 eggsWicked Fast

Pros: - A speed daemon
- Good to see OCZ make use of their acquired controller
- Plenty of space for an SSD

Cons: SSD's have no warning signs of impending failure, otherwise none.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this SSD to run all my steam games. No complaints, levels load very fast. Your time is unreplaceable so an SSD should be a must if you can swallow the price.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does what it's supposed to.
Fast.

Cons: A better capacity/cost ratio would be nice, I suppose.

Other Thoughts: Nothing much to say about this.

It has a power connector, and a data connector. You connect them, and it performs. Unspectacular, but that's what you want in data storage. Solid, boring reliability.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Drive

Pros: Very Fast. 5yr warranty. Huge storage for an SSD. Great price at 299 Pre-Black Friday sale.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from Corsair 3 240GB SSD. This larger drives performs as well and a little better on the Read speed. Avg 360MB/s Read and 250MB/s Write using HD Tune Pro on a i7-930 on an ASUS P6X58D mainboard. Tom's hardware has Vertex4 scored at 1088 - Top 5 SSD, just under the Samsung 840 Pro and the Plextor M5 Pro. At the 299 price was much cheaper than running RAID0 on 2x256GB drives.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST

Pros: -Fast Fast Fast
-Price
-Size
You really cant go wrong with this drive. Just buy it. Buy it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Its fast. There i said it again.

I got this drive for $300 on a black Friday deal. The best deal i have ever gotten from newegg. That is close to 55 cents a gig for this model at this price. Im not sure i would of sprung for such a large SSD if it were not on such a great deal. If you can afford it pull the trigger on this one.

I run an older i7 930 on a X58. I tested it on the on board sata 2 controller and was getting around 250 mbs per sec with it. I got a cheap pci e 4x sata 3 controller card for my board and it runs around 450 mbs per sec with that. I am very happy with it. I expect it to go even faster when i upgrade my system to a sandy-e or a haswell in the future.

This was my first time using a SSD and i couldnt be happier with it. I had a 2 samsung 7200 rpm raid 0 HDD drive before as my main boot drive and this thing blows it our of the water. It was the single biggest upgrade i have ever felt when upgrading a computer. I still use my raid 0 and a second storage drive and it was nice to have all my old files when i upgraded to this thing.

The only thing i could say that was bad about this thing is the price it is now. Like i said i got this on sale for $300 but now it is some where around $500. I would of skipped this at that 500 mark but if you can spring for it do it. You will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: This drive does what it describes: it's fast, stores a great amount of data, and doesn't blow up the noise levels in your case.

Cons: Expensive, but, you get what you pay for in the end.

5 out of 5 eggsFast SSD ! !

Pros: Computer saw drive right away. Installation of programs went a lot quicker. Boot time dropped considerably and programs launch much quicker too. Raised my Windows 7 Experience index from 5.9 to 7.9!! Came with the latest firmware installed.

Cons: I was a little upset when the price of this drive went up considerably out of no where. I was happy that I got it for a GREAT price on a Black Friday Special. After installing Windows 7 and all my programs, I discovered that this drive came with 1 bad sector/block. OCZ techs had me run a few test, then told me that all SSD come with bad blocks, that's why they manufacture the SSD with more blocks than actually needed and that my drive was working as a new SSD should. Guess I’ll keep an eye on it and if it worsens, I’ll RMA it.

Other Thoughts: This is my first experience with an SSD... so I wasn’t aware that I had to install specific motherboard drivers for this drive to operate properly because it kept freezing up. After installing the drivers, it now works like a champ!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: Speed, price, size. I had seen some bad reviews about OCZ products in the past but when this was on sale here I jumped, and I'm really glad that I did. The drive is noticeably faster than my older SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25. Windows Experience Index gives it a top score of 7.9.

Cons: Honestly can't think of one.

Other Thoughts: I haven't run any additional benchmarks on it yet because it is faster than anything I need it for at this point.
