4 out of 5 eggsCheck your XMP

Pros: Runs at a great CAS with very low voltage. Low profile heat spreader is a nice change from the monstrosities I'm used to. Running very good benches once I got it stable.

Cons: Locked up the BIOS and BSOD'd Windows 100% of the time within 5 minutes of boot when I initially loaded XMP settings. I bumped the voltage up just slightly to 1.3625V and it seems stable at this point. Makes me glad for the .00625 voltage resolution on my MB...

Other Thoughts: I have yet to run Prime95 for more than 15 minutes or so, but if I need to bump up the voltage to 1.4 like some other reviewers it's no big deal. The fact that it runs as quick as it does at >.25V less voltage than standard is great for my HTPC, helps keep things cool and quiet.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear this great kit is working well in your system. Not only are the rated specifications already impressive, this kit can be overclocked even more. With increased voltage, many have been able to take these upwards of DDR3-2133! It is not your standard PC memory, it can be used as low voltage performance memory, or increased voltage as a high performance gaming kit. Either way, results should be spectacular. Should you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost as advertised

Pros: Runs cool, at advertised timing with zero errors. Cant complain.

Cons: Took 1.45v to keep it stable at 1600mhz, no big as its still .20v below standard xmp.

Other Thoughts: As always gskill ram is rock solid when running. At .1 over advertised voltage I cant complain but thats where the egg was lost.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. We are sorry to hear the kit required slightly more voltage, but glad to hear it is stable. Should a module go bad in the future, your kit is backed by a lifetime guarantee anyway, so you can send them in for a new kit that should work to specification. The ECO series is one of our top performing kits, so you should be very satisfied.

Thank you

3 out of 5 eggsThis 8GB set worked, its 4GB sibling did not

Pros: Low profile, low voltage RAM, rated for fast XMP speeds. This 8GB set worked fine right out of the package on an ASUS Rampage III Gene motherboard with an i7-950. The low profile RAM is especially useful because the larger CPU coolers will usually cover some of the RAM slots on the motherboard. The G. Skill memory fits just fine with the Zalman CNPS 10x Flex CPU cooler (with two 120mm fans) on the ASUS Rampage III Gene motherboard.

Cons: Its 4GB sibling failed at the rated XMP timing and voltage settings. I was trying to get my computer up to 12GB. Had to RMA exchange the 4GB set through Newegg. The second set did work, finally.

Other Thoughts: I've never posted a review for RAM before. I've never had RAM fail on me before, right out of the package. If you look closely at the Newegg reviews, the 8GB set of this memory has fewer and better reviews than the 4GB set. Is there a difference? About 30% of the 4GB reviews are to complain that the 4GB memory would not work at the XMP timing or low voltage for which it is rated. Makes me wonder whether G.Skill tests the 8GB set more rigorously than the 4GB set at the XMP timing and low voltages.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear the 4GB kit did not work properly. Glad to hear a replacement was able to resolve that. The 4GB and 8GB kits are tested the same, except the 8GB kit is guaranteed for 8GB. All of our memory packages will operate to specification. The complaints you are referring to may be for several reasons; not all motherboards and CPUs can support low voltage memory. People assume low voltage means any motherboard can operate at a lower voltage, but this is not true. Many motherboards will default to 1.50V or 1.60V, without the ability of 1.35V. For this reason, surely the XMP or rated specification will not work properly. But if used on any P55 motherboard that we designed it for, you will find that it is a great memory kit.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply works..

Pros: Used with Gigabyte GA-H55M-USB3 LGA 1156 mother-board. Booted up fine first time showing all 8Gb with standard 1.5V at 1333 speed. Installed Windows-7 Premium 64-bit then enabled XMP in the Bios.
Everything then booted fine and to the rated 1600 speed, 1.35V and rated timings. I couldn't be happier with the product.

Cons: No complaints. I got everything I paid for.

Other Thoughts: The Windows Experience Index for memory is the highest number of all my components ( 7.7 )

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Very pleased with this ram. I am getting advertised CAS timings with minor tweaking in the BIOS to get 1600Mhz on my GA-P55-UD3R.
Low voltage :)
Arrived safely.

Cons: Buying two (2x2gb) sets was cheaper.... :(

Other Thoughts: This is my second set of G.Skill high-performance RAM and I am pleased with both.

4 out of 5 eggsGood RAM

Pros: All 4 sticks worked on initial bootup. I mean it's RAM, it works, and I've only had 1 problem with it so far.

Cons: It's advertised as DDR3 1600 but it comes, by default, in 1333. I'm a bit of a bios noob and don't have any friends to help me out so when I set it to 1600 in the bios the computer wouldn't start up. Now my guess is that I need to increase the voltage as 1.35V is barely anything, but I just couldn't figure out how to do it.

:(

Other Thoughts: I was hoping this would be a little more "noob friendly" in terms of what it comes by in default.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. This kit is not exactly compatible with your motherboard. The AMD 790 chipset can not support 1.35V VDIMM, and it may not be capable of DDR3-1600 CL7. Please contact our technical support department directly and they will help make the best of this situation. They will help tweak settings to work, or recommend you a kit that will work properly.

4 out of 5 eggsgood RAM at a good price

Pros: Very good price and good timings. Heat spreaders aren't gaudy oversized flashing blinking annoying things. (I actually skipped purchasing another kit that was less expensive because it had "teeth" sticking up from the spreaders.)

Cons: I had to bump the voltage up to 1.5 to get this kit to work without errors using the advertised timings on an MSI P55A-GD65 mb and I7-870 processor. Not a big deal, but the 1.35 volts the kit should work at.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. This kit should definitely operate at 1.35V, if not, please feel free to send them in for new replacements if you would like. As far as heat spreaders, it is a personal preference. Some people ask why we do not produce memory with blinking LEDs, or with more elaborate designs, but unfortunately we do not produce products for aesthetic purposes. With G.Skill, you will only be getting the highest quality overlocking/gaming memory.

5 out of 5 eggs8GB kit works AOK

Pros: Low voltage
Good timings
Low profile design that fits nicely under large CPU coolers
Windows 7 memory WEI score on my system is 7.7 Excellent!

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: This memory is installed on a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P motherboard, with i5-750 CPU and Noctua NH-D14 cooler. The memory tucks nicely under this cooler. The i5-750 is overclocked with the BLK set to 160 and 10x memory multiplier. This allows the memory to run at its guaranteed 1600 speed, otherwise it will default to 1333. I had to manually set the memory voltage to 1.4V as 1.35V was not an option with this motherboard. I'm running this memory at stock 7-8-7-24-2N timings and have passed mem86+ and prime95 torture tests. After many hours of testing, the memory runs cool.

I bought this 8gb kit instead of 2 - 4gb kits. My reasoning was that the memory sticks would stand a better chance of coming off the same production run. Better for tighter timing capability between memory sticks. I feel like I made the right decision as I have had ZERO problems with this 8gb kit so far.

Final thought for purchasing, G.Skill has Lifetime warranty if needed. You can't beat that!

5 out of 5 eggsperfect

Pros: I havent had the chance to overclock it but as soon as I got them and finished building the pc I put them on and the pc understood all 4 sticks like a dream. I am not worrying about overclocking them later on cause I have built other pc's with the same sticks and they do perform just like it should.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: love their designs
