5 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: 32 gb 1600 for $166
32gb is a lot, maxes out my x79 board. But I figured why upgrade later. Just go all out now.
If I end up having too much ill turn 16gb of it into a ram disk and put my favorite game on it.

Cons: Clocked in at 1333 default, easily switched in bios to 1600

Other Thoughts: Installation was easy, I haven't installed ram in 5 years. Almost forgot which way it went. Didn't hurt the ram at all. Turned it around and it popped right in.

4 out of 5 eggsFirst G.Skill Failure

Pros: Quality modules. G.Skill packages their RAM well and takes pride in not only presentation, but the manufacture and overall quality of their products. All 4 DIMMs tested flawlessly upon arrival and I even used all 32 GB of addressable space stitching several 10 gigapixel+ panoramas together. The RAM worked flawlessly and was lightning fast.

Cons: Didn't immediately POST at 1600Mhz, but that's no fault of G.Skill's. Quick trip to BIOS fixed that right up. I operated them at 1600Mhz without issue until the first week of January 2013, when I started having a lot of problems with Windows booting. "No Hard Disk Detected. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot". At first I thought my HDD was gone (it's 4 years old) but a quick memtest led me to believe my motherboard was at fault. I swapped the RAM into another board (AMD instead of my default Intel board) and the same errors came up: several million at the same point in the test and at the same address range. I'm still a little shocked a G.Skill product died on me, but glad they come with a lifetime warranty.

Other Thoughts: I've been a system builder for a decade and since I switched to G.Skill 5 years ago, this is the first kit I've had fail me. Purchased 7/25/2012, so I got just over 5 months out of them. I hope the RMA process will go smoothly and will update my review accordingly.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory worked flawlessly and was lightning fast. Based on your test results, sounds like a module may be defective. Please send it in for RMA and a replacement should work flawlessly. Unfortunately, due to the nature of DRAM, random defects can happen. For that reason, all G.Skill memory kits are backed by a lifetime warranty. At any time a module does not work properly, we can have it replaced without question. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free, so you will receive new modules shortly. For any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us directly.

3 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality Control?

Pros: Lots of cheap memory

Cons: Received 1 dead DIMM on arrival. After spending a little time swapping out sticks I was able to find 3 working sticks and ran off 16GB whileI waited for an advanced RMA. Got the second set in and AGAIN had 1 dead stick out of the four. If I hadnt been able to talk newegg into doing an advanced RMA I would be super angry. Luckily I was able to mix and match the 8 sticks I had to get 4 working DIMMS and I now have the full 32GB. But come on, two times in a row?

Other Thoughts: I've been running G.Skill ever since I saw them posted on Newegg many years ago. I have never had a problem with them. But I've always ordered pairs, never a set of 4. None of my builds have ever had an issue and none of my friends have ever had issues either. It could be bad luck, but its still a concern I have now when ordering large sets of ram for these guys.

5 out of 5 eggs2011 Board, Works Great

Pros: Purchased 4:
Two builds with 64gb each

Large heat sinks
Installed on 2011 board. Just the perfect size to not interfere with my cpu cooler.

All 16 work fine and show the correct speeds.

Cons: For some reason the 8x8gb exact ones are $20 more than these (4x32gb). I would figure they would be cheaper for buying in bulk.

Other Thoughts: Two Exact Builds
-i7-3820
-64GB DDR3-1600 Ram Gskill (8x8gb)
-Cooler master hyper 212 evo cooler
-Cooler master RC-692A-KKN5 mid-atx case
-WD Blue 1TB HD
-Asrock x79extreme 2011 board
-Raidmax 850ae gold psu
-Single Nvidia GPU 1GB

4 out of 5 eggsOouch

Pros: Worked ok with intel i7-3770 / DH77EB motherboard but only upto 1333MHz.

Cons: BIOS shows 1333MHz as current speed and allows to increase it. I haven't tried to increase the speed in BIOS - not sure if it will toast it - needs to do the research first.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. We can surely help you achieve the rated specifications of the RAM. For that motherboard and CPU, you will need to enable the XMP Profile in BIOS, or manually input DRAM frequency, timings, and voltage. This memory is above standard, so it can not AUTO default to the performance values. Once the proper settings are input, the memory will be fast and stable in your computer. Configuring memory settings to the rated values of this RAM will not harm the system, but if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

2 out of 5 eggs4 dimms + UD5H required higher voltage

Pros: Very inexpensive, low-profile (fits under NH-D14 heatsink), awesome Newegg service

Cons: At stock frequency and voltage on my UD5H+3700K I get about one single-bit memory error on memtest86+ per 4 hours of test execution when using all 4 DIMMs. Each DIMM individually and in dual-channel pairs ran fine in any of the UD5H's DIMM slots, so it appears to be an electrical loading issue. It's hard to know if the problem is the memory or the motherboard or a combination of the two, since even subtractive analysis using other model DIMMs wouldn't be conclusive. I was able to eliminate the errors by slightly increasing the Vtt and IMC voltage on my UD5H (BIOS setup). I decided to increase the voltage further still just to have extra margin - I increased CPU Vtt from 1.050V to 1.180V and IMC from 0.925V to 1.175V, both are which are at the upper bounds of Intel's recommendations for the Z77 chipset.

Other Thoughts: Can't say enough about Newegg service. When I first hit the errors I required an RMA plus a cross-ship (pre-charged). The price of the DIMMs had gone up but Newegg agreed to cross-ship at the discounted price. In the end I decided to keep the original set once the increased mobo voltage resolved the problem.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear you were able to get the memory working properly. Depending on motherboard and CPU used, a slight voltage increase may be necessary to stabilize full slots of memory. The added load can be very stressful to the CPU memory controller, so commonly an voltage boost is needed to stabilize. With sufficient voltage, the system should be nice and stable. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: High capacity, fairly low profile heat spreaders. Fits underneath a Noctua DH-14! 64GB in 8 DIMMs...oooeeee.

Cons: didn't make me a sammich.

Other Thoughts: I installed 2 of these 32GB kits in an ASUS P9X79 WS, with an Intel i7-3930k. On first boot, memory was being shown as 1333. Manually setting to 1600 did the trick...at first. Once windows was installed, capacity was being shown as 49GB and 3 "abnormal" sticks in asus BIOS memory utility. After updating the BIOS and re-selecting XMP, all memory is recognized at 1600 10-10-10-30, and passes memtest 86+

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. With 64GB of DDR3-1600, your computer should be capable of anything you put to it. This memory kit is above standard, which is why XMP is required for the system to be configured properly. With the proper settings, the computer should be fast and stable. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.
