3 out of 5 eggsNot bad, but scary

Pros: Very fast drive, stays cool, uses very little energy

Cons: Price is still far to high for its size, still no TRIM support, Win 7 64bit see's this drive as 119GB not 128GB

Other Thoughts: The main reason I only give this drive 3 eggs is because there have been a lot of failures and a freind had one that failed after only a month, but mine has been working for over a year, plus there still is no TRIM support for this drive.

2 out of 5 eggsFast but Unreliable

Pros: This drive is blazing fast and there is usually no stuttering.

Cons: This drive is UNRELIABLE! What a joke, why would you shell out this much for an ssd? For the speed and reliability. To my horror this drive failed after only about a year of regular use. I've never had a drive fail on me so fast. Don't be fooled about the Indilinx Barefoot controller, because although it doesn't stutter the drive will die or fail to boot up after only a year regular use. I'm not the only one with this problem! I learned the hard way to backup my info., thanks corsair for the life lesson.

Other Thoughts: I confirmed that the ssd is indeed what failed after testing it out in multiple systems and with multiple setting. I would recommend a different ssd or better yet, a 1 tb hdd. The reliability, price and storage capacity of a 1tb hdd versus this is well worth it. I also learned that a few games/programs aren't designed to run well with ssd's which is expected of relatively new technology. If you're a gamer, some games will freeze/stutter, which is much worse than lag! Take it from a tech enthusiast. Save yourself the heartache and trouble!

2 out of 5 eggsSeveral Dead Drives

Pros: Very fast, stutter free performance

Cons: Obviously has a problem with high failure rates.

Other Thoughts: I've been using corsair drives exclusively for myself and all of my clients systems needing ssd's. I've purchased extreme, nova, and performance series drives. It's troubling that I have just exceeded a 50% failure rate with the extreme series. Needless to say, I'm now sticking with the performance series. Something must be going on with these. I have experienced the failures with drives ordered at different times and installed in a variety of environments, so there doesn't seem to be any sort of pattern to the failures.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome drive!

Pros: Super fast as a boot drive. Seems to make my laptop battery life longer. No spinning parts.

Cons: No trim support yet.

Other Thoughts: Extremely fast hard drive! Windows 7 boots in about 12 secs. I was really undecided on which computer I should put it in, but I ended up putting it in my laptop, and I can say I would never go back to regular platter hard drives again!
My only complaint is that there is no support for TRIM yet, so I have to reimage my drive once in a while.

1 out of 5 eggsIn response to Corsair's TRIM support

Pros: This is the X-series, not the P series. The X-series does NOT support TRIM, the P-series does.

Cons: The firmware Corsair linked to in the feedback below links to the P-series firmware, which does NOT work with the X-series as it's a different controller. P-series = Samsung; X-series= Indilinx.

Other Thoughts: Whoever posted that the firmware has been there since 12/17 is totally incorrect. That firmware is for the P-series.

And as I already said, if this drive support TRIM, I would highly recommend it, however it does not.

Manufacturer Response:

My apologies to you. I misread the part number and only realized it after y post to you was was submitted. It cannot be edited.

As for the firmware, I expect an update very soon to provide full Windows 7 TRIM support. The current drives we are shipping have the new firmware with full Windows 7 TRIM support.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes NOT support TRIM

Pros: It's got all the right parts to be a great SSD..

Cons: It does not have TRIM, and Corsair has no idea when it will.

Other Thoughts: If you're buying an SSD, make sure you buy one that currently supports TRIM!

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy this drive -- Part 2

Pros: None.

Cons: It doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: The manufacturer speaks with forked tongue. His own service rep said the Extreme Series didn't work and said he would replace the extreme series with the normal drive. When I asked about my $70 refund (the difference in price between the two drives) he said basically "tough." Suffice, the new normal Corsair SSD works like a charm. I repeat: Do not buy the Extreme Series.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy this drive

Pros: Fast, when it works. But that's not often.

Cons: Do not buy this drive. I had to return mine to Corsair, who admitted they had major problems with their Extreme Series. They swapped my drive for the normal Corsair SSD, i.e. Samsung drive. It works perfectly.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry that you had an issue with the "X" series drive and are now satisfied with the "P" series. However, there is no major issue with the "X" series.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredibly fast

Pros: As others have said, incredibly fast. I use 2 of these in RAID 0 for my Windows 7 boot drive and if it weren't for the bios post time I think everything would load in 3 seconds. As they are now, the entire system takes 19-20 seconds to boot to the OS and ready to run a game. They're small, extremely light, they make no sound and they only take about 2 Watts! I really don't think you could tell the difference if you bought a drive that says it's faster.

Cons: If I had to list a con it would definitly be the price but you aren't going to find a similar spec'ed drive for much less.
