Pros: Pros for fast processing and shipping
Cons: I installed both stick booted up memtest got to 1% system rebooted. Tested each stick separately memtest got to 8% and 10% on each stick
Other Thoughts: When testing with memtest the speed G-Skill ran at 2349 MB/s my kingston Hyper X ran at 2756 both at DDR2-6400 and when tested at DD2-1066 G-Skill ran at 2715 MB/s and my old kingston ran at 3026 MB/s
We apologize for the inconvenience. After installing the memory, please make sure to properly configure memory settings in BIOS. If you use your original DDR2-800 settings, this memory package will not operate optimally. In BIOS, you will need to manually set DRAM Frequency to DDR2-1066. Memory timings tCL 5 - tRCD 5 - tRP 5 - tRAS 15 - Command Rate 2. Memory Voltage 1.80V. Once that is complete, everything should run fine. Pros: Pros for newegg with fast processing and shipping. No Pros for this memory. Been a big pain in the neck.
Cons: This is my 2nd set of this memory. First set both stick was faulty. Tested each stick with memtest, 1st stick froze at 8% and 2nd stick froze at 10%. when tested with both sticks in dual channel mode memtest rebooted at 1%. I recieved 2nd set from RMA installed both stick and can't get my system to POST. i've tried reseting the BIOS just no go. I put my old mem Kingston Hyper X PC8500 i have had this for a 1 1/2 years now with zero problems. So, I am goin to return these and get an exchange for other memory.
Other Thoughts: I have a Giga-byte GA-MA78LM-SH with phenom 9750 and Evga 7800gt 256mb AND THIS G-SKILL MEMORY is on there supported memory list. This is my first and last time dealing with G-Skill I even stuck my spare Buffalo 2x512mb pc6400 and they run fine.
We are sorry to hear you are having an issue with your G.Skill memory package. After installing the memory, please make sure to properly configure memory settings in BIOS. Your original settings for the Kingston memory may not work for the G.Skill. Simply set the memory frequency, timings, and voltage and everything should work just fine. Pros: Low voltage, stable and the heat sinks allow it to run even cooler.
Cons: The heat sinks are a bit large (vertically), so if you have an aftermarket heatsink on your processor you need to check and make sure it will fit.
Other Thoughts: I run mine with stock timings at 500MHz (DDR2-1000).
If you buy these, please remember they are not made to be great overclocking chips. They are just designed to run at a fast stock speed at a low voltage.
