In addition to robust performance, the G.SKILL ECO series memory kit is designed with another purpose: eco-friendliness. These memory kits operate at 1.35V rather than the standard 1.65V, resulting in less power drain and heat generation. The 32mm low profile allows easy integration into HTPCs or other small form factor systems. And the premium-quality heatsink promotes efficient heat dissipation as well as a great look inside your chassis.

  • newegg Low Voltage Designed to operate at 1.35V, the G.SKILL ECO memory kit helps lower overall system power usage, which also reduce the heat produced from your system. It requires 18% less VDIMM, and lowers temperatures up to 16%, than the standard 1.65V memory.
  • newegg DDR3 1333 This memory kit is rated at 1333MHz to deliver up to 10.6GB/s bandwidth per channel to deal with the evolving needs of today's operating systems and applications. Cas Latency 7 timing ensures smoother system response.

3 out of 5 eggscheck compatibility

Pros: Low voltage is a great idea?

Cons: Did not actually work in the motherboard I wanted it for. The mobo listed other 1.35v DIMMs in its compatibility list but would not boot up at all with this kit (nor with just one DIMM in either slot). I ended up returning it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear the memory did not work well in your system. This is a high performance memory kit that will work great for a system that can support it. Low Voltage and latencies is not for every computer. Only aftermarket boards with the ability to tweak BIOS can fully utilize the performance of this RAM. For other systems such as pre-built Dell, HP, and so forth, DDR3-1333 CL9 is recommended. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works, the integrated cooler doesn't interfere with anything on the case, and the included G.Skill sticker covered over an obnoxious "CD-ROM" logo silkscreened onto my case.

Cons: My ECS HDC-M/C-60 (v2.0) motherboard claims this memory is running at 1.5V. [This motherboard does not have any manual voltage settings (for the memory or the CPU) in the BIOS.]

At least on the motherboard I have, there is not any significant difference between the default timings (9-9-9-27?) and 7-7-7-21 timings. But my motherboard only has a single channel memory controller, so I didn't expect much of a difference.

Other Thoughts: But if the memory was running at 1.5V and not 1.35V, then I should be seeing memory errors while running memcheck86.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory works well in your system. DDR3 Low voltage memory is not supported by all motherboards. Sounds like the motherboard you have does not, but luckily DDR3 modules have on board voltage regulators to control the extra voltage your motherboard may be supplying to the modules. This is a very high performance memory kit, so you should be very pleased with the result. With 8GB of DDR3-1333 CL7, your computer will be capable of anything you put it to. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsTimings work

Pros: The memory operates at the correct timings and voltage. Amazing.

I have not always bought GSkill. To me when I first saw the brand many years ago I thought it was a cheap brand. Never hear of them. I finally tried the brand. The memory works great and all at a low price. I guess it is cheap. Cheap price! Now I always buy this brand. Quality, performance, and cheap price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Eco friendly

Pros: Good Compatibility, hassle free no problems and gives good performance boost to Windows 7. Runs at a low 1.35 volts for eco friendly Computers or HTPC. Great looking memory.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: some motherboards may not be able to run at 1.35v for memory so be cautious when purchasing or research your motherboard before purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsWorking Great

Pros: Working perfect with no issues. That's the most important part with memory to me. Low voltage is nice even if it doesn't make a huge deal overall. Low latency.

Cons: Very minor issue... I noticed as I pulled out one stick of memory temporarily for a different PC, that the heat spreader was a little loose on one side. If I squeezed it, it stuck to the memory chip but would easily pop off again. Unless you're overclocking your memory (or using fully-buffered stuff), the heat speaders are mostly just for show anyways and do little to cool the memory. And being low-voltage memory to begin with, I have no concern this will cause any issues.

Definitely not something I'm going to RMA over. Just making a note of it.

Other Thoughts: Running as spec'd for a couple weeks now. Replaced a 4GB (2x2GB) pair from the same series. Plugged it in and selected Profile 1 from the XMMS settings and it's been great. This is my third set of the G.Skill low-voltage memory and all have been great with no issues. Only issue I've had is that the motherboard ran it 0.1V above rating. From what I've found recently it sounds like this is normal possibly because of bad memory from a while back that wouldn't work without a little extra voltage. So MB makers play it safe and run memory a little high. At least with my newer boards, I can set the memory manually and get it running at about 1.36V by selecting 1.3V instead of the default 1.35V setting that runs at 1.44V. This isn't the case on my older AM3 board though :(

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working perfectly with no issues. This is a great kit as it is low voltage, low latency, but high capacity. With regards to the loose heat spreader, that is odd, but it should still work just fine. In the future, should the module go bad or you would like to get it replaced, we would be glad to do so at that time. As far as voltages, the value set in BIOS and the actual supplied/operating value may vary. As long as you manually input the setting, you should have no issues. There are no issues with the memory, the actual voltage simply differs from motherboard to motherboard. For any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

2 out of 5 eggsjust doesn't work

Pros: Newegg was very nice about returns.

Cons: Memory just doesn't work as advertised.

Installed first set, used BIOS to specify 7-7-7-21@1.5V. Ran Memtest 4.0, got errors. Tried Win 7, and got BSOD. Did RMA. Installed second set, used BIOS to specify 7-7-7-21@1.5V. Ran Memtest 4.0, got errors. Tried Win 7, and got BSOD. Put original memory back in, and it all worked fine.

Other Thoughts: FYI, I have an ASUS P5Q3 motherboard, with an Intel P45 chipset. The memory says it's designed specifically for the P55 chipset, but I figured that was just hype. Perhaps they should have used different words, and say that it was designed *exclusively* for the P55 chipset. Then folks like me would know not to waste time with this stuff.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear the memory did not work properly for your older platform. Memory designed for a specific chipset can be used with another chipset, but some adjustments may be needed. In the future, you should always ask us beforehand if you have any uncertainty. The reason this kit does not work properly is because it is low voltage 1.35V. You are attempting it at 1.50V (your motherboard minimum), so of course the memory will not be stable. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Working perfectly at 1.35v on an MSI P55 board

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The energy saved is not that much, still it adds up over time and it also means less heat.

2 out of 5 eggsNot stable at 1.35v

Pros: +Stable at 1.4v, which is still low-power usage
+Not overpriced

Cons: - NOT stable at 1.35v.

In another review, G.Skill claims that voltages vary across different systems. This is true, but that is why you spec products with a healthy safety margin. I doubt their engineers agree with the 1.35v advertised spec.

Other Thoughts: I am using a top of the line PC Power & Cooling Silencer 910W power supply at max 40% load and a motherboard with 8-phase power. Using software monitors, memory voltage NEVER dropped below 1.349v, and was usually 3.51-3.53v.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear the memory requires slightly more voltage than rated. This memory kit is designed for the Intel P55 platform, so understand that if this is not what you have, then slightly more voltage may be required. Should you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.
