G.Skill Trident Ram
- Pros: Work Fine and have been running stock with no problems for 3 months. Got a great price from NEWEGG
- Cons: Heatsinks are tall and would not fit on my Gigabyte MA790x-ud4p motherboard mem slots 1 & 2 (closest to CPU) as they run into the CPU cooler. Marked down one star because of this.
-
Manufacturer Response:. Dear Customer Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory package is working properly. The heatsinks are roughly 3/4 inch taller than your standard sized memory so it may get in the way depending on your cooler and case. If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know and we will be glad to assist you. Thank you GSKILL SUPPORT Quality and customer service are our top priorities. Bad RAM
- Pros: Cool looking heat spreaders
- Cons: One DIMM didn't work. Gave consistent MemTest errors on two different motherboards, AMD and Intel CPUs. Even reducing the speed from the rated 1066 to 800 did not fix the errors. Currently waiting on the RMA
- Other Thoughts: I should have listened to the bad reviews, but I have had no previous problems with GSkill. I was instantly suspicious when it arrived in a thinly padded envelope shipped from the RMA Warehouse. I paid full price for new RAM, not an open box deal. So has anyone else been shipped "new" stuff from the RMA Warehouse?
-
Manufacturer Response:. Dear Customer We apologize for the inconvenience. All of our memory products are backed by a lifetime guarantee for these types of situations. If for whatever reason your memory is dead on arrival or becomes defective after a couple days, weeks, or years of use, we will exchange it with a new replacement without question. With regards to the RMA Warehouse issue, please contact NewEgg as they are the the ones in charge of shipping. If you have any further questions or issues with your G.Skill memory package, please feel free to contact us directly and we will be more than glad to assist you. Flashy but unreliable RAM Sticks
- Pros: Nothing except they look good.
- Cons: Couldn't even boot my system once after reinstalling the Windows.
I bought these after selling my PC6400 Pi Blacks in the hope of getting a performance boost. But these are nothing but PITA. I wonder why can't GSkill folks check these sticks before packing them up.
I ran Memtest on both the sticks together and individually and to my dismay both were bad.
I am serisouly disappointed and would never look back at the GSkill products again.
- Other Thoughts: I am not from US and bought the sticks from some other website (not one the newegg) while I was on a business trip to the US.
Now I am stuck with the RMA procedure as well since GSkill wants me to send the RAMs to either Taiwan or the US, which will eat half of the money I have paid to buy them initially.
The experience has disappointed me, royally.
I was foolish to get in to the trap of flashy logos, should nto have sold my earlier RAM sticks.
Getting OCZ Titanium now, at least they will be reliable.
