Overview
It's Not the Fastest, Until It's TridentX!
Memory Frequency World Record at DDR3 4404MHz
TridentXBreaking the highest DDR3 speed world record at a staggering 4404MHzMHz in 2012, the G.SKILL TridentX series is known as the world's most powerful and fastest DDR3 memory available on the market. Named after the powerful weapon of Poseidon, Greek God of the Seas, G.SKILL TridentX is imbued with extreme overclocking capabilities waiting to be unleashed in your system.
Removable Heat Spreader Fin
The G.SKILL TridentX series features a removable heat spreader fin to improve your cooling options. With the heat spreader fin, the increased surface area keeps the memory cooler. Alternatively, with a system that already has a sufficient cooling solution, the fins can be removed to accommodate massive CPU coolers or other customized cooling solutions.

The G.SKILL TridentX heat-spreader comes with removable top fin design. It allows overclocking enthusiasts to have more flexible options of memory cooling systems, as well as to reduce the height to fit with large CPU coolers.

Extreme Performance
Extreme overclockers and PC enthusiasts look no further, G.SKILL's TridentX DDR3 memory will push your system to an unimaginable limit. Not only available at ultra high frequencies of 2400MHz, 2600MHz, 2666MHz, 2800MHz and 3000MHz, but also available with extremely low timings at 2133MHz CL9, 1866MHz CL8, and 1600MHz CL7!
Intel XMP Support
TridentX All G.SKILL DDR3 memory comes with the latest Intel XMP standard developed for the Intel platform. It provides PC enthusiasts an entirely trouble-free overclocking experience to boost their 4th Gen Intel® Core™ processors with Intel 8 series systems for extreme levels of performance, while retaining system stability.

Lifetime Warranty
All G.SKILL memory products come with a lifetime warranty and the G.SKILL technical team is always ready to provide consumers with complete technical support via online forums, telephone, and email.

TridentX Editor's Choice at Techpowerup
If you follow my posts on the forums, you'll find that I consider myself one of Corsair's biggest fans, but those feelings were thrown completely out of whack when I received this kit from G.Skill. The G.Skill F3-2666C11Q-16GTXD kit managed to completely amaze me with its quality and clocking ability, and I fell in love after checking its price. You cannot find a 4 x 4GB 2666MHz kit for less right now unless it's been put on sale. This kit manages to overcome any performance deficiencies with flexibility and great overhead. At stock, I managed to beat out my trusty Corsair Dominator Platinum kit with a little bit of tweaking. Overclocked, the G.Skill F3-2666C11Q-16GTXD kit managed to go just as high without a boost in voltage. That is just outright fantastic.

TridentXEditor's Choice at Neoseeker
G. Skill's 2400 MHz Trident X kit put on an impressive display of performance, easily overcoming the competition in all but four of the benchmarks used. Unfortunately, the memory was bottlenecked by the processor -- limiting the overclock to a 104 bclk and leaving us with a final overclock of 2218MHz and timings of 10-12-12-31 2T. Paired with a 3rd generation Intel processor, G. Skill's 2400 MHz Trident X kit would have benefited greatly from the increased bandwidth and has the potential to hit 2500MHz with some fine tuning.

TridentXGold Award at OverClockersClub
G.Skill's Trident X line-up comes with kits that range from the 2400MHz kit we are looking at to a 2800MHz kit for massive memory speeds and the associated bandwidth that is a hallmark of higher speed bins. It seems that G.Skill is most definitely targeting the budget overclocker with this set of Trident X modules. A $99 price tag for 2400MHz-rated modules is a welcome sight after seeing huge price tags just a few months back for cas8 and 9 modules binned above 2133MHz. The Trident X are modules that perform well and deliver some overhead for a little bit more tweaking and come with G.Skill's lifetime warranty. Excellent looks aside, the Trident X would make a good addition to any system and have the flexibility to be cooled in multiple ways.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ram

Pros: need not to say; there's already a whole bunch of reviews

Cons: nothing

Other Thoughts: bought this one for update, I already had one unit for 2 years.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised.

Pros: My Wife bought this product for me to increase performance in open world games and she go her money's worth! (5-7 minimum FPS increase in Fallout 4.)

- Works as advertised in my MSI Z87 GD65-gaming motherboard @ 10 cas 2400mhz XMP profile 1.
- Higher quality DIMM
- Overclocking headroom
- Matches my red and black motherboard.
- Keeps cool with excellent detachable heatspreaders that have slots for aftermarket coolers or more room for CPU cooler.

Cons: - Nothing

Other Thoughts: - If you have a Haswell or Haswell-E CPU, I highly recommend this product for anyone and especially to overclockers.

*Make sure your motherboard is compatible with this product on the G.Skill memory page. Trident X will work in nearly all medium to high end Z87-Z97 chipsets.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome memory!

Pros: I've been using 8gb of this memory for over 2 years now, and it has been running without a hitch! Just recently purchased another 8 gigs to bring me up to 16 and it couldn't be better. Very fast, reliable ram.

Cons: None that I could find.

Other Thoughts: I removed the heatsink on my models because it clashed slightly with the gold on my Asus Z97 Pro board, and the ram has been running fine with a mild overclock without it. I think it's really only there for aesthetics. No harm, no foul though, because it's really easy to remove or reattach later if I change my mind.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome memory. Love G. Skill!

Pros: This memory is great. I upgraded from Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB kit at 2133mhz to this, and I bought 2 kits for 16gb. I knew going into it that XMP was not going to work, and manual settings were going to have to be set. It was very easy to do with my Asus Maximus VI Hero Z87 and 4770k. Just went to the SPD Information section in the bios and then set the timings manually to match what was under XMP Profile 2 and set DRAM voltage to 1.65 and System Agent to 1.06v and it has been stable as a rock. Can finally play Star Wars Battlefront without my system memory being maxed out. And it is a bit snappier during general use due to the 4 sticks used instead of 2 which makes things a little bit faster overall according to some tests ive done. Increase of about 1500mb/s in the AIDA cache and memory benchmark with 4 sticks vs 2. The memory looks beautiful in my Red white and black themed rig. Overall this is fantastic memory, I have always bought memory from G. Skill for my personal builds other than the one time I bought Corsair Dominator Platinums, and G. Skill memory has always been solid. Not a single problem.

Cons: Nothing so far.

Other Thoughts: If your motherboard does not have a SPD section in the BIOS that shows the important timings youll need to set, you will have to figure it out yourself. This is assuming you get 2 of these kits. It is not very hard and make sure you bump your system agent voltage to around 1.0v.

5 out of 5 eggsEverything promised!

Pros: Runs great right out of the box. I'm currently running 4 sticks of this with EVGA Z87 FTW (141-HW-E877-KR) LGA 1150 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard. No problems, runs awesome. Had to remove a head sink on one of them to get it to fit under the CPU cooler, but this is a very specific circumstance - probably not widely experienced and reflects more on mobo design and size of CPU heat sink.

Cons: none so far! Everything worked as intended.

5 out of 5 eggsNice fast DDR3 low latency RAM

Pros: Fast, Affordable, low latency I've no problems running this with my A10 7870K. Just keep in mind I had to change the speed from auto to XMP profile 1 because auto would run it at 1600mhz but woth the XMP profile it runs at full speed, 2400mhz. It depends on your mobo though. My mobo has a max speed of 2400mhz. Didn't need to remove heatspreader but it slides off perfectly if you need it in your build.

Cons: Very high but you can take off heatspreader for reduced cooling. Hurts your finger when you insert the RAM since the heatspreader is pointed and when you push in the RAM the top of the heatspreader goes into your finger. Nothing to bad its not like a knife but it might make it hard to insert the RAM.

Other Thoughts: More affordable than other options. Also come with sticker!

5 out of 5 eggsBest ram you can buy.

Pros: Fast timings, low latency, and high frequencies.
Excellent voltage tolerance
High overclock capabilities.
Beautiful Design.

Cons: Not really a con as long as you are aware of what you are getting, but the heat spreader is very tall...Just be sure that you check your system dimensions if you are running a large air cooler cause these may not fit without either removing the top portion of the heat spreader ( a simple screw does the job) or running liquid cooling...but if you are looking at this level of performance from your ram, then you should already know what you are getting into.

Other Thoughts: I am a custom system builder and have well over 5,000 systems and 20+ years experience under my belt. I have used ram from almost any company that you can imagine. From cheap home system builds to 5 figure dream systems, G.Skill is my go to company. When extreme performance, exacting tolerances, and lifecycle, are not an option but a necessity you will not find a better product. That is why in my own personal systems I exclusively use G.Skill and see no reason to change. There are competitive products, Corsiar Dominator Platinum , A-Data XPG, Mushkin Redline, ect... and these are all good products, but when you compare the price of these companies high end product choices to G.Skills, your decision will be simple.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Ram

Pros: This Ram is fast. It does a great job running at 2400 with one set. Had to drop it down a notch once I added a second set. Overall you won't notice a difference. I recommend it.

Cons: The heatsinks are an added bonus. Keeps them cool.

Other Thoughts: My only issue is trying to get a good low profile heatsink for my cpu that is compatible with the Ram. I currently have these in a HTPC build with a low case...may have to remove heatsink on Ram. If you guys know of a good low profile CPU cooler let me know. My build is in a nMediaPC HTPC 2800B ATX case.

2 out of 5 eggsOverated, Overpriced Ram

Pros: Heatskinks seem to work. Though never really truly tested as rated 2400mhz never achieved.

Cons: 2X4gb Kit. JEDEC Specs as tested different from dimm 1 to dimm 2. System would not post with in dual channel mode (both dimms installed) in motherboard recommended dimm slots and or other dual channel slots.

Dimm 1 stable at SPD 1600mhz. Dimm 2 rarely stable at any specs. utilized motherboard feature to load failsafe memory settings and most of the time settings were at 1033 or 1600mhz.

Enabled XMP/DOCP and or Manual settings to adjust timings and voltages to attempt to acheive 2400mhz rated specs; system wouldn't post or would crash.

Motherboard LED codes = memory related errors.

JEDEC SPD specs different for both dimms.

Dimm 2 defective. System wouldn't post most of the time or if used motherboard failsafe memory diagnostic feature to recover safe settings often resulted in 1033 or 1600mhz. System would crash even with recovered failsafe settings.

Tested Dimms using different diagnostic test dimm 1 passed at SPD 1600mhz never at 2400mhz. Dimm 2 crashed system.

I had a IT Tech acquaintance work on the system and yielded same results. Many hours wasted testing individual dimms, dual dimms, different motherboard dimm slots. Same failed results.

Other Thoughts: If you are a new DIY or lack overclocking knowledge for just replacing or upgrading your ram look somewhere else. I have placed more credence on reviews rather than G.SKill's tech support who stated most problems are due to individuals that don't have the experience in applying correct memory timing/settings and or tweaking voltages to achieve specified 2400mhz rated specs. "This is our best PC 19200 kit and best available in the market."

My experience, wasted time and money dictate otherwise. Should have stayed with other trusted brand used for 15 years.

5 out of 5 eggsF3-2400C10D-8GTX

Pros: I put 2kits in my ASUS AMD fm2+ motherboard and it booted right up.

Cons: I didn't see the reviews where G-Skill tech support states it will not run at 2400 if you install 2 kits.

Other Thoughts: ASUS recommended this RAM for my motherboard
