Replacing your hard disk with a Corsair Nova Series Solid State Drive (SSD) will revolutionize your computing experience. Games and applications load quicker, systems boot-up faster, run cooler and quieter. Lower power consumption will give notebooks/netbooks an extension to their battery life with the Nova Series.

Built on the Indilinx Barefoot controller, Corsair’s Nova Series deliver read speeds up to 270MB/s and write speeds up to 195MB/s, plus reliability and compatibility for your notebook, netbook, and desktop solid-state storage needs. Built-in 64MB of cache ensures smooth stutter-free operation for reliable performance. With storage capacities up to 128GB, a Nova Series model exists for your storage and performance needs.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Unlike traditional hard disk drives, SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in a quiet, cool, highly reliable storage solution that also offers faster application loading and system responsiveness. And for laptops and netbooks, the lower power needs of SSDs translate to extended battery life. Higher performance with more durability means you can be truly mobile with confidence.
  • newegg Better Performance & Reliability Utilizing the Indilinx Barefoot controller and Intel fast performance MLC NAND flash memory, the Nova Series solid-state drives deliver incredible performance and reliability. The Nova Series V64 comes with a maximum sequential read speed of 215 MB/s and maximum sequential write speed of 130 MB/s. In addition, integrated onboard 64MB cache ensures smooth operations.
  • newegg TRIM Support The Corsair Nova Series SSDs offer TRIM support than can be enabled in Windows 7. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSDs memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg Flexible use - 2.5" to 3.5" Adapter Included The Corsair Nova Series V64 is specifically designed for notebooks/netbooks coming in a 2.5-inch hard drive form factor. A 2.5" to 3.5" bracket is included for matching with 3.5” drive bay to extend the storage of your desktop computer.

3 out of 5 eggsFlawless when working

Pros: Functions as described. Respectable load times, low power consumption, stable. A very decent SSD for its time. After 16000+ hours of operation, still gets advertised speeds.

Cons: This SSD was immaculate for the first 18 months (or 13000 hours in my case, which is pretty much on 100% of the time). At that point, my HDD activity LED would become pegged for 3-4 seconds, and my computer would simply reboot.

Fast forward 4 months. Almost religiously, the SSD completely locks the computer up when waking up. It can be after 12 hours, or 12 days of inactivity.

tl;dr - the unit worked amazingly well, and I have no complaints about how it operated while it was actually functioning to specs. At this point, I'll be taking advantage of the 3-year warranty to grab myself another one.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't hesitate to buy the product again. 16138 power-on hours in 22.5 months of ownership is pretty much constant abuse, and it has held up, for the vast majority of that.

2 out of 5 eggseh good while it lasts

Pros: quick.

Cons: Didn't last long. been blue screening my pc for 10 months. Bad firmware? bairly any support on these.

Other Thoughts: I owned this SSD for 10 months and it had always given me some type of issue. every 3 weeks random blue screen. it The blue screen was hard drive related and it did it without any hds installed and it did it on my laptop troubleshooting when this was installed so Yes it was the SSD .... now the past week freeze ups restart and ssd wont detect. have to power off. im replacing it with a Kingston. i will never use this brand again.

4 out of 5 eggsgood drive, but

Pros: good drive, fairly reliable considering others fail only after few months

Cons: the SSD stopped working after a little over 2 years - unable to format etc. Currently waiting on Corsair to send a replacement drive.

1 out of 5 eggsWas good while it worked

Pros: Fast enough. Was a good drive for a little more then 9 months.

Cons: Died fast.
I am so sick of harddrives in general. This one only lasted 9+ months. I had hoped for much better off a SSD.

Other Thoughts: My 'luck' with hdd's is abysmal. I have a 75%+ fail rate on drives under 1 yr. They sit in desktops and don't move.
I was really looking forward to a drive with little room for mechanical failure. I set this ssd up to last: OS only, no SWAP or LOGS, or even CACHE gets written to it, just updates occasionally. Mostly the drive gets read from.... patheticly short lived and bust all my hopes for SSD's --- I can get a fairly quick usb flash drive and use them for OS as disposables for cheap.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ortango,

We're sorry to hear that your drive failed. Please fill out an RMA request on the Corsair Support page and we'll be more than happy to assist you.

Thank you,
Corsair Customer Support

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the money

Pros: SSD
light weight
fast (as expected from an SSD)

Cons: TONS of bad sectors on these drives. I bought two and have used one of them for around a year as the OS drive and it has 46828 offline uncorrectable sectors. Another that was used for less than a year has 10842 offline uncorrectable sectors. These #'s were discovered by the S.M.A.R.T. data pulled via SpeedFan.

Other Thoughts: Also, I bought these because they had mail-in rebates. I never got one of them. WIll not buy corsair SSd again...

2 out of 5 eggsNot so good after all

Pros: Fast, cool

Cons: Bought it Manufacturer Refurbished and have had it less than a year in my laptop, has about 1.7TB written on it and its health status according to SSDLife is about 15%. So, it is gradually dying. Unfortunately, as a refurbished drive it had only 90 days warranty and I cannot get a replacement, but man I thought that Corsair branded SSD could do better than 1.7TB in its lifespan.
Apparently, it was programmed by Corsair to live a short life.
Time to give a try to some other brand!

Other Thoughts: Have a 120GB Corsair Nova Series SSD and thought it could last me at least 3 years in my laptop. I guess I was wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsVery happy with this drive!

Pros: Low price (the time I bought it), easy set-up, no problem cloning and running the OS on my old drive (windows 7 x32 ultimate), very fast, and reliable.

Cons: I heard some electronic buzzing sound for some time when accessing the drive... Adjusting a setting regarding the hard drive in the bios solve that issue.

Other Thoughts: From Indilinx ssd status after 6 Month:

Firmware / Trim : 2.2 / True
Size: 59,621 GB
Health: 85%
Operation: 1077 Hours
Powered On: 608 Times
Cell Wearing: 799 Cycles
Read: 417,628 GB
Written: 454,361 GB

2 out of 5 eggsDrive Died - No Data Recovery Possible

Pros: Quick. Good performance. No compatibility issues.

Cons: Drive died. Would not even be seen by a BIOS. Tried on many computers, controllers, and cables. Sudden and complete failure. It has now been over a month since the drive failed and I have still be unable to get a replacement from Corsair! (They received my drive weeks ago and are still validating that it is failed...)
