5 out of 5 eggsWorked like a charm, beware of heatsink

Pros: Bought to give a bit more lifespan to an aging iMac. After getting memory into iMac, it worked flawlessly. Has been running 24/7 for 10 months, still going strong.

Cons: Beware of the heatsink, it is just wide enough to not fit into an iMac, or any other device that has size constraints.

Other Thoughts: My fault for not accounting for the size of the heatsinks, though it is worth mentioning.

Pros: Good product for the late-2008 MacBook Pro. Performs just fine.

Cons: Took a little wiggling to get it to fit with all the heat bits.

2 out of 5 eggsVery Unhappy

Pros: The ones that worked ran fine at advertised speeds

Cons: Have to RMA 3 of 20, GSKILL let me down with the quality

Other Thoughts: Two sticks would not allow the system to boot, the third crashed randomly. I feel three bad sticks out of twenty is unacceptable for a business environment. Just to verify the quality I ran the rest of the sticks with memtest and they passed

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We apologize for any inconvenience. It is odd three modules are defective. Please send them in for RMA exchange and replacements should work flawlessly. We can guarantee inventory directly from G.Skill will have no defects at all. Once you receive new ones, they will plug and play in a supported system. For any further questions or concerns, feel free to let us know. Your 100% satisfaction is very important to us.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat memory

Pros: nice looking and functional heat spreaders. snapped in and recognized by bios without difficulty.

Cons: price, to be expected for older memory standard

Other Thoughts: Upgraded a Dell D 630 To Windows 7 Ultimate and noticed a lag in performance. Upgraded memory to 4gb and the laptop now works like new again :)

5 out of 5 eggsFirst try with G. Skill

Pros: Clean looking ram with the heat sinks (and functional). An old MSI GX610-100 laptop that I was working on picked this ram up with no problems. Would try to benchmark it, but the hard drive is starting to fail. I will post again with scores/number when I re-install Windows after the new SSD drive comes later this week,

Cons: Was on the expensive side, but that is to be expected with aging DDR2 ram.

Other Thoughts: Glad I gave G. Skill a shot. I will definitely keep them in mind for future purchases for new system builds and repairs. A friend of mine buys them for customer builds all the time.

He has had a few that failed (out of a 50+ sticks), it happens. But what impressed me was the customer support he received. Especially helpful when your running a business. Also, seeing the manufacture post here on Newegg trying to help customers builds my confidence that they care.

This memory fits with the heat sinks. Heat sinks really don't add much in size when compared to my old ones. I had PLENTY of room.

1 out of 5 eggs???

Pros: none

Cons: Have tried this memory in 2 different laptops and they both have failed to even get to the boot screen.
I know the laptops are suppose to be able to handle the 4 gig.
Not sure if it is just an hp/compaq problem or if I got a bad batch because there is no way to check them if I CANT EVEN GET TOO THE BOOT SCREEN!!

Other Thoughts: Will not buy this brand for ddr2 again.
I have purchased other g skill and have had great success but for some reason these are a pain.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having issues. First, check that you have the latest BIOS for the laptop. If the laptop supports DDR2-667 2GB per slot, this memory should be compatible. Contact the G.Skill support team with laptop model to confirm. It is unlikely two modules are completely dead, so there may be a compatibility problem. For all further questions and concerns, feel free to contact us directly.
