Every computer needs more memory, even if you think you have enough. (Well, okay, if you've filled all your slots . . . ). No matter what computer you have or if you're building a new system, memory is vital. The more you have, the better everything runs -- trust us on this one. Just make sure which specific type of memory your system requires.
Keeping that in mind G.Skill's 2GB (2 x 1GB) dual channel kit is perfect for adding to your computer's performance. Designed for high performance systems, the distinctive read heat-spreader helps cool the memory because higher timings and overclocking create more heat.
This module is classified DDR2 533(PC2 4200), running at 533MHz, and will run on any properly equipped motherboard. For a simple and inexpensive way to increase performance of your system pickup some DDR2, and you will see a vast increase in performance.
Pros: Upgraded from 1 GB to 2 GB. Considerably faster processing, my machine no longer lags. Before I would exit out of BF2 and it would take a couple minutes for the music to stop playing because the computer was still compiling. Same with starting a game, but now no hesitation. No lags at any time. Installed very easy, XP and BIOS identified the new memory right away! What a difference.
Cons: I wish I would've bought this before my graphics card, but now I am seeing the effect on the GPU as well.
Other Thoughts: If graphics in games like BF2 are lagging at points and not continuously choppy. I would suggest upgrading your memory before the GPU.

Pros: Easy, Easy, Easy installation. 2 GB for less than two hundred - what's not to love about that?
Cons: None - yet.
Other Thoughts: I cetainly don't have the experience as many others have working on their systems. So ease of installation was essential.
My system is a Dell Dimension 5100, 6 months old - (yeah I know, however couldn't beat the price, which oh by the way was zero, through my company.) I had 1 GB (4x 256) sticks. I needed a little more oomph for Battlefield 2, so I went for these, mainly because of previous Dell reviews. I am a novice when it comes to working on my computer, but I gave it a shot. It actually took longer to disconnect all the cables and open the case than it did to unclip two sticks and install these. Reconnected all cables and fired it up. My system recognized the upgrade - I had to do nothing else!! I've been running for a week now with no errors or wacky things happening.
Next up is a new power supply once I'm sure Dell is not continuing the crazy little proprietary modifications they used to make so you couldn't upgrade your system.

Pros: Works like memory is supposed to, and looks good while doing it.
Decent price for modules of this size plus the heatsinks are an added perk for this price point.
Took one of my aging systems and maxed out it's RAM capacity with 4 gigs of this, popped in HIS Radeon HD4670 video card w/HDMI output and installed Windows 7. The system now has a new lease on life as nice HTPC with decent gaming capacity.
Cons: None

Excellant
Reviewed By: Frank236 on 1/27/2010
Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: 3 possible timings, Plug and play, Rated and runs as stated, greatest packaging I've ever seen. (not the same as shown)
Cons: price, leave off heat sinks and charge $5 less
Other Thoughts: Unlikely heat sinks do anything on a non-overclocked 800Mhz (rated) FSB but orangeish color sure is "purdy". Upgraded a "E" machine from 1GB to it's max of 2GB. Snappier and no longer lags or locks up on ram intensive Facebook apps. Appears 2GB is sweet spot for 32bit vista.
