5 out of 5 eggsRunning with 5800K APU

Pros: Works at rated Specs. Easy to set as XMP profile. Does not sizzle or radiate great heat. Regular Heatsinks, I like the no frill look, nothing large to get in the way of other components, think CPU cooler.

Cons: negative

Other Thoughts: Running with 5800K APU OC to 4.1Ghz. Also have Hybrid XFIRE with HD 6670 GDDR5 Card. Holds up on good enouhg to play settings, makes my 360 look week. Coupled with high performance SDD this machine is snappy. Have NB to 2100Mhz.

5 out of 5 eggsLow pro, way to go

Pros: This was the only RAM that would fit in my mini-ITX case with any capable CPU heatsink. No giant fins on top, and heat is no where near an issue at with these... There is no sacrifice in choosing these and I wish every stick of RAM would have low heatsinks and good specs like these.

Cons: RAM is more expensive than when it was really cheap. This is no exception.

Other Thoughts: They're blue obviously. If you're building a color coded build this would be a thing.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns at listed specs with XMP

Pros: I put them in and they ran fine. A few days later I turned on XMP and they run at specs listed that they are supposed to.

I ran win 7 mem test on them for 24 hours and found no errors.

Low profile so they don't touch my CPU cooler.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I put them in this board: GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H

Using a A10-6800k APU.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Memory for an APU System.

Pros: These can be overclocked to 2400mhz with the right motherboard. That makes them some of the fastest memory for the price.

Part of the reason my APU system works so well is because of these. They really help push the most out of the system.

Cons: Nothing yet.

Other Thoughts: To overclock these, you have to go into the Bios. It isn't really that hard, but it easy to overlook. You also have to have the right motherboard to use these at their highest settings.

4 out of 5 eggsIssues getting all the speed out of it

Pros: Great looking RAM
Really fast for the speed
Great for gaming and video encoding.

Cons: They are still extremely fast but Its a pain I'm not getting what I paid for.

Other Thoughts: I've been the owner of these chips for a few months now and love them. But my Maximus IV keeps having to revert them down to 1866. I've tried putting the XMP speed to 2133 but it keeps failing when windows boots up.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you like the appearance of the RAM and it is working well in your system. This high speed RAM is definitely great for gaming and video encoding. A high RAM frequency allows for a greater overall bandwidth, so it can be extremely beneficial especially when dealing with large video files. If you have problems reaching the rated specifications, don't worry, contact us directly and we will be more than glad to help. Provide your hardware details and we will make sure the RAM operates at optimal performance.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsworks with proper xmp profile setting

Pros: Even though I had to manually go into bios and set my XMP profile to allow for advertised speeds these run very nicely and don't heat up much even under heavy loads.

Cons: For those without knowledge of XMP profiles and how to set them these could be tricky to get advertised speeds from. My knowledge of this helped out so I'm not taking an egg for this.

4 out of 5 eggsFailing after 2Mo. Will buy again.

Pros: Short, pretty blue, fast. Asus m5a97,
AMD FX-4170 @ 4.2-5GHz, 2 Pairs of G.SKILL Ares 16GB @ 2133. Can handle anything I throw at it.

Cons: 1 pair refused to run above 1600 after 2 months of use. Hardware Errors, BSOD... Tried changing every setting and reverting to old/new firmware.

Other Thoughts: Ram would only work @ 1866 until I updated the BIOS to 1503. Older identical pair still works @ 2133. I keep my system in front of AC vent for extra cooling.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the Ares series is working fast in your AMD build. With 16GB of DDR3-2133, your computer should be capable of anything you put to it. All G.Skill memory kits are backed by a lifetime warranty, so if you have a problem with a kit, feel free to send it in for RMA exchange. We can have a new replacement sent to you immediately. Also, for future reference, it is best to use a single kit of memory rather than two separate kits. Performance and compatibility should be much better. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you
