3 out of 5 eggsCompatibility a problem

Pros: Hard to say.

Cons: This memory appears to be incompatible with Gigabyte Intel 8 series motherboards. If either strip is installed in any slot the board won't even POST. Tried with several known good boards. H81M & B85M series.

Other Thoughts: It could be that both strips are just bad but seems somewhat unlikely.

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. This memory kit should work well in any Intel third generation chip set. In fact, it should be easy plug and play performance. Check to see if you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard. To determine whether it may be an issue with RAM, test one module at a time to see if one can work properly. Should the problem persist, please contact the G.Skill support team directly for assistance.

Thank you

2 out of 5 eggsI wanted to love these...

Pros: Arrived on time.

Cons: DOA. I am building for a friend which I know works cause I took the RAM that is working from my personal build to make sure both slots were functional.

I popped the first stick of RAM into the first slot. BSOD. Okay...let's try putting it in the other slot. BSOD. Alright...I guess that stick is dead maybe the other one works and I'll just have to have the computer limping on 4GB of RAM. Try the second stick in the first slot. BSOD. I don't like where this is going. Try the second slot. BSOD. Maybe somehow the computer got fried let's try the RAM in my computer. No dice...

Other Thoughts: I really want to like G. Skill. I've never given them a shot since I always found some other company that did the job for less money. I figured I'd give G. Skill a run since their prices aren't bad and I always hear good things about them. Both RAM sticks dead though? A little disappointed.

Also I'm just gonna toot my extremely tiny horn a little bit. I have built a handful of computers without issues. Which also had the unfortunate effect of people always calling me out of the blue cause "Hey how are you?...Cool, so my computer..." So it's not like I have no idea what I was doing and trying to jam the RAM into a PCI slot or anything like that. Now does that mean I'm the best builder around? Of course not. Does that also mean that every part that I buy will never be defective? Again of course not. But I think a part of me never, up until now, had the issue of "this and that came DOA" So I was a bit upset initially and was upset with G. Skill. I've RMA'd the RAM and I'm hoping for the best.

Dear Customer

We will be glad to help with this issue. It is extremely unlikely for two modules to be defective on arrival. Please check you have the latest BIOS/UEFI for the mainboard. Also, confirm that the system can support single sided 4GB modules of DDR3-1600 CL11 1.50V. If the system is unstable to support one of these important specifications, the system can BSOD due to incompatibility. Should you need help to confirm, please contact the G.Skill support team with the model of the motherboard and CPU. With the correct G.Skill RAM for the system, the computer should be very fast and smooth.

Great timings and Performance for this price range.
Great Brand.
Recognized right away with correct timings in Asus H-81I Plus.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Great budget ram. If your in need of some great budget ram these are the ones to get. Great for low budget gaming builds and general desktop builds.

1 out of 5 eggsBoth Sticks Bad

Pros: Never had a problem with G.Skill before.

Cons: Both syicks are bad (nonfuncyional

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We will be glad to help with this issue. It is unlikely both modules are completely dead, it is impossible for them to pass quality control in that condition. When neither memory module can work individually, compatibility is a potential cause as well. First, make sure you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard. Next, contact the G.Skill support team directly to determine whether the RAM is compatible with the system. If not, we can recommend a model that can work properly so you have 8GB in your computer. For all further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know.

5 out of 5 eggsGood RAM

Pros: 8GB of DDR3 relatively cheap
OCs/tightens up very well

Cons: none... unless you really like heatspreaders

Other Thoughts: G.Skill has never done me wrong. Over the years I have tended towards thier budget lines and then OCed them, since they take it so well.

This kit is running 1866 at rated timings with no issues. My last G. Skill hit was DDR3-1333 and ran all day at 1600. Cant guarantee that of course, but I have never had G.Skill value RAM not OC really well. And this is no exception.

2 out of 5 eggsshould have read the other reviews better

Pros: Great price, and until one of the sticks died unexpectedly, great product.

Cons: After 3 months of average consumer usage (web browsing, e-mail, flash games, music ect..) One of the sticks died. Caused a lot of panic from the user at first. I thought I was getting a good product. I've been using G.Skill RAM for many years. perhaps it's time to move on.

Other Thoughts: Still have the computer running with one of the sticks. Though the user reports that (because RAM is now in single channel mode) computer is noticeably slower. Going to try to get an RMA from the website. But I'm not entirely sure I want this brand anymore.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Glad to hear you got the RAM at a great price and was working well in your system. It is odd a module has become defective, but don't worry, we can replace it right away. All G.Skill memory kits are backed by a manufacturer lifetime warranty, so at any time the RAM does not perform perfectly, we can send you a new one. Unfortunately, due to the nature of RAM, random defects can happen. But we are certain it is a one time mishap and the replacement will work much better. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free, so your computer can be back up to full speed in no time. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

3 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for.

Pros: The stick that works is what was advertised.
Easy installation.
Cheap.

Cons: One of the sticks were bad.

Other Thoughts: The module that was defective causes random BSOD errors and it took me hours to figure out the problem. I really don't want to RMA since I would not have a working computer since this ram was for a new build and waiting for the RMA would leave me too long without one. I will take the loss and move on since I decided to buy this cheap ram in the first place.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear you got the RAM at a good price and installation was easy. If a module is not working properly, feel free to send it in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work flawlessly. You can send the defective module only so you can keep your system running with the working module. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free, so your computer will be running at full speed with 8GB in no time. Visit the G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.
