5 out of 5 eggs1866

Pros: This is great ram for the 990 chipset

Cons: no cons if you know whats going on with it.

Other Thoughts: Remember that it is dual channel, so if your getting a 666 that means its running at 1333. Doesnt mean its of the devil. You want it to read 933. What ever speccy or cpu-z or what ever you use tells you times it by two. You may also need to set the timings and voltage in the bios to get its full potential. Always check your MOBO recommendations and know what ram works best with your rig, a higher number isent always the best if your rig is designed for a particular speed.

5 out of 5 eggsFalwless!!

Pros: Plug and play.
Price was $120.00 On black Friday last year (please run that sale again- I promise I'll buy more).
It looks good, runs at 1866 no problem (XMP), and it's 32GB.
What's not to love?

Cons: The only con I can think of is that I didn't buy more when it was on sale.

Other Thoughts: I put this RAM in an ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 motherboard with an i5-3570, a GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 670, an Intel 240GB SSD, 2X WD Blue 1TB HDD's, a FSP Group AURUM GOLD 750W (also bought during Black November for $100) and a Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 (Gunmetal) and the whole setup runs beautifully.

Black November is coming- save your pennies.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. We can surely help you reach the rated specifications of the RAM. You purchased a compatible motherboard and CPU, so it will have no problem at all. DDR3-1333 is the standard boot up value, but once you enable the DOCP/EOCP performance profile, or manually input basic DRAM settings in BIOS, the system will run at full speed. Here is our guide:

http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=11742

Since this is a 32GB kit that will fill up all the slots, that can commonly overstress the CPU memory controller. Make sure to raise the CPU-NB Voltage +0.15V or so to stabilize the CPU. AMD technically only supports 2 modules of DDR3-1866, but if you make the mentioned change, it will have no problem with 4 modules at the high performance DDR3-1866 speed. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly. We can make sure the RAM is fast and stable in your computer.

Thank you

3 out of 5 eggsWorks But....

Pros: Memory works great. Stable and gets the job done (albeit slow). Looks good (aesthetically).

Cons: Can't get it to run @ 1866. XMP Profile 1 and Profile 2 both cause failure to boot. Using GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard. Currently running at PC3-10700 / 667 MHz and won't go any higher without crashing.

Other Thoughts: The memory works fine at low settings - enough to get everything I need done (using 32GB of memory). However, it wasn't what was advertised. Unfortunately, I only have one computer and I HAVE to have it for school so I see no way I can RMA (unfortunately) as it'd require my comp to be MIA for awhile. Sigh.

Dear Customer

Glad to hear you think the memory looks good and the memory works great. We can surely help you reach the rated specifications of the RAM, that is no problem at all. It is not a problem with the RAM; the memory is above standard, so manual BIOS configuration is required. Without the proper settings, the system may be unstable and the memory may seem defective. You have the right idea in enabling the XMP Profile, but in addition, you must raise CPU-NB Voltage +0.10 to +0.15V to stabilize the CPU memory controller. AMD CPUs can not natively support full slots of DDR3-1866, so a voltage boost is necessary to stabilize the CPU memory controller. Once you do that, the computer will be able to run very fast and stable. For any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly. The G.Skill support team is always readily available to assist you.

4 out of 5 eggsCant Get it to read 1866

Pros: Works Great

Cons: Cant get 1866

Other Thoughts: I tryed to enable XMP on my Asus Maximus V Extreme and System wont boot. Cant figure it out. Thought I could enable XMP and boom got my 1866 nope can only get it to read at 1333

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. We can surely help you achieve the rated specifications of the RAM. Test each module with XMP enabled to make sure each can run at DDR3-1866 CL10. If so, they should work fine together. If a module performs differently, send the memory in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work better. Also, make sure you have the latest BIOS/EFI for the motherboard. The motherboard is indeed compatible and capable of this memory kit, so as long as you have a good CPU, everything should be nice and stable with XMP enabled. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly. We will make sure the RAM works at maximum performance as it is designed to do.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing at best

Pros: Looks bad, easy install.

Cons: My Gigabyte mb would not ever get the 1866 clocking this ram promised. I read many others with same issues. It also reads it as 32GB RAM, 16 useable. Where is the other 16GB's? Been on G.Skill's forum and customer service many, many times seeking assistance and very little if anything recommended worked. I don't have the time to play around hoping to find a working solution. After adjusting this and that in the BIOS start-up, as was suggested, the G.SKILL still froze several times, requiring a total re-boot. I took out the G.SKILL ram and put the Vengeance 16GB ram BACK, and it got faster, and it is 1600. A lot more stable too.

Other Thoughts: I now wish I would have used that money to upgrade my video card like I had intended to do. I bought this ram as it dropped in price, and now see why. I am not the most "techy" guy, but I can usually figure out and fix anything that has come up so far. I checked for compatibility with my mb and this ram, and everything I found said they will work together. I think that may have not been quite correct. The ram I re-installed was recognized as soon as I booted it up the first time, why not G.SKILL? I will buy what I know works and I learned a pricey lesson here. This is the first item I have ever given a negative review for on the "egg. I really hope it is the last.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. Please contact the G.Skill support team and they will be more than glad to show you how to get the system working fast and stable. This memory kit is much above standard, which is why it does not automatically recognize and boot at rated specifications. The enhanced performance profile needs to be enabled if your motherboard supports it. As far as the RAM showing only 16GB useable, you may have Windows 7 Home Premium. This versions can only address up to 16GB of RAM, you must upgrade to Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate, or Win 8, to fully utilize all 32GB. This memory should work extremely well in your Gigabyte motherboard. For all questions and issues, feel free to contact us and we can help you directly. G.Skill is never disappointing.
