5 out of 5 eggsGOOD MEMORY KIT

Pros: WORKED OUT OF THE VERY NICE BOX AND TIMED ITSELF WITH THE XMP PROFILE.

Cons: NONE.

Other Thoughts: RUNNING A 16GB RAM DISK AND HAVE VIRTUAL MEMORY IN THE "AUTOMATICALLY MANAGE PAGING FILE SIZE FOR ALL DRIVES" MODE WHICH ALLOCATES ALL 32GB FOR PAGING FILE. INSTALLED ON AN ASRock X79 EXTREME6 WITH WINDOWS 8 PRO.

5 out of 5 eggsHelp suggestion

Pros: GSkill makes some of the best and fastest performance and gaming memory there is. all these people one egging their products must not have the patience to tweak their bios settings.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: While I do not own this particular memory module from GSkill, my dad and I have been using their memory for a couple years now. For all of those people having issues getting it to run at the rated speeds, go to the overclocking threads in GSkill's support forum and the people there will get you up and running at rated speeds quickly.

1 out of 5 eggsExpensive cr@p!

Pros: Nice looking

Cons: Will not run stable on Asus X79 Sabertooth motherboard yet is listed on QVL list from Asus AND the heat sink fans are too wide and will not fit on the motherboard. Great engineering! What good does it do to have high performance memory that you can overclock if you can’t even install the cooling fans?

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We can surely help you achieve the rated specifications of the RAM. But first, please refer to our list of qualified motherboards: http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=452

With a motherboard on the list and an Intel i7-3930K, i7-3960X, or i7-3970X CPU, you should have absolutely no issues reaching the rated specifications of the RAM. This is one of the best memory kits on the market for the X79 platform. As a result, only the best hardware is able to support it. With regards to the fans, they are not absolutely necessary even for DDR3-2400. The high quality chips will remain very cool under any situation, but it is nice to keep them cooler than usual. Once you have everything configured properly, you will be very pleased performance result. For any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work for me

Pros: Came with some cool fans.

Cons: On Newegg the item page states the following:

"Certified on ASUS Intel X79-based motherboards"

Well it is not certified on the Asus Rampage 4 Extreme which is in fact a X79 based motherboard. I get overclock errors if I set the memory past 1333. So now I have to return this and find something else.

I couldn't figure out why I kept getting the error until I dug further into G.Skill's website and found that they don't mark it as compatible with all X79 boards.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We will be glad to assist you. This memory kit is indeed compatible with the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard. The memory was released before the motherboard, so this particular model may not be listed. When experiencing errors, test each module with XMP enabled to see if one may be bad causing problems. Each memory module should run to specification on its own. If one performs differently, send the memory in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work better. Also, check that you have the latest BIOS/EFI for the motherboard as that may improve compatibility. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly. The G.Skill support team will make sure 32GB of DDR3-2400 is working fast and stable in your computer.

1 out of 5 eggswont run at speed

Pros: stays very cool

Cons: will not run at rated speed at all

running this in an asus sabertooth x79 and a 3930k intel and 32 gigs of this ram and it will not set to right speed at all

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having issues. This is Extreme RAM so it is not as simple as plug and play. For any performance RAM, you must manually configure settings, or enable the XMP Profile in BIOS/EFI. The memory will not automatically default to rated values with AUTO settings. DRAM Frequency needs to be set to DDR3-2400, DRAM Timings tCL 10 - tRCD 12 - tRP 12 - tRAS 31, DRAM Voltage 1.65V, VCCSA Voltage 1.25V. With the correct settings, the memory will run at the right speed without a problem. Please contact the G.Skill technical support team for assistance. They will make sure the memory is running fast and stable in your computer.

Below is a guide to configure settings BIOS/EFI settings with this motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggscant get it to run at rated speed

Pros: very nice ram stays kool

Cons: will not run at rated speed in an asus sabertooth x79 intel 3930 chip at all not sure why but it is in the qvl

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We can surely help you reach the rated specifications of the RAM. First, always make sure you have the latest BIOS/EFI for the motherboard. Next, go into BIOS/EFI and enable XMP Profile under Extreme Tweaker > AI Overclock Tuner. This allows the motherboard to automatically detect and configure memory settings. Once this is done, look at the XMP profile and double check the motherboard automatically changed each necessary setting. If not, you can manually input them. F10, save, exit, and see how that works.

Should problem persist, test each module to see if one may be bad causing problems. Each memory stick should work flawlessly with the XMP Profile enabled. For all further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly. The G.Skill support team will make sure the RAM is woking fast and stable in your computer. For your convenience, I have attached links below to some special guides that you may find very useful.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product.

Pros: This RAM has excellent timing characteristics, and performs very well with my new ASUS P7X80 XMP settings. While I was not able to use both fans included to cool the RAM, the one I did manage to have clearance for fit nicely and does a good job. They are not loud to me at all. I am using a CM HAF932 Advanced case, so perhaps that is why I do not hear them?

Cons: I have absolutely nothing to list here as far as any cons are concerned. Price? Absolutely not. You get what you pay for. Period.

Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research on my P9X79 Pro before selecting the RAM for it. My research seemed to indicate for the best system performance for this motherboard is the Ripjaws Z Series. I was a little hesitant to install 32 gigs at first, but I am glad I did it. The main reason was for drive caching. I use 8 gigs to cache an Intel 520 240g Series SSD for my operating system and primary applications. All I can say is WOW! What a difference it has made.

4 out of 5 eggsF3-19200CL10Q-32GBZH

Pros: I have not had a blue screen since I have installed this memory...Pricey, but solved the problems I was having.

Cons: I have only been able to get it to run @1735 GHZ, It claims it can run upto 2400ghz. But it has jucied up my 8 core processor to 4.3ghz,,,windows experiance to 7.7 , 7.8 if i change my video settings.

Other Thoughts: My system is amd fx8350 prosessor..in a sabertooth 990 fx r2.0 water cooled...not sure why this memory won't run to spec, but have not had time to contact Gskill yet.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. Reaching DDR3-2400 depends on your overclocking ability. It is not easy to achieve such high frequency on any system. For this CPU, you will need to boost the CPU-NB Voltage to stabilize the CPU memory controller. AMD recommends two modules of DDR3-1866 max, you are attempting 4 modules of DDR3-2400, so it is definitely a difficult task that is not feasible by any average system builder. If you are not very familiar, it is highly advised to do some reading and research prior to attempting, as that would give you a much better idea of what is needed to stabilize the system. With regards to pricing, it is slightly higher than average, but the above average performance is unrivaled by any other brand. Should you need any further assistance, feel free to contact the G.Skill technical support team. They will make sure the RAM is working fast and stable in your computer.
