3 out of 5 eggsVery fast memory

Pros: - Timings (7-8-7-24)

- Speed (1600)

- Reliability (No errors whatsoever on Memtest)

- Nice look

- Come with fans

Cons: - No cons with the performance of the memory itself.

- Fans rack could be a little more solid to hold better in place.

- First problem i ever had with something comming from NewEgg. (See "Other thoughts:"...)

Other Thoughts: - I put these cons here because i don't know who is responsible: The manufacturer or someone at NewEgg. I was very disapointed when i opened the box because it obviously had already been opened and the content been tempered with. First, I had to glue back in place 1/3 of one of the fan sticker because it had evidently been pulled off. Second, one memory had scratch on the metal of the heat spreader. Third, and the worst, one other memory had half of his warranty sticker completely ripped off... Nowhere to be found even in the box. The first thing i have done is to memtest all the memory extensively to see if there was some internal damage done to them. But they worked perfectly and still do. So i decided to keep them instead of taking the chance to exchange them and find myself with another set with errors on it. So i remove 3 eggs because of the 3 problems they had on it and give back 1 to be fair because i can't be sure the manufacturer is responsible for this.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you received the memory in such condition. That should never happen at all. We do test memory several times to insure quality control, but the memory should look absolutely brand new with no such marks or ripped stickers. Glad to hear the memory is working properly. Since we offer lifetime warranty, there is no need to worry about it. We can always exchange for a new kit if they become defective over time.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsFinally the wait is over

Pros: Hands down best timing (for sub $1k). Waited forever for it to be available again (other than ordering it from Europe at stupifying prices).

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I wish they were 6 x 8GB.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Soo much RAM. 24GB is great for running multiple VMs. This RAM is quick with good specs and runs solid at the advertised speed and timings: DDR 1600, 7-8-7-24.

I have it running now in an ASUS Rampage III Extreme at 1.65V at the advertised speed/timings with no problems. I haven't tried pushing it further and probably won't.

It provides me with a WEI Memory score of 7.9 in this configuration on x64 Windows 7.

Cons: Seems picky as to which sticks go where. I'm not sure if this is the RAM or the MB at fault but when I first installed all 6 sticks, only 16GB were showing up upon boot and in Windows 7 (although oddly, CPU-Z showed all 24GB). I had to pull all the sticks out and re-insert them in a different order to get all 24GB. I referred to the serial numbers (they were all in sequential order) and installed as such:

SN X in slot 1 (channel 1)
SN X+1 in slot 3 (channel 2)
SN X+2 in slot 5 (channel 3)
SN X+3 in slot 2 (channel 1)
SN X+4 in slot 4 (channel 2)
SN X+5 in slot 6 (channel 3)

After that all 24GB have consistently been recognized without issue.

The supplied fan apparatus sucks. The clip is weak and no amount of bending (yes they have you bend it in according to the instructions) makes it fit tightly. I just went without it as my case has sufficient air circulation.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It probably has the best timing/speed ratio. And if you need lots of memory this is it!

Cons: It's expensive, for that price you could get two high end graphics cards, two high end motherboards, or one high end CPU.

You can actually buy two 12gb sets of the same type and brand of this memory for less.

Other Thoughts: Although no 'average' program or game will ever need this much memory, even when running several big programs at once, it just feels nice to max out your motherboard.

Need lots of memory, then this is for you!
