5 out of 5 eggsExtended the life of my WHS EX490

Pros: Works as it should

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I used to upgrade my HP Mediasmart EX490 for Server 2012 Essentials that used all of the 2GB I had. I had already upgraded the CPU to an 8400, but (Oscar Myer Golly competition and word police!) is the only source for quad cores now. The online flea market, rhymes with seaway. NE does not sell C2D anymore, so go someplace else for those. It is silly that NE does not want me to suggest a vendor who has them, these reviews are for us to help each other find parts and solutions. A new CPU makes for a more complete solution, even if that part of it is purchased elsewhere. I got the RAM here obviously. Now my complaint is over half of my post, good advertising for shopping around. I guess I am not suppose to care. Caring means using words that are banned.

Glad that a previous post mentioned their success with HP Mediasmart, made this purchase much easier.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat old memory

Pros: looks nice, works well, allowed me to max out my asrock am3 board and install 64bit win8, huge improvement from xp 32bit and 2gigs of ram Ive been playing BF3 on my old 512 4870 with an athlon 2, 3.4ghz dual core and getting 20-30fps, not bad for old memory, cant wait to see how it runs with my new 3gb 7950

Cons: wow they dont give this stuff away do they? Almost built a new computer instead of buying this, but I hate throwing stuff away that works so I bought the 2 4gig sticks while they are still available, I couldnt even find 4 gig sticks of 1066...the bonus is I cant fit anymore so I'll never have to pay that price again...Phewww

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory!

Pros: Some of the fastest memory I have seen as a 4GB stick listed at 5-5-5-15. Runs smooth in most games I have played with it. Runs great when I program. Runs great for watching movies, video editing, and most of my graphics art & layouts design. Has heat sinks on it which is a nice feature. Doesn't seam to run to hot.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: The only thing I don't like is the price... I was going to just buy a new motherboard, cpu, and ram but because I own two Q9300 CPU's for my socket 775 motherboard which supports up to 16GBs of memory I decided I would just go ahead & get another one this next month & try to commit to getting the other 2 with in the next few months. I can beat the timing on this memory, and even though I am behind on sockets it does everything I need it to do. Great memory for anyone who needs DDR2 800 memory.

I am running 4GB currently of this memory on the following rig,

- CPU: Core 2 Quad Q9300
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P43-ES3G
- Memory: G.SKILL 4GB 240-Pin DDR2
- Hard Drive: Master Drive OCZ Solid 3 SLD3-25SAT3-60G (60GB)
- Video: ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB PCI-E (Via DVI on a 17" CRT)
- OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit
- Power: Cheif Max 680W ATX PSU

The memory runs great & I look forward to getting another 4GB this next month, and another 8GB to add to this soon to be 8GB as soon as possible. My other motherboard runs the same memory but is an AMD build which I put into my roommates old eMachine to give it life... I am running DDR2 800 2GB on it which is more then enough for what he uses it for. That board also supports 16GB DDR2 800 as well but being I am not a big fan of AMD.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory

Pros: Believe it or not this is some really good gaming memory & I have had no problems with it at all. I use it mainly for gaming, programming, and video editing.

Cons: The only con I have is the price compared with DDR3 but then again its older memory now. Other wise its awesome memory!

Other Thoughts: If your looking for good memory for pretty much any task I would recommend this memory to anyone who is looking for good fast DDR2 800. I had planned to go to 16GBs but I figure its a loss seeing as to its cheaper to buy a newer motherboard that supports DDR3 & max out at 16GBs instead of spending more money with this memory.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for HP Ex485 ram upgrade

Pros: It works

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I brought this to upgrade the ram on my EX485 from 2GB to 4GB. it did not speed up the system but i did notice that backups happen faster now.

I did not have to make any BIOS changes its was just plug and play, the server booted right up and recognized all 4GB ram even if it Win2003

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory!

Pros: Its fast running at 5-5-5-15 for a 4GB stick of memory. Runs very smooth for most of my games & also for my art & video editing.

Cons: Its dis continued!

Other Thoughts: Its discontinued & I can not afford to buy the 16GB package all at once. I have been trying to get one stick as often as possible but needed other things also & only got one of them. Shame I wanted to max out at 16GB asap! But not a con against the memory its great memory!

1 out of 5 eggsDOA, SENT BACK AND NEWEGG LOST ITEM

Pros: Looked nice?

Cons: Dead upon arrival.

Other Thoughts: Was sent defective ram. Newegg issued a RMA, item was packed well in a box with a 2nd RMA item, both items clearly marked. Newegg claims they never received the memory!

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact NewEgg directly and they should be able to sort it out. If you returned the defective module, they should send you a new replacement. Once you receive a good module, you should have no issues. This is a plug and play memory kit, so you will have an additional 4GB of memory ready to go. For an older system, it can dramatically improve performance. Should you have any questions or issues regarding the memory, feel free to contact us directly and we will be glad to assist you.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGood Memory

Pros: Low cost, very flexible memory. I would recommend this brand to anyone.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was required to update my bios to get this memory to function properly but that does not fault the memory.
The support staff for the company is quick to answer questions.
