Integrated Dataplex Caching Software The Integrated Dataplex Caching Software Intelligently manages HDD and SSD simultaneously. “Hot” data is transferred to Synapse SSD for highest performance, access, and bandwidth and “Cold” data is routed to HDD for highest capacity usage. No data migration or OS installation required.
TRIM Support The OCZ Synapse Series offers native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.

Cons: Not officially supported for Windows 8 yet, does not support .gpt partitions, and it scored LOWER than my HDD for write speeds (79 MB/s SSD vs. 89 MB/s HDD) Other Thoughts: I do not regret purchasing this drive, although to use the included Dataplex software I would have to reformat my OS drive from .gpt to .mbr (which includes wiping all the data and reinstalling OS). Luckily, I was able to find a similar software that works great with this drive. eBoostr allowed me to use this drive to help speed up my boot times and application launches, plus it has an impressive full-featured demo available. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Customer support is A+ Cons: This is a 64gb ssd & 32gb is set aside for cache i understood that in the description. When you use this as cache the rest of the 32gb gets disabled for over-provisioning. I'm reading the description now no where is that listed its crucial. The Synapse cache drives do make use of 50% NAND flash overprovisiong to accommodate performance and software features. This is noted in the Newegg details and the OCZ Product Brief. Cons: NOT and I REPEAT NOT 64GB Other Thoughts: I ordered this refurbished and having had some issues with refurbs was a little apprehensive but i figured hey i could always rma if there was a prob right??? Wrong. The problem was i did not research the product enough until after the problem i have.
