5 out of 5 eggsRevitalized a MBP (early 2008)!!

Pros: Easy installation, Fast boot time/shut-down, Multi-tasking made more efficient

Cons: None to date.

Other Thoughts: Update: 3/12/2016 - RAM is still holding up well.

Bought these on 1/29/13, for $48.99. They arrived quickly and I immediatly made the upgrade. It was fairly easy to upgrade my MBP (early 2008) to accomodate the new 2GB, from the pre-existing 1GB of RAM. There is a noticeable increase in boot time and shut down speed, as well as plenty of memory to run architectural programs and web design programs at once, without a glitch. I wish my MBP coul dsupport more than 2GB, or I would have done more. If I had another laptop that needed upgrading, I'd try these again.

5 out of 5 eggsworks with Dell Inspiron E1705

Pros: I can confirm that this kit works with the Dell Latitude E1705. I didn't experience any unusual problems when booting for the first time with the new RAM.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: As others have noted, the machine will only make 3.25 gigabytes available to the operating system.

5 out of 5 eggsStill works after almost 3 years!

Pros: Still works! Everything feels smooth like silk! Works with my Linux too, LXLE.

Cons: Got shipped to the wrong side of the US at first, and I had paid for faster shipping. Not paying for rush again lol.

Other Thoughts: Still ticking after nearly 3 years in my X61T,(which was made in 2007) I wasn't really sure what ram to go with but read to look for low timings, 4 sounded low since my husband's desktop uses DDR 3 but his timings were 9-9-9-24. He used my ThinkPad after the ram upgrade and mentioned how fast Maya loaded and ran so smoothly! Then we tried Photoshop 6, Wow!! Mine ran circles around it too, I was shocked because his computer has a quad-core AM3 3.2ghz, mine is a Core2Duo 1.6ghz!
This made my ThinkPad feel silky smooth too lol. Now just need a solid state drive and just maybe mine will feel even faster lol! This ThinkPad is running Windows 7x64.

5 out of 5 eggsEggs-Cellent

Pros: See Other Thoughts

Cons: N/A thus far

Other Thoughts: I had an early 2008 MacBook that had all of 2 gigs of RAM. I didn't want to spend a fortune upgrading it to 4 Gigs (let alone 8 if it is even possible) by going through Apple resellers. It works brilliantly, and I didn't break the bank. The computer is noticeably more responsive. Absolutely a great buy for older machines needing a bit of a performance boost.

5 out of 5 eggsBreathe life into an old laptop

Pros: - Easy installation
- Works (no DOA!)
- Lifetime warranty
- Price

Cons: -N/A

Other Thoughts: Maxed out the RAM + added an SSD to a clients older Toshiba laptop, Fresh install of Windows 8 and it's like a brand new computer. RAM is always an easy upgrade for big performance gains.

2 out of 5 eggsThe exception to the rule

Pros: Well, none.

Cons: Sadly, neither stick turned out ot work properly.
The first was immediately (though not physically) and obviously not working properly. Bluescreens in Windows, system faults in Lubuntu. A memory test showed error after error with that stick.
The second stick seemed to be a winner, and I was content to just have 2gb for the time being. Sadly, it has also failed at least once an hour since I popped it in. I haven't run memory testing on it, but whatever the cause, I now have 2 sticks I can't use, and therefore RMA is necessary.

Other Thoughts: I love G.Skill products. Seriously.
I'll continue to order them. Seriously.
This is the exception to the rule, so far.
If it becomes` the rule, though, I'll be finding a new favorite brand. Please don't make me do that, G.Skill. That's a massive pain in the backside.
Don't send me any more defective RAM.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear the memory kit is not working properly with your laptop. Please check that you have the latest BIOS. An upgrade may be necessary to improve memory compatibility. Not all laptops can support CL4, CL5 is the standard. Exchange for the G.Skill F2-5300CL5D-4GBSA and it should work flawlessly. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, but it is highly unlikely both modules are completely defective. For any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us directly.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat...mostly

Pros: Provided exactly the boost my old laptop needed. Shipped in good nick, popped in just fine.

Cons: Only one of the sticks works properly. The other won't work properly, whether I try to run Windows or Lubuntu, or try installing either.
I tried running with both sticks installed, then after repeated crashes, I tried each stick seperately.
One stick works perfectly, the other (or both together) can't make it through boot under any circumstances I've tried.

Other Thoughts: I would like to RMA for a replacement, but I would obviously have to send both back, and I can't afford to have my only computer out of commission for a few days or weeks while I wait out the process. I'm going to have to make do with the single stick, which is still double what I had before.
Hence the 4-egg rating. I know this would be a great purchase if both worked properly.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory works well in your older laptop. With 4GB of low latency RAM, your operating system should be very quick and smooth. In many cases, it may seem like you have a new computer with all the lag alleviated. It is strange a module was defective, but send it in for RMA exchange and we can have a new one out to you shortly. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsNice but not a huge difference for me

Pros: Its nice gskill RAM, with low latency. It did raise the Windows experience index for the "memory" test a few points

Cons: I didnt notice any night-and-day performance difference on the laptop i put it in. Maybe thats because i already had 3GB installed, so i only had a gain of 1GB, or maybe its because the laptop is so old, the RAM cant make that big of a difference.

4 out of 5 eggsInstalled and works perfectly for my HP DV6500t

Pros: Good packaging. Works as expected.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Needed more memory on my laptop (had 2GB), so had to upgrade to Win7 64bit and then this memory module (4GB: 2x2) worked perfectly.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory works perfectly in your HP laptop. This memory kit should provide a nice boost to the system since it is doubling the original factory RAM. Doing so significantly improves the processing power of your computer. With only 2GB, it is easy for the operating system to lag during heavy load such as streaming, video play back, gaming, etc. especially in today's environment. With twice the capacity, you have twice the ability so you should not experience any delays. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.
