- Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace the OCZ Gold DDR3 1600MHZ "JUNK" in my gaming computer. The OCZ was giving me a headache for over 6 months.
Constant tweeking, restarts, BSOD and Lockups made me finally start borrowing memory from friends to troubleshoot my PC. It turned out to be the OCZ Memory that I suspected from the start.
I paid close to $250.00 for 8Gigs of OCZ thinking it would be great. But after trial and error and teaking the timings constantly, it just would not give me a stable environment.
So I went with G-Skill. a company that has become a reliable source in the Gaming community. I bought 8 Gigs for $140.00. Slapped it in, set the timings to 8-8-8-21 2T 1.6v 1280MHZ and Overclocked my Q9650 to 3.6GHZ. Been running strong for a week straight now. No Hicupps, BSOD, Restarts or Crashes. Just fast gameplay with a 3DMark06 score of 21798 and 62FPS on Crysis Maxxed Out @ 1920X1200.
Granted I have 2 4870X2's :)
Bottom Line: OCZ-Never Again!!!!!
It's DDR3, and it works
- Pros: This RAM was listed on the Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P motherboard's support list, so I went with it. It has run flawlessly paired with that board and a Phenom II X3 710 CPU. It's kind of a silly thing to get excited about, but this RAM comes in an attractive shiny box, not just a flimsy clear plastic enclosure.
- Cons: The timings default to 9-9-9-24 at the default 1333Mhz speed, not 8-8-8-21. I'm assuming if one were to run them at a lower speed (i.e. 1066) that they would set to the lower timing. That's usually how that works. It's a bit misleading to list the lowest possible timings if they don't match with the advertised speed, but since everybody's doing it these days, I can't fault G.Skill specifically. Also, I guess the timings could be a more aggressive 8-8-8-21 at 1333Mhz, but one nanosecond doesn't seem like much of a reason to complain.
- Other Thoughts: Remember, if you're using a 32-bit OS, you won't get to us all four gigs of this RAM. You'll need to step up to 64-bit for that.

Great ram and great company
- Pros: Easy to install on my MSI 790FX mb.
Great customer service and response from GSkill.
- Cons: Had a little trouble setting the timings, but thats my inexperience more so than the ram.
- Other Thoughts: Gskill was very responsive when I contacted them regarding how to properly set the timings. I would gladly buy from them again.
