5 out of 5 eggsFirst try with G. Skill

Pros: Clean looking ram with the heat sinks (and functional). An old MSI GX610-100 laptop that I was working on picked this ram up with no problems. Would try to benchmark it, but the hard drive is starting to fail. I will post again with scores/number when I re-install Windows after the new SSD drive comes later this week,

Cons: Was on the expensive side, but that is to be expected with aging DDR2 ram.

Other Thoughts: Glad I gave G. Skill a shot. I will definitely keep them in mind for future purchases for new system builds and repairs. A friend of mine buys them for customer builds all the time.

He has had a few that failed (out of a 50+ sticks), it happens. But what impressed me was the customer support he received. Especially helpful when your running a business. Also, seeing the manufacture post here on Newegg trying to help customers builds my confidence that they care.

This memory fits with the heat sinks. Heat sinks really don't add much in size when compared to my old ones. I had PLENTY of room.

1 out of 5 eggs???

Pros: none

Cons: Have tried this memory in 2 different laptops and they both have failed to even get to the boot screen.
I know the laptops are suppose to be able to handle the 4 gig.
Not sure if it is just an hp/compaq problem or if I got a bad batch because there is no way to check them if I CANT EVEN GET TOO THE BOOT SCREEN!!

Other Thoughts: Will not buy this brand for ddr2 again.
I have purchased other g skill and have had great success but for some reason these are a pain.

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having issues. First, check that you have the latest BIOS for the laptop. If the laptop supports DDR2-667 2GB per slot, this memory should be compatible. Contact the G.Skill support team with laptop model to confirm. It is unlikely two modules are completely dead, so there may be a compatibility problem. For all further questions and concerns, feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsAlways G.Skill

Pros: Low-profile heatspreaders still fit in my MacBook Pro. Recognized instantly, no compatibility issues.

Cons: No case badge.

Other Thoughts: I have been exclusively using G.Skill memory for my own PCs for at least five years now, and I've never had an issue. What drew me to G.Skill in the first place was the low incidence of failures, and their reputation for addressing failures quickly and satisfactorily.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's Memory

Pros: It is memory. Put this in an aging Dell D620 with 1gb of ram.

Cons: A little pricey, however all DDR2 memory appears to be these days. However, the heatsinks make me feel less guilty about the purchase.

Other Thoughts: Added an SSD and a Core 2 Duo T7200 (bought from another site) to the D620. It is like a brand new machine. Xubuntu boots on avg in 7 seconds. With the 1gb ram, Core Duo 1.8ghz processor, and 7200 rpm HDD xubuntu loaded around 45 seconds. Huge improvement. Using the 4gb ram allows me to remove the swap space from the ssd so I can eliminate reads and writes, and hopefully add some longevity to the drive.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Great upgrade for an aging Compaq/HP 6710b laptop. With 1 GB this was a slow machine but by adding 4 GB it has made all the difference. The heatsink on the RAM did not take up extra space and fit just fine in the slots of the old RAM which did not have any. Laptop recognized the Ram without any manual changes. Saved me from buying a new machine right now until I can decide on which Ultrabook later this year.

Cons: Windows XP 32 Bit does not use all 4 GB but that is not the fault of the RAM and just an inherent limitation.

Other Thoughts: Installation was difficult until I found a video on YouTube on how to remove the keyboard and then the whole thing only took 5 minutes.

4 out of 5 eggsBest DDR2 laptop RAM in it's class

Pros: Heat spreaders. Lifetime Warranty. G Skill is among the highest quality memory money can buy. Cool looking black heat spreaders. Popped them in, and it fired right up no problems. Recognized 4GB. They run cooler than the previous set, and are a bit faster even at the same frequency and latency. Great value.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought these for 2 reasons. It's G Skill and therefore is very high quality and has their Lifetime Warranty and they've got heat spreaders. None of the other DDR2 sticks Newegg sells have heat spreaders. So you get 4GB at the same price as all the other sets in it's class with heat spreaders which is a must for laptops. I was concerned they might not fit, but they not that big. I had plenty of room to spare. Unless your dimms are really close together you have nothing to worry about. If your current memory without heat spreaders is touching, they won't fit. If there's even the smallest bit of room between them they will.

Manufacturer Response:

So if the modules become defective in 5 years, no problem, we can have them replaced with new ones. No questions asked, no invoice necessary, as long as the memory modules are in their original condition, you can get free modules without any hassle. For any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade

Pros: Easy install, was worried about space with heat spreader but fit perfectly in my Toshiba M305-S4819. Works great so far. Running winVista right now but will be upgrading to win7 this week.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Installed in about 2 mins. Ran memtest and no errors.

Shipping took a little longer than expected but that's not the rams fault.
