Every computer needs more memory, even if you think you have enough. No matter what computer you have, or if you're building a new system, memory is vital to a computer. Generally speaking the more you have the better the computer will perform. Just make sure which specific type of memory your system requires.

Keeping that in mind G.Skill's 2GB (2 x 1GB) dual channel kit is perfect for adding to the performance of your computer. Designed for high performance systems, the distinctive blue heat-spreader helps cool the memory because higher timings and overclocking create more heat. This set is DDR 400(PC 3200), running at 400MHz; with 2 x 1GB modules you will add a total of 2GB's of memory. Pick yourself up some of G.Skill's DDR 400 memory and you will see your system explode with performance!

  • newegg G.SKILL DDR SDRAM G.SKILL system memory provides unbelievable performance and broad compatibility for PC enthusiasts. G.SKILL system memory is 100% manually tested twice to ensure top-level product yield and quality.
  • newegg DDR 400 DDR 400 delivers incredible performance and platform compatibility with up to 3.2GB/s memory bandwidth per channel for the ultimate work and gaming power!

4 out of 5 eggshappy camper

Pros: easy install decant speed in cress. good for giving a older system extra life. love the stepping on these guys (if you are trying to up the power on a older motherboard defiantly check compatibilities with cass, stepping and voltage)

Cons: I dislike factory installed heat sinks. not good enough.

Other Thoughts: than again I have never liked factory heat sinks. they go between too big will not fit, or doesn't cool enough. Always a pain to get off. I wish manufacturers let use choose after market ones with more ease.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system and giving it extra life. This is a high performance DDR kit, so configuring settings in BIOS will be required. In addition, only aftermarket motherboards are capable of frequency, timing, and voltage adjustment, so please make sure your motherboard can support it to operate the rated specifications. For pre-built computers such as Dell, HP, Gateway, etc., this kit is not recommended. Should you have any questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

3 out of 5 eggsslower than rated?

Pros: Works fine as additional memory.

Cons: I also experienced same as some of the other reviews. My motherboard would only detect these at 333Mhz. When I manually set the speed and timings in the BIOS, the system became unstable! Maybe they were mislabeled?

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having issues with the memory. If you have a pre-built computer, your motherboard may only be able to support the low timings at a lower frequency. If you have an aftermarket motherboard, make sure to manually configure DRAM frequency, timings, and voltage. Make sure to adjust voltage, without the increased voltage, the memory can not be stable at the rated specifications. For all further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsget them when you can

Pros: Installed in 2004 A-Open MOBO, system set it up at 2,2,2,5 in auto, it is working good so far, running constant 48 hours and did some reboots just to see if it does not get goofy. Heat spreader is from aluminum, I would prefer heavier copper like my 2 sticks of PMI before in this system, but as they say “they don’t make them as they used to”. I set it up in 2 original slots; POST is fine every time, system became most definitely relaxed now with these faster chips, especially with dense graphics information, slapped 20 pages of firefox junk on it and no problems. I did not run any games – have none, I suppose licking jam through the jar is not my forte, but I did run Edius 4 in HD and some ADA custom nav apps, which came out fast and in full glory. Happy with it and will stay so if it lasts. PMI at 2.5,3,3,7 did worked for years with no a single fail or thermal. This pair of G.Skill chips surprised me and I got them without having to mortgage my bass boat. Thank you NewEgg again!

Cons: I hope none

Other Thoughts: The junior engineers posting here and there having problem with bus speed at 400 need to check again how processor and ram talk – DRAM speed is no modulation tweak on 10 meter radio, cannot crank it up just because one would like to and can, because if so desired and missing data what will happen, is that the results will not be so cool. Thank heaven core of BIOS is written in machine code and mostly hidden or there would be burned out MOBO's piling up like diapers every trash day at the curb.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome RAM

Pros: Plugged it in, no problems what so ever.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: I bought two sets of this RAM to replace Wintec equivelent RAM. It turns out my RAM was a bottleneck for my system. I could not run the Wintec RAM at it's proper specs with out instantly crashing my system. This G-Skill is a 100 times better in every way.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid RAM, good company

Pros: - Been running stable since 2006
- Easy RMA on bum stick
- Good timings for a good price (back when I bought it)

Cons: - One stick stopped working not long after I got it

Other Thoughts: By the time I found out one of the sticks I got was making my system unstable I was too busy to even think about RMAing. When I did start to wonder about it, I figured I'd have no end of trouble from them because I'd sent in my UPC for a rebate and the warranty on it surely must have ended.

Five years later the one stick that didn't work was still sitting on my shelf and I was really feeling the hurt of only having 1GB of RAM. Since the other one had worked so well for so long, I figured I'd look into getting a used one of the same brand to fill out my set and so I did a quick google search. That's when I found out that there is a lifetime warranty for G.Skill's products. A few days wait later and I had a brand new stick. Popped it into my system and it's been working like a dream since.

You'll get bad RAM every now and then no matter where you go, but G.Skill's painless RMA and lifetime warranty won me over.... maybe now I will even have the chance to finally try some OCing.

5 out of 5 eggsGood RAM

Pros: Bought 2 sets of this RAM for a total of 4GB on an old A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. Currently running at stock DDR400 speeds just fine with no issues.

Cons: Had to manually set voltage and timings in the BIOS to run stable.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory

Pros: Quick latency and good look to them. This is my first purchase of G.Skills memory, very impressed. I will keep my eye open for this brand in the future.

Cons: Price! I wish it was less expensive but this old stuff isn't cheap. (Still cheaper than a new build)

Other Thoughts: It brought my 6 year-old P4 gaming computer back to life. Now it surfs the web and does spreadsheets like nobodies business. Great product
