There's fast, and then there's Force fast. Force Series 3 SSDs have even quicker read and write times when they're installed in PCs that use the latest SATA 3 interface. The Corsair Force Series 3 SSDs offer maximum performance for your ultimate system with up to a maximum read speed of 550 MB/s and a write speed of 510 MB/s, and max random 4K write of 85,000 IOPS. You'll be amazed at the improvement over traditional hard drive access times the first time you turn on your computer, and for virtually everything you do with your PC. System startup, application load times, data transfers, and even shutdown times are all faster. Also, your system will be more responsive with the Force Series 3 SSDs. Add up all the time you spend all day waiting for your computer — starting up, loading game levels, saving large files and documents — and it can be significant. Using a PC can be a lot more enjoyable when it's not always making you wait.

  • newegg SATA 3 Compliant Force Series 3 SSDs have even quicker read and write times when they're installed in PCs that use the latest SATA 6Gb/s interface. However, it is also backward compatible with SATA 3Gb/s.
  • newegg TRIM Support Force Series 3 SSDs feature support for the Windows 7 TRIM command, which allows them to store only the data they need and perform memory optimization to ensure the fastest possible write speeds.
  • newegg SSD Benefits - Cool and Quiet, with Low Power Consumption SSDs have no moving parts so they can handle shock, vibration and temperature changes far in excess of traditional hard drives. Also, there's no noise or vibration, and the lower power consumption helps keep things cool inside your PC thanks to this feature.
  • newegg 2.5” to 3.5" Adapter Included The 2.5" form factor allows for installation in most notebook PCs with no adapter required. If you're adding a Force Series 3 SSD to your desktop PC, use the included 3.5" adapter to mount it in any standard hard drive bay.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away!

Pros: SSD is fast when working.

Cons: Just stopped working after about 7 months of using it.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this SSD. Got myself a Crucial M4 and not looking back!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat with the latest firmware

Pros: Its just fast. 120gb is excellent size to have to OS and still have spare space for most programs. Silent. No problem installing.

Cons: It took about 9 months for them to fix the "disconnect" issue. What happened was that after a while of the system being idle the SSD would "turn off" and the sytem would crash and the BIOS would no longer read it. Had to turn off PSU to reset motherboard for it to come back. Finally the new firmware update fixes this and it no longer happens nor any kind of BSOD.

Other Thoughts: If they hadn't fix this situation it certainly wouldn't be a 5 star. I shut down this PC every night so it didn't bother me very much but people that want 24/7 on system will be very annoyed. I've been keeping an eye on SSDs for a while and a lot of people had similar problems with different brand of SSDs. I believe most people that gave it bad rating would give them better after this fix if they can get past their frustration.

2 out of 5 eggsWell it has good benchmarks

Pros: Very fast

Cons: Stutters, lags, it just does not work well. I love the speeds but the random sound stutters and internet dropping is constant and insane.

Other Thoughts: I have had to RMA this twice and the new one does the exact same. Has the latest firmware but just will not stop the constant stuttering!

Manufacturer Response:

If you have had multiple SSDs fail, there may be some issue contributing to the failures other than the drive. Please contact Tech Support and we'll be happy to assist you.

1 out of 5 eggsDrive fails every few hours

Pros: -

Cons: Drive will fail every few hours causing the system to suddenly restart.

Also I only get 200 MB/s reads even though sata 2 is supposed to be able to do 300 MB/s.

4 out of 5 eggsGood drive with minor issues

Pros: -FAST. Consistent 550MB/s read and 515MB/s write
-Setup and install was a breeze

Cons: -Get BSOD about once a week and it will come up with the "needs boot drive" message from BIOS until reset - see other thoughts
-Requires Intel SATA III controller - DO NOT USE MARVEL SATA III CONTROLLER UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR READ/WRITE SPEEDS TO SU CK

Other Thoughts: My computer runs for 18+ hours a day, and I've had the drive for just over 3 weeks and so far I've had the drive fail 3 times. Each time it happened I was away from the computer, so next time it happens in the middle of something I might not be so forgiving - But given these read/write speeds I'm willing to accept the once-a-week failure.

I originally had a P55 1156 motherboard with a Marvell SATA III port and my read/write speeds were terrible. I later learned that the Marvell controller is awful for these SSD's. My board only had Marvel SATA III, so I bought a new 1155 motherboard with an intel SATA III controller and my speeds were much better. Even on newer boards, you'll have both Intel and Marvel - make sure you plug it into the intel port.

5 out of 5 eggsExceeds my computers limits

Pros: Achieving speeds that is capping out my SATA 2 motorboard.
Loads Windows 7 Ultimate in mere seconds.
My BIOS takes longer to get through
Instant application loading.
Amazing price to performance ratio.
Corsair brand still outstanding.
Zero stability issues so far.
WEI rating of 7.8
Hitting 450MB cap with SATA2 on benchmarks.

Cons: Not plug and play installation. Research on installing before even ordering.
Requires BIOS and windows tweaking to work right.
Makes me want to spend more money on a new motherboard with SATA3 support.
Didn't have the latest firmware installed.

Other Thoughts: Im not sure if people are assuming these work like regular HDs but I've had zero problems by following the instructions on the firmware page on Corsairs website. Can't say enough positive things about this drive.

1 out of 5 eggsAlmost worthless

Pros: Works great as door wedge, really. That's about it. Corsair can make some good stuff, drives is not one of them.

Cons: Corsair came out with the firmware 1.3.2 but hey, their own software does not up date it. It's at 1.3 right now. Tried to update, it states done but when checking the firmware it is still 1.3, also the shut downs and lock ups tell me that anyway. Wow what a pile it is, shuts down, drops off the bois, locks up. Waste of money. Purchased a couple of Plextors 128GB and never ever had and issue, not one, they work!!!!

Other Thoughts: Go Plextor and NOT Corsair. Next is going to be Plextor M2P SSD.

Manufacturer Response:

We have a new firmware from SandForce posted OCT 24, 2011. Please update and let us know via the Corsair forum if we can be of any assistance.
