5 out of 5 eggsGreat but near obsolete

Pros: These work just fine right out of the package, no issues with motherboard compatibility and it's G skill, a very trusted brand.

Cons: The only real con is that you're considering buying such a low ghz ram module. Most motherboards these days are all about that 2133/2400+ or even ddr4. So really even on a budget build these are dinosaurs.

3 out of 5 eggsHmmmm

Pros: Nice looking

Cons: Questionable functioning

Other Thoughts: Sticks work great individually and test great individually, but when two together, w7 gives lots of random errors and critical errors. Working with G.Skill tech support and it looks as if it is up to me to determine and fix the problem.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We will be glad to help with this issue. Since there doesn't seem to be a problem with the memory, you may want to double check CPU installation. It may also be a problem with the motherboard, so if you have other DDR3 RAM, you can test them to see if the problem exists. Troubleshooting steps are necessary to determine the cause and apply a solution. For all further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsRAM is RAM :)

Pros: I've used many brands; Corsair, Kingston, Mushkin, Patriot, generic. MAYBE with the exception of high-end Mushkin, which does seem slightly snappier and more stable than the rest, RAM is RAM. All of the big brands market quality sticks. G.Skill is the cheapest and therefore the best!

Cons: None in 4 builds.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother Bad Set From G.Skill

Pros: None

Cons: This was a replacement set after returning a different set of G.Skill RAM that had a bad stick that prevented posting. This set has one stick that seems to be shorting out or something. A little movement of the case and the system locks up.

Other Thoughts: Wasted a week troubleshooting after first thinking I had a bad mobo or bad PSU. Bad RAM was at the bottom of my list after JUST returning a different set of defective G.Skill RAM (different problem). If I put slight pressure on one of the sticks, the computer locks up. The other stick works correctly. Unreal.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having such issues. Check that the memory slots are clear of any dust or particles. Check that the motherboard and case is not touching in any matter, especially metal to metal areas. RAM generally does not cause the type of problem you are describing. If you think the memory is defective, no problem, send it in for RMA exchange and hopefully a new kit works better. Visit the G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure. For any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us directly.

4 out of 5 eggsWatch out for the heatsinks

Pros: Functions flawlessly. XMP profile.

Cons: The heatsinks are tall. This can be a problem if space is tight in the computer case, such as a minidesktop case with ITX or mATX boards.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working flawlessly in your system. This low latency memory kit will have great performance over standard RAM without having to overclock frequency. With a supported motherboard, enabling XMP will allow the RAM to run at full speed, it is that easy. The G.Skill RipJaws series heat spreaders are 38mm tall, they will clear most aftermarket CPU coolers, but you are right in that that can cause problems for small form factor cases that have no room for other than standard sized RAM. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent RAM

Pros: -Beautiful deep blue colored heatsink
-Fast
-Perfect for athlon gaming setups
-Low profile

Cons: -None

Other Thoughts: Added this RAM to a 760K Athlon and an MSI R7 250, and now my girlfriend has a pretty slick mid ranged gaming machine. Though this RAM is suitable for more than mid-range gaming, anything over 1600MHz isn't noticable. Probably because we don't need RAM faster than 1600MHz in a gaming perspective. You will want faster RAM if combining with an APU however, since APUs share the system RAM with the integrated graphics.

3 out of 5 eggsit's okay

Pros: Works fine so far

Cons: The huge Heatsink on top should be more easily removable to accommodate different builds and spacing inside cases. Instead of trying to remove it with a heat knife and voiding the warranty, now I have to live with the case somewhat open, drawing in dust and nullifying my fan's controlled airflow.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear the memory is working fine in your computer. The G.Skill RipJaws heat spreader is 38mm tall, so make sure to have enough clearance in your system build. The height is low enough to clear most aftermarket large CPU coolers, so generally it is not an issue. The heat spreaders for this kit is not removable, so if you need low profile RAM, please take a look at the G.Skill Ares series. For any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's RAM, it works as advertised

Pros: I recently added 4GB to a system I'd built 3.5 years ago with the same model RAM. It worked perfectly. It functions at advertised speeds with no surprises at all.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I don't have the technical knowledge to comment on anything but reliability and compatibility. Both are excellent. I can't imagine, at this point, ever buying RAM from a company other than G.SKILL.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome RAP

Pros: Upgraded to DDR3 because of new mobo and processor (i5 2500k). Has been running great for close to 3 years now! Bought a second set for my move to a 64 bit OS. Can't beat the price, and a nice look for those of you that like showing off your internals.

Cons: None I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Always happy with G Skill and Newegg!
