4 out of 5 eggsMy first SSD!

Pros: -Very fast
-Low power use!
-Small enough to use in most laptops.
-Stays cool! (I have touched it after a heavy load and it does not sizzle my finger at all.)
-Very easy to install as most hardrives/SSDs are.

Cons: Price (When I purchased it - it has went down a good amount since then.)

Other Thoughts: I had this in my desktop before my desktop (even in my desktop it was a force to be reckoned with) decided to fry and moved this SSD to my laptop which increased the speed of it by a noticeable amount and the laptop is by far not bad it's just not gamer grade but still runs a lot of games flawlessly in load times because of this good SSD. The one egg for price is probably me being a nitpick but still valid for my own personal review. For my first SSD I'm glad I decided to use G.Skill like I have been using for Memory for quite a while and am still not disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: None

Cons: Had to RMA first one worked about 10 minutes and just stopped. Second one would not overclock any processors I had no matter what settings were on or off. Phenom ii x4 980, FX 8350, and Athlon ii x2 240e, Cpu 0 overclocked and the others either stayed at stock speed or fluctuated from 1300 mhz to stock. Bios update did not fix nor did turning off all the power saving and boost modes.

Other Thoughts: If I had it to do over again I would have went with ASROCK or ASUS, Gigabyte is way too overrated.

Cons: Purchased 59 days ago and its dead. I have an image of the boot disk and put the WD Black back in.

Other Thoughts: Next step is to see how G.Skill deals with the warranty return

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent SSD!

Pros: Speed, ease of installation, Speed, and Speed lol.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My macbook pro HD crashed 5 days ago, i spent two researching and deciding which ssd to go with since i knew thats where the tech is headed i might as well jump in now.

Long story short my gut told me go with this one and i am glad i did. It took 45 minuted between swapping out hd's and a clean install of mac os. After all the updates this thing is like its supercharged. It turns on and is ready in under 10 seconds.

I ordered 8gb of ram too that isnt here yet, cant wait to see what this mac will do when I add that.

I will update in a few weeks to see if the performance is still where its at.

5 out of 5 eggsGlad with my purchase, good job G.skill!

Pros: Affordable
Fast
(Comes with 2.5 -> 3.5 adapter bracket.)

A good all-around deal for a quality SSD.

Cons: There's a firmware update!

I have an AMD-based system, and I had to temporarily revert to the (older) original Microsoft AHCI drivers to install them properly. The actual process wasn't that difficult, but still an inconvenience that could be daunting to those who are not familiar.

Other Thoughts: There is a lot to say about making the move to purchase a SSD. Any upgrade to a SSD over your standard hard drive is going to be an upgrade, with a noticeable increase in performance.

I have worked hard to justify spending the extra cash to buy a SSD, and I am pretty happy to say I don't feel like I wasted my money on the replacement drive. I bought a new rig last year, and I decided I needed an upgrade from the aging, but stalwart, 5400rpm 160gb Western Digital I had. (Salvaged from my previous computer, which suffered a motherboard malfunction after warranty.)

I have ran some benchmarking tests, and was pleased to discover that my drive actually could achieve up to the maximums advertised. (I am using the latest AMD AHCI drivers, which, for me, work better than the Microsoft drivers - I ran the benchmarks using both.) My WEI, not that it means anything, is at 7.9. Real-world tests are tricky, and far more subjective, but the improved speed over a standard hard-drive is definitely noticeable. My computer routinely boots up in roughly twenty seconds, and load times are a magnitude faster across the board. Overall productivity is up, and it's nice to have really quick level load times to brag about when it becomes time to relax and play some games.

I am not an enthusiast gamer, but a lot of what I do in life revolves around the computer. Whether it's research, making power-points, or playing the occasional game, I want to get the most out of my system and have it age well in the coming years. I don't need terabytes of space to store volumes Hi-Def movies, or whatnot, so a 240 gigabyte limit is more than sufficient for me. The speed is great, and actually a bit spoiling. There are faster SSDs out there, but if speed is your only concern, get a PCI-e slot SSD, which are yet another magnitude more fast. In either case, you'll pay the premium price.

Overall, I chose G.skill because of the space and performance offered at the cost fit the bill nicely. G.skill is a reliable, quality brand name when it comes to memory, and I am glad they make good hard-drives as well.
