5 out of 5 eggsTop performance, good value

Pros: My sister's laptop was having random glitches, and a Memtest86 showed the installed memory throwing a lot of errors in the higher addresses. I checked compatible ram, (Choices were limited for this spec) and while I had not used this brand of memory before, it had not only the best specs but also the best price. Reviews indicated good reliability, so I gave it a try. Memtest86 showed no errors, and CPUID showed that her DELL laptop had accepted the faster timings, and all was working to the advertised specs, thus giving a bit of a performance boost over the factory installed memory.

Cons: None that I have found so far.

Other Thoughts: I stick with well known quality RAM and avoid the lower end brands. The price difference is generally very small, you almost never have a problem with quality ram, and if you do they stand behind their products. My favorites are Crucial, Kingston, AData, and now G.Skill

5 out of 5 eggsNeeded to up the laptop

Pros: I needed to up the memory in an old Dell Latitude. This has been working fine. I have two laptops and I put one of these in both.

Cons: Apparently, there's an identifier in the Dell manufactured memory. If I try to use two of these in the Dell, it didn't like it. So, I put the Dell in the first slot and this in the second. On first boot, it wanted to just tell me that it found more memory instead of saying it had none. However, it also identified the memory as non-Dell.

Other Thoughts: Happy that these were a gift from a friend. I'd probably not want to buy any manufacturer who tries to force you to buy their memory at 2x-4x the market price.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well in MacBook5,2

Pros: Was the cheapest Kit for 4Gb PC2-6400 available anywhere. I checked for months.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This memory isn't going to get cheaper, and I seem to notice a decline in availability in Canada (for DDR2). Buy if you really need an upgrade before there will be no feasible upgrade left.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in ThinkPad R61

Pros: * It's RAM -- it just works, as it should.
* Fast shipping by Newegg.

Cons: Doesn't come with free unicorns and/or rainbows.

Other Thoughts: Running 64-bit Linux, Firefox, and a 32-bit Linux in VMware Workstation was just too much for 2 GB of RAM in the R61. After it started swapping like crazy and becoming slower than molasses in January, it was obvious that more RAM was the answer. I was little concerned that the newer, faster RAM might not work in this older machine that originally had DDR2-667, but my worries were unfounded. This is a great way to update an older machine and make it snappy again.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy Upgrade

Pros: Fast Ship, Good Price and easy installation in my wife's laptop.

Cons: None that I've found

Other Thoughts: I got these because my wife's HP laptop was starting to have memory errors. Typical great NewEgg fast shipping, if you're at all competent with a laptop (heck even if you're not) its an easy installation

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great improvement in performance. Anything newer than WinXP really ought to have at least 4GB of ram. Made this 1GB Toshiba so much faster. Newegg had this delivered the next day.

Cons: It wasn't an 8GB kit.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the G.Skill memory was much faster than the original RAM. This is the highest frequency DDR2 SO DIMM you can purchase, so there is no better performing RAM. With 4GB of DDR2-800, your computer will be very smooth of anything you put it to including gaming, streaming, multi-tasking, and so forth. For any questions or concerns about G.Skill or G.Skill products, please feel free to contact us directly.
