5 out of 5 eggsPERFECT

Pros: fit with no resistance or issues whatsoever in my HP MiNi 110-1031NR - 2 screws and 2 seconds later I had effectively doubled my RAM and improved my MiNi's performance

didn't know how it'd respond to the improvement in CAS latency (4-4-4-12 from 5-5-5-15) but without any system changes or unforeseen issues it booted right up and recognized the upgrade instantly

Cons: I didn't do this sooner ?!@?!

Other Thoughts: was just my test machine i ran around to network devices and trouble calls with or use when I needed portability, but also boosted my browsing speed so now I will be using this netbook to do more, more often...

2 out of 5 eggsPhysical Size is Out Of Spec

Pros: looks good before you have to mutilate it, runs properly after you mutilate it.

Cons: The heat spreader makes the module larger than spec, and if you have a laptop with tight tolerances it will not fit until you peel off the heat spreader, which voids the warranty and removes the informative sticker. I tried to put these in a Panasonic Toughbook (T19).

Other Thoughts: I think these particular "heat spreaders" are actually just an aesthetic gimmick. They are not bonded with a thermal compound, but instead with an insulative sticker, which defeats the whole purpose.

They probably run cooler now that I have removed their "insulation".

G-Skill, guys... come on. This is pathetic.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We apologize for the inconvenience. The heat spreader should not affect installation. The modules are within spacing specifications so they will fit tightly if anything, but they are surely compatible. Regarding PCB to heat spreader contact, no modules use thermal compound as that is for CPUs only. If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to let us know.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: Great price for the performance boost. Using in my Acer Aspire One D250.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Visually, the card doesn't seem to be seated all the way in on one side, but after being installed for 2 months and having the netbook tossed around without any concern. The seating issue is likely due to either the design of my netbook or the heatsink on the memory.

5 out of 5 eggsGood ram

Pros: Works flawlessly in my HP Mini netbook. I installed this ram to upgrade my XP netbook from 1gb to 2gb about a week before I left for South America. It's worked fine for me, and it runs Ubuntu 9.10 perfectly as well.

Cons: This ram is really, really hot, probably double the heat of the original ram. Something I noticed immediately after install. Then again, it's twice the capacity (2gb vs 1gb) in the same size, so that makes sense. Just be aware

Other Thoughts: The ram was a little tight to get in, but that could just be the netbook. It's hot, but as stated above thats sort of acceptable. I took it on the road for a month in South America and I haven't had any issues at all with it in the 5 months I've owned it. I have a 45 day uptime currently if that's any indication of the quality of the ram.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Solid Memory

Pros: Nice solid memory, put it into a little at home server and I'm very pleased.

Cons: Nada.

Other Thoughts: I've put G.Skill memory into several PC's and servers, never had a problem, good stuff.
