5 out of 5 eggsFast and stable

Pros: Works great with i5-3570K and GA-Z77X-UD3H since Jan 2013. Quad-channel kit, lifetime warranty. 16GB recognized easily by mobo as DDR3-1600. With XMP enabled in BIOS reaches 9-9-9-24 timings. 22284MB/s in winsat mem assessment, 7.9 WEI RAM subscore in Win7 Pro 64. Very low latency is where it really shines in benchmarks. From 54.7ns to 50.7ns reported by AIDA64 under different conditions, but it depends greatly on mobo and cpu capabilities. Gigabyte EasyTune6 auto tuning makes it run @1664 raising BCLK to 104MHz w/o an issue. You can tweak it a bit manually at your own risk with some patience. I tried 101, 102, 103MHz BCLK and memory multipliers of 18, 18.66, 20, 21, 21.33x with different voltage settings and 1T/2T command rate. I got higher bandwidth but worse timings mostly. Eventually I went back to 100x16 and XMP enabled for best stability and timings possible. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and GSkill performance at stock.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Heat spreaders size might be an issue with some air cooling but none with water.
Interestingly , it runs @1.524V w/o XMP and @1.488V with XMP, everything else on auto/default.
Z series was designed for Z79 chipset and LGA-2011 core i7 but runs well with my Z77 and i5 setup. I did check my mobo (GA-Z77X-UD3H rev. 1.0) memory support list pdf file first. F3-12800CL9Q-16GBZL is listed there on pg.6, 2nd from top.
Compared to X series, it is hard to tell why it has 1 egg less, but it fully deserves 5 eggs rating IMO.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: It's pretty good RAM.

Even under full load, they don't get that hot. Maybe it's the heat spreaders, the multitude of case fans I have, especially the one pointed right at the ram, maybe it's Maybelline, but I'm going to give G.Skill the benefit of the doubt and say they did a great job.

Cons: RAM is still 2-3 times higher than it was before "the incident" a few years ago. I could have got 32 gigs at the price I paid for these 16 gigs.

Other Thoughts: 16 gigs of RAM that runs at its advertised speed, and all 4 sticks worked right out of the package.

3 out of 5 eggs1 faulty stick

Pros: It was still working when I didn't notice the errors.

Cons: I'm not too technical so I didn't know about memtest before trying it today. I bought this in May 2012 and it seemed fine until last December when I installed a new VGA. After that I noticed a pattern of memory management BSOD when I run multiple programs like adobe suite or copying large files and such. Googled and tried memtest, 1 stick returned errors. Not sure if it came this way and I just found out or I damaged it somewhere along the way, but I didn't touch the sticks when installing VGA. I'm running on 2 sticks now but obviously I bought 4 not 2.

Dear Customer

We can surely help with this situation. If you memtest the modules individually and sticks throw errors, send them in for RMA exchange and we can ship you a new kit right away. Once you receive it, make sure to configure settings in BIOS/EFI, or enable the XMP/DOCP Profile. Without doing so, the memory can corrupt and become defective over time. Visit the G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff, so far.

Pros: Works well so far, was on sale. Heatsink RAM.

Cons: Barely fit together, with each card's heatsinks pushing on the adjacent ones. About the only con I can think of.

Other Thoughts: G.Skill makes good ram, by the looks of it, but one has to ask themselves if they will honor the lifetime warranty mine came with?

** For full disclosure, I have resold and used Crucial memory for nigh on two decades now, and I am deeply impressed with their warranty and service on the few occasions I've had a need to RMA something to them.

I called G.Skill awhile back to try to establish a similar relationship, but I received a "looking into it" email from a Mr. Frank Chen and that was it. One hopes their warranty service is good, but as I have only purchased two sets of G.Skill memory to date, I don't have a large enough sample pool to check failure rates and fulfillment rates and speed.

1 out of 5 eggsnot impressed..

Pros: Flashy design, easy to install

Cons: Right after installing the new ram on my computer I had several issues. first of all it didn't read any of the sticks which I installed in the correct slots. I had to go into my bios and change settings to be able to read memory which is designed for this type of motherboard??? (Gigabyte x79-up4). lastly my computer runs so sluggishly after installing this new memory which I had high expectations for, for some reason my cpu is bottlenecked at 1-5% usage at all times even when I run a program?? this all started happening after I replaced my old memory with this product.. I'm currently using my old ram because the performance with this ram is unbearable..

Other Thoughts: Might return it and try out some new corsair memory if I don't find a solution for this..

My computer specs as of now:
Intel core i7-3820 3.60-3.80ghz
Thermaltake smart series 850w
8gb Corsair xms3 1600
Evga GeForce gtx 680 superclocked signature 2
Gigabyte x79-up4

Dear Customer

We can surely assist you in getting your computer to run at maximum performance. This memory kit is above standard, so it is necessary to manually input settings or enable the XMP Profile in BIOS/EFI. Without the proper configuration, the motherboard will not recognize the performance values of the RAM. Once you input the proper settings, the system will be fast and stable. Should you need any assistance with this, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Perfectly in Z87-Pro MB

Pros: This memory has been working flawlessly in my ASUS Z87-PRO mainboard for well over a month now. Very happy with my purchase from NewEgg.ca

Cons: No cons at all on the product its self, however the shipping materials could have been more robust. The plastic packaging was damaged when I opened the shipping box. Why they put the memory right on the bottom of the box without any padding is beyond me. Lazy I suppose. The entire product should be wrapped in bubble wrap or paper or something, not just thrown in a box with some padding on top.
