5 out of 5 eggsExpensive but worth it.

Pros: 16GB of RAM for consumer class hardware. I'm using this RAM in one of my RHEV-H hypervisors for virtualization. So far it has been great, no hiccups at all.

Cons: Price, but like I said in the title, it's worth it.

Other Thoughts: Using with an ASRock A785GMH motherboard with a 95w AM3 AMD Phenom II Deneb 945 processor. Board went through POST and picked up the RAM without any problems.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in my P5Q-PRO!

Pros: I've had Hyper-V running 6 virtual machines occupying 12+ GB of this 16GB ram on a Server 2008 R2 box for over a month.

It's been ultra stable. Note that I am not an overclocker. I just needed RAM that would run stable and I was having bad luck elsewhere. Crucial (standard and ballistix would eventually crash)

This is the only thing that worked, and it's been flawless!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to buy 16GB of the DDR3 version of this RAM for my P5Q3 server. Wish me luck :)

3 out of 5 eggsMY RESPONSE TO MANUFACTURER RESPONSE BELOW...

Pros: I'd expect a little more from a manufactuter.

There is NO "32-bit RAM limitation."

Turning on or off features is microsofts way of doing things. Take Windows Server 2003 for example... it comes in four flavors... Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter Editions... same OS, good 'ol Windows version 5.2. 32-bit inside-and-out. If you used Web edition, the RAM limit was 2GB, Standard allowed 4GB, Enterprise up to 32GB and Datacenter you could have 64GB. They are all the same 3790 build.

Google this: "Server 2003 as a workstation."

Millions of people abandoned XP YEARS ago, and used 2003 Enterprise instead.

Cons: Remember Windows version 5.1 BEFORE SP1? or version 5.0 during its entire lifetime, as well as 5.2 which is industry standard today. version 5.0 (but not as much) w/ 4GB also! (ENT,STD & DTC flavors, but not WEB).. then came Windows version 5.2, the best 32-bit OS Microsoft ever gave us.

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition... the best 32-bit OS Microsoft has given us... aka Windows version 5.2... aka Whistler Server... whatever

Other Thoughts: Who cares?

I use version 6.0 build 6002. It's Vista without the Vista! Google this: "Server 2008 as a workstation."

Too bad Server 2008 R2 shares the same core as Windows Seven.

Wake up people... go to microsoft and download 2008, technetsearch to find it. NOT 2008 R2 (same as windows seven) .. re-arm it every 60 days. or Reinstall after 6 mos. There's a reason why it's a $6000 operating system.

3 out of 5 eggsrefute user review error

Pros: N/A

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: A previous reviewer stated that you must have a 64-bit OS to make use of this ram in its entirety. This is not true for all OS's, although it is true for Windows.

If you run Linux you can use the 2.6.xx-686-bigmem kernel and take full advantage of up to 64 gigs of ram while running a 32-bit system.

The lower limit on ram in a Windows 32-bit system is just another artificial limit placed on users by MS.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

That is correct, the Microsoft Windows 32 bit systems are all limited to up 3.5GB of memory. This may not be true for other brands of operating systems, but for strictly all Microsoft operating systems, it is indeed correct. In order to utilize more than 3.5GB, you will need to upgrade to a 64 bit Microsoft operating system or Linux etc.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know and we will be glad to assist you.
